Bowling Release | Axis Rotation | MORE HOOK?? 

All voice is now overtaken by loud music at around 2 min 47 sec. What happened? Would love to get the instruction given in this vid.

We dont have any voice audio after 2:45 it seems, hard cuts out with loud music.

The visuals are helpful but the voice track and music track on the video got switched half way in. Can you guys re-launch this?

I'm only 1:40 into this video and I want to cry (with happiness). I've just got done looking at several other videos about axis rotation and it was all blah, blah, blah as if I knew what the hell they were talking about. But in just 1:40 you guys created the most perfect video with slow motion and side by side comparison shots. I don't have to know all the technique terminology to understand the point you are making. Thank you so much and keep up the good work. Have you guys graduated from teaching college for your real world jobs? It takes training to put on such a well put together presentation. Oh, oh, I just noticed at the 3:50 mark that your three throws of 45 degree, low and high axis rotation all looked the same as the ball left Jung's hand. I've seen that on other videos, too. One vid talks about releasing the ball like rolling a large soup can across the floor. But when he threw the bowling ball, his hand snapped up alongside the ball at release. Even on the still shot with all three throws side by side - WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE? They all look almost identical. Conflict, conflict, can't compute.

Something I have personally noticed is that I couldn't get enough hook with the house balls when I used a higher axis rotation closer to 90°. I eventually noticed that when I hooked the ball practically parallel to the foul line, rotating towards the gutter, that it wouldn't actually have enough friction to grab and hook sharply enough when it got to the dryer boards, causing to only have a gradual hook and never really hitting the pocket quite right. I learned that (and remember, this is with the house balls, so nothing fancy) if I wanted the ball to grab and hook sharp enough to effectively hit the sweet spot, that I actually had to decrease my axis rotation to more of a 45°. This actually allowed the ball to grab one hook in more or less a 45° degree angle when it reached the dryer boards near the end, whereas before with the 90° there was no way the house had the ability to really grab and hook and so while the rotation would affect the path of the ball, it was never enough. So by lessening how sharp of an angle I threw it actually allowed for the ball to grab and hook when it needed to

Extremely useful knowledge and training tool. I have been having some issues derusting with my physical game and after watching this last night and practing this morning, I was able to immediately identify I was putting way too much rotation on my release. I dialed it back to what I'm normally used to which is about 45~ and wouldn't you know it, things started falling into place once more. Thanks for the knowledge guys. This is one of the better videos about this on the platform. Weird audio issues not withstanding. 😂

Yea my coach tells me all the time about creating tilt which is about making your pointer finger point directly down right before you release the ball, like how Chris Barnes or kris prather do it.

Now I understand why I was so successful on the shorter patterns in the PBA Experience league I bowled over 10 years ago. I have maybe 20 degrees of rotation with little to no tilt.

Excellent demonstration

This is pretty much how I would show axis rotation excellent informative video. I also would like to add that there are some balls that are more responsive to hand positions than others too. I always try to use equipment that reads my hand position more. A good example for me anyway, is the Synergy. It very much follows and reacts accordingly to any amount of rotation I have at release. The upcoming axis tilt video is a perfect choice follow up.

Thanks for this video! My shot is definitely the one with High Axis Rotation, it always abruptly hooks at the end of the lane, often too early and too sharp, sometimes missing the pins entirely! Looks like i need to get my hand behind the ball a little more.. Any other tips?

Thanks for the video. Have been throwing 90 degrees , 2 handed, and hooks harder than this vid at the end. Have been increasing ball speed but will try changing axis angle now. Bowled 3 games over 200 last weekend, very good for me so not sure if I should. Also when I throw 0 degrees my ball has 0 hook. It’s a Columbia 300 messenger. Maybe the ball? Why doesn’t it hook?

Wow! This series is damn useful and good. I'm struggling on what a good time to change my ball during lane transition. Axis rotation change is a good direction for me to promote my game actually. I would love to learn more about different rolling shapes down the lane the ball creates and the speed adjustment if we need it. Looking forward to more videos for the two-handed bowlers, love you guys.

Can you explain the way I bowl ? I CALL IT A BACK FLIP .I use my thumb at 6 and I flip hand up to 12 . I move my thumb to 7 or9 to get it hook more

There was a guy in league who used to stay pretty much in the same spot on the lane and kept the same target. Just thinking about it, he must have just taken his hand out of the ball more and more as the night went on where I was moving left by 5 or 6 boards instead. It drove me crazy sometimes. Recently I tried to get lined up with the Tropical Surge ball and found it nearly impossible during warm up. So I didn't use it. Maybe all I needed to do is to go to a lower rotation and stay behind the ball more. Dunno... :) Great demos Jungo...

I think you kind of answered the question already, but just to be sure... Strictly urethane players should tend to stick with decreased axis rotation, yea? Urethane doesn't corner or make big moves down-lane, so trying to get it to seems counter-productive and that it would just burn up in the first 2/3 of the lane.

I love the video. I have a question. My release is weird according to the thing that shows your tilt, rotation, speed my tilt is 2 and rotation is 72 with a PAP of 5"x 31/32 up. What is the best way to drill balls to give me the best rotation.

Its funny for him to have "zero" axis rotation when the ball still hooks a ton. I can throw zero axis and the ball is straight as an arrow. I wish I could hook the ball that much. If his shot had no axis rotation it would have went in the the right gutter. His no axis rotation hooks more than when I am trying to hook it.
