Tips for good practice: Have a plan as to what you're going to work on during your session. Be sure to use proper form and good technique. If you reach a point during a session where you can't do it right or you get frustrated then it's best to stop, continuing will engrain bad habits. Be honest when you assess your game, admit your weaknesses and work on them. One thing I've learned from bowling, golf, and piano is that it's important to do the drills that aren't fun and even those that are boring, often times they lead to the most improvement.
While I'm a fan of both Wayne and Lisa I disagree with the adage that practice makes perfect. Practice makes permanent. Practicing with poor form or bad technique will not make you better it will only engrain bad habits.
