We're enjoying some crazy bowfishing below Barkley Dam with a couple of high school NASP shooters! The asian carp were really piled in thick this night. #bowfishing #fishing #carp #hunting #conservation
Use to do this years ago when I was young. Wasn't Asian carp back then, mainly buffalo and grass and a few gar. Always had a blast!. Didn't need a boat, just walked through the shallow back waters. Didn't use a reel or line on the arrow (seems like cheating lol), you either had to pin them to the ground with your shot or chase them down to get your arrow back :) Would love to see more people doing this to help keep the carp population under control.
I'm from this area, these bow fishermen can do a huge favor towards both of these lakes !! It's March , find the creek arms above the dams. You'll find huge carp searching to spawn . Carp as long as 4' or better can be located in numbers if you go as far up in the creek as possible. Use your skill to hamper thier spawn.
I want to redo all my championships with compound bows! so much easier to aim, we had to use recurves, I wondered why scores jumped so much the last couple decades
Idk what dam but it’s on Kentucky lake and it has fish littering the sides because people catch em and just throw em on land. It’s so fun. Cuz there all big fish
I've had that thought before. I think it would work out well. Except I'm not sure how you'd ensure the safety of everybody else that's out on the water.
Maybe instead of shooting them you could shock the lake instead. But great video it was interesting and a eye opener to see what a species can do to a ecosystem
@@johncuervo3019 asian carp is meh if you bake it or fillet it. You gotta steam it whole with ginger, garlic, leeks or spring onions. Deep fry whole is a option to, splash chili oil or garlic oil on it afterwards with a touch of sesame oil Optional adds are , lemon grass, cilantro, onions, lemons, etc and what ever strong aromas and flavors you like. That is the more traditional way and honestly you could do it with a lot of types of fish. I personally like to pan fry whole or steam, use ponzu sauce and homemade fried garlic and onion chili sesame oil.
@@crimsonchaos2137 bowfishing gar and common carp and the native Buffalo fish should be illegal becuse most blowfisherm waste the fish but the big head and sliver should be far game.
Asian carp are a non-native invasive fish, so catch and kill as many as you can. Their numbers need to be reduced and controlled. Kind of like feral hogs.
Some people will eat Asian Carp, and there is a growing commercial fishery for them, but people are also encouraged to kill them because they are highly destructive invasive fish.

I hope you all at least make fertilizer out of the killed carp. Total waste of resources if not, from an activity that borderlines sociopathic behavior.
