Got mine 10 days ago. Love, love, love it! Yep, Realm is similar to Reign 7, Realm X is similar to Reign 6 as far as brace height, so that’s how you compare one to the other. Mine came out of the box perfectly in synch, so we didn’t experience what you did. Spot on findings here: Absolutely dead in the hand, very quiet and you can hold it at full draw for weeks. I shoot a back tension release so that solid back wall is amazing. Great review Sean!
Yeah, I imagine most are dead on out of the box. Not sure what happened with this one, but the shop got it fixed up. Thanks for watching and God bless ya.
thanks for the video... I own the realm in kryptek camo and its the best bow I have ever shot! i tried the new hoyt rx1 and the mathews triax both felt like pulling a rubber band back after pulling the bowtech back. and the realm is just a good looking bow as well imo....mine is set to comfort at 29.5 and 73 pounds smooth as silk. i actually went up from 63 pounds to 73 cause the realm is so easy to pull back....great review keep em coming sean God bless
I had the same experience, was shooting all the new bows, all 70lbs and 29” draw. Have it down between the realm and the triax. Had the bow shop max them out for poundage and thought the realm was easier on the draw, measured the poundage and the realm is maxed out and only pulling 66 pounds. The triax maxed out is 74 pounds. I wonder how many people actually check this when comparing bows to buy, saying one is smoother than the other. Almost 10 pounds more will make a considerable difference in the feel of the draw cycle. Great review.
I have had mine for 3 days. I haven't had a chance to shoot out doors yet, right now its like 6 degrees outside. So I've only been shooting in the basement. And it appears to be a shooter. I have the reagn 7 also and love it. It's going to take a while to get used to the looks compared to the reagn 7. God bless from Canada.
I own a Prodigy and really enjoyed your review of that bow. I'm a lefty and can't get access to a Realm to compare. Can you recall any similarities/differences in draw and shot? I'm shooting 70# 28.5 draw and #2 Classic setting. Thanks for the great informational reviews, keep them coming!
If the classic setting is like the comfort setting now, then they will be similar. There is a possibility that the comfort setting of now may even be a touch smoother than the classic setting of the Prodigy, but I can't remember clearly enough now how the classic draw cycle felt. I always just remember the choppiness of the draw cycle on the faster setting. The Realm and the Reign series bows on comfort setting is simply a smooth and enjoyable draw cycle all the way around. If you like smooth, then you will like the draw cycle of the Realm on Comfort.
I haven't shot the Realm X yet, but the Reign 6 is sure nice. I imagine it will be very similar. I mean, the realm had a very familiar feel, but the grip on the Realm feels nicer in the hand to me. Realm also doesn't have the mircro adjust for draw stop timing.
Always go to your videos first for my research. With my short draw, hunting out of a saddle I need a compact, extremely smooth drawing bow. Opinions between this, Triax or Evole 28?
Sean, I am 6'2" with a 30" DL. I have been testing out both the Realm X and the Triax (both nice). I really like the feel of the Triax but the salesmen is steering me to longer bows. Did you find the string angle to be an issues on the Triax as compared to longer bows?
The cam on the Triax is so bit that it actually gives you more of the same angle as a bow with a longer axle to axle. If you WANT the triax, then you get the Triax! The salesperson may prefer BowTech, but if you shoot the Triax and you know in your gut that that is the bow you will be happy with, then go with it. A large part of archery is psychological. If you get that BowTech and don't end up liking it, then you just spent a large amount of money to make yourself unhappy. The choice is YOURS not the bow shop's. If you shoot the triax at your draw length and everything feels good to you, then get that bow. That's my opinion anyway. I just think people should shoot what they want to shoot. BowTech are nice, and I have one, but I am not going to force others into it. Just reading your post made it seem to me that deep down you wanted the Triax, and for that, I say, go with the Triax. Both are great bows, but if your insides are leaning toward one, then go that way!
