@@jthuso I have Senn HD58x and AT m40x's, and both are leagues superior to the output of these cans. I cannot believe how veiled they are. Could be my setup, wav files to NAD C368, output via bluetooth to the cans. Terrible....I had to watch this video just so I could ensure I knew how to put them back in the case in the original form. If you know what instruments actually sound like, have potentially seen live concerts in small venues, or play an instrument, you will know everything that is missing from the music with the PX7's. Go to Rtings if you want a more professional review with actual measurements.
@Spongebob Schwanzkopf Sound is highly subjective, but I play several instruments, have a small home studio, and have attended many concerts where the timbre of instruments is clear. The PX7's are horrendous in this respect, utterly cloudy, IMO. YMMV of course. Feel free to check out the measurements of several cans, including the XM3 at the rtings site. If you like the sound of the XM3, their frequency response graphs my help you understand the type of sound you "prefer".
Overall, a good 1st impressions video. Just 2 issues, and someone else already pointed out the 1st..calling the PX the "original PX7". The real issue is making detailed judgements and recommendations on sound quality and characteristics straight out of the box. I wasn't sure if "burn in" was a real thing until I started buying B&W headphones. For the money, both the P9 and the PX were underwhelming straight out of the box, and showed noticable improvement in dynamics and bass quality and quantity after about 10 hours of playback...with no more noticeable improvement after 30 hours. Especially the PX. If I hadn't read warnings in the HeadFi forums about the PX needing burn in, I would've returned them after the 1st day. Over the 1st 20 hours of playback, they became noticably more dynamic, and tonality and soundstage also improved.
@@sinetwo Yes, I'm sure...no doubt. I've owned dozens of different pairs of headphones over the years, and own 5 different pairs right now. Some neutral sounding, some more v shaped. What you speak of is also a thing though...mental "burn in". But, it is subtle...your mind getting used to a certain sound signature. With the PX, there was nothing subtle about it. It was truly like night and day. Granted, I have high standards when it comes to headphones, but it was downright bad straight out of the box. Poor dynamics and boxy sounding...just a very flat sound. I did read about this in HeadFi prior to buying them, but thought that people were exaggerating. They weren't. If it wasn't for their warnings, I would've returned them the very next day. It changed quickly, though. After a couple of hours, it started to open up. Ten hours in, and I knew they were keepers. The bass grew to be tight and dynamic, yet still neutral...bass heads would not like it. The highs gained a nice sparkle,.and the mids were great...clear and detailed, with very good tonality. The soundstage is extremely good, for a closed pair of noise cancelling headphones. I was comparing them to the Bose NC700 and the Sony 1000xm3. Out of the box, the PX didn't really sound better than either one...more detailed, but that was about it. After 15 hours, it completely blew the Bose out of the water, and was noticeably better than the Sony. Those two were promptly returned to the store. I assure you, I didn't imagine this...and it wasn't a matter of just "getting used to them".
@@edwinramos4910 fair enough. I tired the px7 and px5 today. They sounded great imo. But their anc was lacking heavily. I could easily hear the guys around me talking. The reason I'm getting anc is for office use and travel. But also for sound quality. Really I just want xm3 with px7 sound ☺
@@sinetwo I hear you. I'd like the same thing. The Sony noise cancellation is still the one to beat. But, the PX sounded so much better to my ears that I chose to settle for the just decent noise cancellation. I haven't listened to the PX7 myself, but the consensus online is that they sound a bit better than the PX, with much better noise cancellation. That would work for me...even if it's still not Sony 1000xm3 good at noise cancelling. What worries me is the PX7's apparent downgrade in build material quality. The PX are beautifully built, with very premium materials.
First point became even more relevant with the release of the PX7 S2 lol. I was confused and checking date of upload after all the references to the "original PX7s" lol.
Got mine on Thurs hoping they would best my old B&W p7 wireless but for me at least they are not in the same class lacking the exciting sound of my P7W and they will be going back, which is a shame because I am struggling to find an headphone with the loud volume and exciting dynamic sound of the P7W looks like I may try the senn m3’s but I’m not too hopeful as the volume on the 2.0’s was way too low for me. I've never owned a B&W headphone but I do have a few Sony's (wh1000xm3, xb900n, xb950n1) plus some other headphones, but my Sennheiser M3's are my favorite...I listen to Chh (Christian hip hop) Jazz, contemporary rock, some salsa, some old school R&B...and the sound stage, sound signature, and enhanced bass combined with the neutral mids and highs make for a very enjoyable listening experience...loudness is a must for me, and the Senn M3 have plenty...sound leakage is prominent so if that is an issue for you than you may need to take that in for account...otherwise fit & finish is worthy of the price tag...my two cents. 👴

My own personal music taste is Rock mainly classic rock and contemporary and jazz rock, Steely Dan etc and 70s and 80’s pop nothing to modern I’m afraid but I do love to listen to my music each day at work and off what you just said I am inclined to give them a go, thank you

