Bowie missed Bolan so much. They rekindled their friendship before Bolan died, and they liked each other a lot. At least that's how I interpret their relationship.
I think you’re right Mattias…I have a short audio clip of Bowie saying Marc was his best friend around this period. I’ll try to incorporate it into a future video.
Bowies says herre Bolan was about his best friend before he died, not a well known fact...ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2lZmHsbuNCg.html
Bowie sounded like he was struggling to say something positive about MB, as they had a falling out well before his death…. Interesting that he would say that MB was going through difficulty at the time of his passing!… not sure what he knew, but it’s a very big grape vine in the Rock and roll world!
Bowie and Bolan rekindled their friendship before Marc died, though... Bowie even said in another interview that he considered Marc his best friend during the period just before Marc's death, and he and Marc regularly talked on the phone. So yeah, Bowie would know if Marc was going through stuff, because Marc himself likely told him during a phone call... I'm sure David knew quite a lot.
Bowie had literally been on Marc's TV show playing on stage with him before Marc died (after the wrap party that very night). If you watch that they're clearly having an absolute blast together.
@@TheDorkEvilOne His divide with MB was probably due to his heavy drug use and related lifestyle, not because of professional reasons, which is why they got along on stage. Bowie rarely held grudges but you could tell Bowie felt that MB was a troubled man.
@@Slo-ryde I thought that in 1977, Bolan had cleaned up. He certainly looked as though he had on the 'Marc' TV show, shedding all of the bloated weight he put on in 1973-76.