I am torn between the realm, and the reign7, and the xpedition xcursion7. In your honest opinion which bow would you buy? Thank you for your time. Great video.
If I had money in my hand right now, I would buy an Xcursion 7. Xpedition is the best bow to tune that I have ever touched. Much easier than even the BowTech to get it shooting perfect bullet holes through paper in no time at all. Xpediotion are very smooth and provide a lot of speed. My second choice would be the Realm. I have a Reign 7 and was hunting in ice and snow last year, and I was afraid to even test draw my bow back for fear of the limbs blowing up. Even if they wouldn't have, I still was mentally shaken by the fact that they have had so many limb problems in the past. The Realm is a much more robust looking limb, so I would feel more confident with it.
I think you are the best at bow reviews I'm buying a new bow in a few days and I have watched so many of your videos..I think you are the best. that said after watching this review I don't think I would buy the bowtech realm lol..keep up the great work God Bless.
Sean PLEASE review the regular BT-Mag. A lot of guys re posting it's the real sleeper bow but none are around to try and I would feel better about ordering if you shot it and compared it to the Realm X Thanks in advance!
Hello Sean! First of all, thank you for your videos, they have been really helpful for me as a archery beginner. However, I own a compound bow but don't know who the manufacturer is, since there is no logo, only a ticket where the specifications are printed (DL 28'', DW 55lb, String Length 30'', Made in Taiwan and the serial number). Is there any way I can find out who the manufacturer is?
I don't really know anything about bows, but I always thought they were really cool so I thought I search for some videos on them since I started working an I have to say your videos are fun and accurate
I shoot 5 grains per pound as a baseline, so when shooting 70 pounds, I shoot 350 grain arrow baseline, and when it is 65 pounds, I shoot 325 grain arrows. It is based off of IBO standards.
With your data analysis, why don't you add the Ke of each arrow and speed. I know a lot of people are always interested in that data and it would be easy using excel. Thanks, new subscriber and enjoy your videos.
I'm planning to do separate videos on the topic this summer if I have time. With the amount of data and compilation to just put one of these videos together I'm already strained on time. Its just too much to add on to each video with all the time constraints I have and time it takes per video as is. Sorry
I think im looking more to the BowTech Reign 6. Only thing that really sucks about it is the 2018 new BowTech realm is $1,000 and the BowTech Reign 6 is still $1,000
Thanks for watching, Tony. Yeah, I think that bows are priced based on the cost of manufacturing and that cost doesn't go down the next year unless they change their processes like some of the Elite bows for this year that went down in price. Elite changed the manufacturing process as I learned in the factory tour, which enabled them to lower the cost on a few bows.
I started doing that last year because many shops have whisker biscuit rests and fletching slows down the arrow which throws off the speed reading. Then going to another shop with drop away rests set up, well, that would make the one bow seem slower than the other when in fact it was just the rest. So, I started shooting bare shafts to avoid readings being thrown off by whisker biscuit rests.
Sean's Outdoor Adventures wow, don't know how I feel about that. I love your unbiased reviews. Lets be honest, how much difference is there in the bows you reviewed last year to this year?
Not much in many respects, but I have seen some changes, and some for the better. For instance, I agreed with some of the structural changes Hoyt made, but the bows feel the same to shoot so I can't say that the changes will result in accuracy differences. BowTech has had a hard time with the public criticizing their limbs for a long time now, so it was smart of them to do something noticeable about it with the limbs on this bow, so, there were clear changes but not necessarily ones that provided a different feel, and, if anything, the new limb may produce slightly slower speeds. I also got to shoot some brands so far that I haven't had the chance to shoot before and some have surprised me. I'll hopefully get to do reviews on those bows as well as I only got to shoot them at trade shows so far.
I have many of those as I've announced my favorite bow each year. The past five years Mathews and Bowtech and Elite have been among my favorite, with Xpedition also ranking one year.
