Bowling at Twisted Pin (Brunswick Boost ST String-Pinsetters) [Formerly Plainfield Lanes]

Well, Plainfield not only converted to string-pins, but also completely changed their name! (Twisted Pin) I still miss their GS-96 pinsetters, but I had to try out their string pinsetters since I've yet to bowl on Brunswick String-Pins equipped with the Brunswick Max-Life bowling pins! Honestly, I have to say that the pin-action/carry here is probably the most realistic compared to other string-pin centers I've been too (which have all been AMF Edge String houses (and Funk String-Pin)). Their kickbacks actually throw pins around. I believe the strings are a bit longer to achieve a more accurate pinfall. Due to this, there are indeed more tangles as you will see in the video. Don't get me wrong, I don't really care much for string-pins personally, but I have to say that I was impressed and had a good time. This is probably the only string-pin house I'd actually wouldn't mind throwing a few games at. Lanes were well oiled, and everything was clean! Check it out!

I hate to admit it, this is the only place had the best pin action on Strings unlike any String center. Regardless, I'd still go with the Brunswick GS-NXT Pinsetter than this.

Strings should be relegated to archaids only. They have no business being in regular bowling centers. My fear is 10 pin could turn into 5 pin. In Canada where 5 pin is more prevalent, they are mostly strings because no one is producing free fall machines. As more 10 pin strings are produced, centers may decide that they don't want to pay trained mechanics and just have low paid young people service these machines. It could to get to a point where manufactures may not think it is as profitable to build free fall machines. It may take a while to get that point, but I could see it happening.

As far as i can tell, those are the best perfoming string pinsetters so far. I for sure prefer freefall, but as it looks like, we all will have to get use to string machines more and more.

No, we don't have to accept it. Simply refuse to play at them. We the consumers have the power, remember that. Spend your money at centers where the game is respected. And there are plenty. New one just opened in Kansas. Places like this one here have effectively turned the game into a life-sized arcade joke. Their only desire is to siphon money off of normie sheep while hiring as few members of their community as possible, they don't care about bowling. What serious competitive bowler would go in to practice in shitty conditions like this? It's so dark you can't even see the lane markings. There's a giant screen with random ai generated screensavers blinding everyone. Why on earth would anyone want this? Serious question.

This might be true for the USA, but here in Germany, even in the whole EU, almost every renovation or new construction has String machines. As sad as it is. But I'd rather take strings than a closed center.

The ones with the power are the casual bowlers that don’t really care if they’re strings or free fall. The ones that don’t even know that oil patterns exist.

These are what bowling centers should go to If they can’t maintain amazing free fall pin setters like A2, GSX, AMF, etc because like I said LONGER strings give the pins more free fall pin action and time to roll.

There are still problems with Strings such as Tangled pins, incapable for Out of Range, inaccurate pin count and really slow rolled Bowling balls would easily sit on the pindeck if toddlers are Bowling.

If someone opens a new entertaining bowling center/arcade, this is at least how it should be set up. It still accommodates serious bowlers for practice/fun, while attracting the open bowlers. Freefall still trumps strings tho. Heck I'd say bring back pinboys, but everything's apparently a liability these days lol

Interesting video, the pins did seam to act more like free fall. Is this house USBC sanctioned? Man the flashing changing video wall was vey annoying to me LOL. How were you able to see the arrows?

Overall it doesnt seem too terrible here. Still definitely a downgrade from the GS machines though. That 8 pin in the 5th frame was just down right evil, the way it looked like it should've gone down. Next time Im in town, Ill definitely have to pay them a visit to see for myself how it is. Nice bowling and great video!

5:25, I see you Randy Pederson'ed yourself. LOL. I think the Brunswick ones have a higher tangle rate, but the cycle time is faster. AMF ones seems to have very little slack in the line and way too easy of pinfall with wrap-around issues.

I feel like my ball speed on spares would either break the entire string machine, or snap the string. I can throw it 20+ mph on a normal spare shot and it’s even sketchy on free fall.

PinDominator, I’m inviting you to come to Tucson, Arizona to bowl at Lucky Strike Bowl, (thankfully, they don’t use strings😁) with rates at $5/game and $30/hour. I can get $2.50 games for league pricing, and can get free games as my dad works at the center. 32 synthetic lanes, Brunswick A-2 pinsetters, and most of the time fresh oil. I’m there at least every Saturday at 9AM.

What i really dont like are the LED Wall masking units. Those are really distracting. And the lighting of the lanes is awful for me as a sport bowler. I very much prefer white light without flashing and blinking.

Its better to have Transparent Masking Units than Projectors/LED Panels
