Bournemouth Brick Festival, Saturday 9th September 2023, held at the Bournemouth International Centre. Selling my Lego investments sets - follow how my day went.
You're a day early. Amazing Iain. You're a work horse! What a gorgeous display. Thank you so much for brining us with you and showing us so much! You're my main reason for clicking on RU-vid 🎉
Thanks Jai. The event finished at 4pm and because I sold so many sets, packing up was fairly easy, and despite stopping at the pub for dinner on the way back, I was home before 7pm, so plenty of time to edit and post my video. Thanks as always for you continued supportive comments.
Great video Iain, was not expecting this today already. Looks like you had a great day, both personal and business😃 Great to see that you sold a lot of your sets, i bet selling directly to your customer face to face beats an online sale every time. I will find that out on 02-12-23 when we will attend our first ever brickfestival in NL as sellers. A bit nervous about it but mostly very excited 😊
Thanks Peter. Even after dinner at the pub, I was home by 19:00h so plenty of time left to edit my video. I got very nervous before my first Brick Festival - but I'm sure you will prepare well for it and it will be a success.
@@iainsbricks completely understand. Well might bump into you at the Lego store in the future or another Brick Festival. Until then, take care and keep up the great content!
Where do you buy the polybags from? I went to that show, and it was (apart from a couple rare occasions) the first time I've actually been able to buy a polybag.
I have done 7 events this year and I am really dissapointed in the organizers. I booked 2 for next year, within 48 hours they had refunded all my tables, issued a newsletter with new dates for 2024 and within 24 hours all the events were sold out. Really pissed off about this. I have Doncaster booked for December and I think it might be my last.
Oh no, that such a shame. What happened with the 2 that were cancelled? Did they give a reason? I wanted to book for the Southampton event at the end of October 2024, but apparently most of the tickets sold out within 10 minutes or less. Maybe they need to rethink how they sell their traders tickets going forward. Would be a shame if you didn't get to go to any events next year. Hopefully there will be some new venues still to be put on sale.
I paid the full ammount except the £10 deposit, didnt even get a courtesy email to pay the balance. Got £1000`s of stock left to sell through ebay and will probably loose money with the high fees. THinking that might be it for me with Lego selling. @@iainsbricks
Really good video Iain, it's great that you had such a good day. I was also trading and I had my busiest show yesterday. My next Brick Festival is next Sunday in Plymouth, but i sold so many sets I don't know if I will be able to restock! I'll see you in Weston Super Mare!
Great to hear that you had a successful show as well. That's a very short turn around until your next show! I was going to do more shows over the summer, but I did so well at my first 3 shows this year that I decided against it as I was running out of sets I wanted to sell. Best of luck for next week's show
Well I wasn’t expected this video until tomorrow!! 😂 Another successful day and you know I’m now blaming you for all the new sellers we have at these events!! 😂 All joking aside, great event as ever, really well organised by the Brick Festival guys and girls and for that’s it until next year … sold far too much and now need to stick back up!! Oh and now wish I joined you in a video, after seeing my stall on this one!! 👍
Hi Lee - no rest for the wicked eh? 😉. Glad you had a successful Brick Festival as well. Hopefully my video gave everyone else a flavour of how busy it actually was.
@@iainsbricks Certainly did buddy, don’t think I’ve ever had such a busy first hour … think I sold 12 sets in the first 10mins!! And on a day where I really thought everyone would be on the beach. Look forward to future videos and see you some events next year no doubt!! 👍
The day went really well thanks. Yes, they are hard work but I really enjoy doing these events, and not just because I make money at them. There obviously a shopkeeper inside me just bursting to get out! Lol.
Iain I feel the same way! I really want to have the shop selling experience 😅 I won't have the stock to make it very profitable but in a year hopefully I'll have a table's worth and just enjoy the experience.
Thanks for watching. Weston-Super-Mare is in Somerset in England, just south of the city of Bristol. Antwerp is a lovely place - been there a few times.
That set retired unexpectedly at the end of last year. It didn't sell, so maybe I have it priced too high, but I based my price on a few ebay sold prices that I saw.
Hi Iain, that was cool to see two separate events in one venue and lots of sales too! The plastic wrap protecting your sets look interesting.. what do you use to keep them protected and is it by hand or a sealing device?
Thanks - yet it was nice to be able to have a look around the Comic Con as well. I use zip lock bags of varying sizes and tape down the lose edges. It took me a while to do all of my boxes, but it was definitely worth it
Can I ask I've not yet been to 1 of these events but hoping to go to Coventry later this year. Are you allowed to try and barter the prices or are they set it stone? The price on the box is it and won't change?
Hi. Do try to get to one of these events if you can as they are very enjoyable. Yes, you can barter, but it's up to the individual trader as to if they will accept or not.
Dates for Brick Festival events can vary, so best to check their website. I do know that the Brick Festival is back in Bournemouth on 7th Sept, but unfortunately I will not be there myself this year.
Awesome sets and Fanstic video!. Just wondering what kind of wrapping do you have on your sets. Smart move against collecting dust and damage to the boxes
Thanks Roger. The Tie Fighter helmet I sold for £260. It had a RRP of £55 and had a short ish shelf life of a year and a half, and at the time it was only available to buy from Lego stores and Lego.com, and even then, it was pretty difficult to get hold of and kept selling out. The other prices reflect how easily available or not the sets were at the time and how long they've been retired.
Looks like you had a good day sales wise, shame the Greengrocer didn’t sell, though it will do one day. I hope the hall had air conditioning otherwise you would have been roasting. I was interested in seeing the Blackbird plane MOC, it took me back to being a kid and playing Top Trumps with my brother. We had a Top Trumps set on aeroplanes and the Blackbird beat all the other planes in almost every category.
I don't like to divulge my exact takings at these events, however I can confirm that this has been my most successful event to date. I've yet to work out my exact net profit
