Both are great, I came in thinking Boulder would win easy and was surprised to see Vitus sounds like Boulder with more soundstage and bass control im impressed

In my opinion the Vitus is a lot more musical sounding, detailed, better dynamic and quieter between notes. I felt the beat of the tune more via the Vitus.

Both are great amps. I think it’s all down to preferences. We did compared both amps with A3 as well and we more leaning towards ri101 mk2. You can listen to the combo forever without feeling fatigue. Thanks so much for sharing
@DynamicAudio

Thank You 🙏 Yes indeed...the choice boils down to listening preferences. To my ears the 866 provides bit more air and texture in the mids and highs...whereas as the RI101 Mk2 has a bit more bottom end grip and drive, so the sound has more fullness and density. But we are splitting hairs...depending on the choice of music played I preferred one over the other.

Even though the Boulder has more tension, the right one, I prefer the Vitus. It has more timbric shading. The Boulder in a way simplify the timbric riproduction. There more inside each note with the Vitus. I prefer the Vitus also in this occasion, even though at the beginning, considering the choice of music I have thought I would have preferred the Boulder.

It's all about system matching ! Boulder sounds best here With speakers like the all new Graham Audio LS-5/5F I bet the VITUS would win hands down ! One of the best speakers money can buy..at any price !

Thank You 🙏yes can't go wrong with Boulder...they do have very good texture to their presentation with the A3. Will check out the Graham speakers if I get a chance. Thanks for the heads up.

@@DynamicAudio What was your take on this one? I thought they were both pretty similar in regard to overall presentation but I slightly preferred the Vitus. Seemed a little bit more fluid.
@DynamicAudio
@DynamicAudio 3 года назад
@@billarmstrong5568 IME, when listening in room, Boulder presentation has more air, detail and layering of sound...where as the Vitus has bit more power and body to the sound, it is also tonally a more dense. Personally, with the Magico A3 I preferred the Boulder...however, I also know of others that liked Vitus. I think it boils down to how your speakers and upstream components synergise with either of these amps...and your listening tastes. With regards to build quality and attention to detail, Boulder is at a different level IMO...and for less money!!

@@DynamicAudio All makes sense, interesting stuff. I've never heard Boulder but it's on my to do list😉 And here in the UK it's actually the Vitus that's a bit less expensive.

The Boulder has a better soundstage with tighter and leaner bass but the Vitus has a more forward and detailed midrange anda better 3D image. Depend on what recording you like more and use which amp accordingly Rao.

Hola buenas noches.

it took a few listens to draw some conclusions. Mainly, the Boulders capture a live performance sound better : more organic punch and drive to the instruments, flesh out all notes exquisitely, deep immense live sound stage, vibrant dynamics and a more appealing sound in general. The Vitus display a more controlled, clinically precise treatment of the music material. Maybe, perhaps lacking the emotive nature of the Boulder is the deciding factor overall.
@DynamicAudio
@DynamicAudio 2 года назад
Thank you for your insightful feedback. I agree Boulder does have very good Rhythm and Pace to its presentation...gets your foot tapping and your head bobbing in no time, in sync with the music. Vitus on the other hand has more body to its sound...ie more tonal density and shades/colour (in a good way). Depending on the track being played...it is easy to pick one over the other IME.

So friggin' cool. It is just one of the things I love about this "hobby"... it sounded the opposite to my ears, with the Vitus inviting me to tap my foot while the Boulder tells me to.

What are your thoughts on the Magico A3 speakers? How would you rate them in terms of tonality, dynamics, soundstage, bass extensions and HF? Is the HF sharp and fatiguing at moderate to high volumes? Is the bass extension tight and fast in its delivery? Is the midrange smooth and accurate? Have you tried any other IA's with the A3? I would appreciate feedback as I am intrigued and plan to upgrade speakers and these seem to pretty great in reviews. Currently not available for demo/ audition hence the above queries. TiA.
@DynamicAudio
@DynamicAudio 2 года назад
IME, when partnered with the right amp, all Magico's have great dynamics, as well as, High frequency extension. Due to their sealed box design they do feel fast, and/but taut in their bass extension! A3 is no exception in this regard...you just get more as you go higher up the chain. Properly set up these speakers can completely disappear. Where the opinions might vary is in the tonality and emotion...which is a function of your listening testes. For me, philosophically speaking, Magico's connect more with my head than my heart 😊 Soundstage is largely a function of your listening room acoustics and the speaker placement. It has less to do with any particular brand of speakers...as long as your speakers have good off-axis response. Magicos are more than capable of throwing a deep and wide soundstage.
@roshansequeira6799
@roshansequeira6799 2 года назад
Thank you for your prompt response. Couple of more queries: Have you paired the A3 with Hegel IA's? I have the H390 and have been informed that they are a great combination. If not, any possibility of checking this pairing & advising? Any experience with Spendor brand (D9.2 to be specific)? At this juncture there are no options of any kind of audition for both these brands in my location and I cannot bring myself to make a blind purchase especially at this price point so trying to gain as much information as possible to facilitate an informed decision if there is absolutely no other recourse and I appreciate your inputs.
@DynamicAudio
@DynamicAudio 2 года назад
@@roshansequeira6799 I have not had a chance to listen to any Hegel products myself...and I don't know of anyone who had paired the Hegel with the A3. That said...Magico's do benefit form amps with good power and drive. You might want to factor that when considering speaker choices.
