After a rough start with my bandsaw, I finally got this piece to do what I wanted. What we have is a perfect example of a live edge dish/bowl from a half log. Finished in shellac.

Thank You Phil, Thank You Rick Chapman... That English Walnut looks like it turns nice and easy ? That bark seems to really stick. Another very nice picture perfect turning... I love that thick bark! Until next time Phil.... TM

It did turn quite nicely, Tuffy and yeah, the bark was stuck tight! Glad you like it, my friend, thank you! 😊

Mr Phil is my favorite wood turner on RU-vid, without a doubt. I love his style. I love how he loves the nature of the wood he's working with. I love how he keeps you well informed of his intentions and how he goes about his creative process. I also simply enjoy his demeanor and his attitude. He makes you feel like you're right there with him, kinda standing next to your grandpa in his workshop when you were a child, watching, listening and learning. That's what brings me back to his channel.
@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop
@@lesstiglet1241 That's how I feel about it too, Les. We're all just standing around the lathe shooting the breeze!

Remember when you had to go out and look for wood? Preaching to the choir here about changing the band saw blade. If you are pushing it at all, the blade needs changing.

Very timely Phil. The tree fell after a high wind storm in 2020. The wonderful lady who owned it called me and offered it to me. It was a very special gift. She passed away a couple of weeks ago and now it is even more special. Thank you sir you gave it new life.

And I loved seeing the woodpecker holes just in the edge of the bark, a great talking point. The finish to the bowl you made was brilliant like a piece of glass. Good morning, Phil. The bark on this piece of English Walnut stayed very tight and looks amazing next to the wood when finished. Your bandsaw story is very familiar. Who wants to change the blade anyway? Surely it will make one more cut. Very nice live edge bowl.
@PhilAndersonShadyAcresWoodshop
Hahaha, so true, Ray! On my saw, it's really easy to change the blade. It's all the cleaning that has to be done first that keeps me putting it off. Now, I'm so glad it's done! 😊