@@superblitz2274 i do not own these so my impressions are limited by RU-vid reviews. Second, i own the sennheiser m3's so I'll have a bias to them. third, my personal sound signature leans towards hip hop music, jazz, contemporary rock...so, i say all that to acknowledge my perspective. The Sennheiser m3 has high fidelity sound across the board as does the b&w but the m3 has clear high fidelity bass that can be felt which is a giant plus for my music immersion experience. Not to mention the level of over the ear comfort that the m3 provides. I've own them for a month and battery is never an issue since i don't fly to china often and though i live in nyc i don't travel by subway much..🤷♂️☝️
I prefer PX's design to PX7's. PX was super beautiful. Can't wait for your full review on PX7. Very interested to know if it is big-head-approved! My P5 wireless hurts me so much.

my phone has a built in equalizer. so I can change how much bass I hear and how sharp the mids and highs are if I want. I just wanna know if the rumor that these narrow their soundstage when anc is on is true
Jaden Alvarez The original PX looked a million times better. These are still nicer-looking than any competitor but their predecessors were like a work of art.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I watched a lot of videos from you about the Bose NC 700 and they do cost 330€ everywhere I searched for them and I'm confused that you still say that they cost 400$
Had ordered them but definitely return them. The problem is that the bass frequencies have a cap when you turn on ANC. So when you turn up the music above 75% the bass wont get louder and because of this the whole sound gets weird. Problem is they arent really loud so you want to go above 75% pretty often. Without ANC they sound pretty amazing tho (still worse then the Momentums)
Yeah I've noticed that with ANC turned on their sound stage gets narrowed and the bass isn't as deep. The PX did the same thing and so do a few other headphones
@@GYMCADDY no i dont mean the deepness. Try a song with a strong bass, turn Anc on and turn the volume to 80%. The bass is cut off. The rest of the music is fine but the bass just stops increasing at certain levels. Its getting really flat and overpowered by the rest. The Gaming Audiophile explained it pretty good in a update in his comments. Please look deeper into this problem
Tbh, I got these yesterday and haven't noticed this problem like you and maybe one other have mentioned. If it's there, it's veeeeery subtle, and I don't find a need to turn these up past 80% anyway (definitely not with ANC on which allows me to turn my music quieter anyway since I don't have to drown out environmental noise by turning up the volume) for a long time without any pain.
@@egg1111115 appreciate your opinion. I could be to picky for sure. Im just more used to higher quality normal headphones. I notice stuff like this instantly. I actually love the way B&W goes. They make a great package for sure. Still in terms of sound quality they are definitely behind the Momentums. Also the reason why the battery life is bad on the Momentums. They use such high impedance drivers and a crazy powerful DAC.
I find most of the time I don’t need the ANC as the seal is quiet good, however you can’t set the headphones to turn on with ANC off. It’s beyond annoying to hit the ANC button three times. What’s worse is that if you don’t hear the voice prompts for ANC as you switch modes, it won’t actually cycle between states. Super annoying. That said, I do appreciate that they shortened the voice prompts when shuffling through
I’m surprised that you say these sound neutral. I have a pair and they’re definitely bass-boosted. Not boomy but definitely accentuated. These are great for electronic and dance music, imo. The detail and sound stage is also top-notch.
soundblast75 I agree 100%. I’m actually thinking of returning them as the bass is so strong that my ears fatigue on some of my favorite tracks. I’m confused as to why there isn’t software to adjust them
Yeah now that I've had a little more time with them I wanna retract that neutral sound statement. The bass is very present but it doesn't kick like the Sonys or resonate like on the momentum 3. But I like it

Also i just noticed something which makes the Px7 incredible useless for me. Please talk about sound leakage on these. I literally just was asked to turn down my music in the train at 70% volume because the person next to me heard everything. This makes them completly useless for on the go usage. Even at 60% you can still hear something. Didnt they test this? Also explains why they needed to limit the bass in high Anc mode. Such a disappointment from a company like B&W
Vendetta xRiich I own a pair, and while they do leak some sound, it’s not crazy. I could see someone asking you to turn them down in a library next to you, but on a train? I can only assume the train is very quiet in the cabin. On public transit, you can hardly hear your own thoughts 😂
@@jordohayes yeah in my city trains arent the loudest but still. 😅 Its just to much leakage for my life. There just need to sit a person anywhere next to me and they hear everything. Also because the headphones arent really loud in general 70% is a pretty mediocre volume for on the go listening. Could imagine going up to 80 or even 90 in louder trains. At that point it just gets far too loud for people around me. Especially on flights this could be a dealbreaker when you have people sitting 30 cm away
@@letslachflash I understand you very well, for me it is also very important that the headphones have the smallest possible sound leakage. I have at home now PX7 and M3 and in this respect they fall out similarly, however M3 deal with this goose and they can be heard more
I find most over ear headphones look a little weird head-on. Hence why most promotional material for any of these things usually show some kind of angled/side view. I think there are definitely worse contenders here (The Momentum 3s for instance might look a little strange especially if you have to move the steel arms past the bottom of the cups)
The original P7 were absolutely gorgeous looking headphones! I actually bought them back in 2014 and they sounded world class across different genres of music. But, unfortunately I reluctantly had to send them back as I wanted to take my driving lessons and needed to save up. And sadly, the P7 is discontinued. I made the right decision back then as I eventually went on to pass my driving test first time and bought a car. But I feel a little gutted too
