RU-vid!!! In this episode I'll be doing some troubleshooting on this no start issue that I'm having with Summer Rain. replaced the crank sensor and things were looking good until the starter wouldn't disengage from flex plate.
Take the intake tube off hold the throttle open, spray some starting fluid/brake cleaner in the intake and turn the key start it. If it runs off the spray then you have a fuel distribution issue, clogged injectors, fuelpressure issue. Your battery and cables suck, amp cable never as good as real battery cable welding cable. Hook up another battery on your junction under the hood just to test it out.
20 to 30 psi of fuel for your 6.0 is not enough to crank that motor you could have a bad pump or bad regulator put a fuel gauge on the fuel rail if its showing 29 or 30 you need to see 55 60 or that motor will not start i had the same problem and get a fully charged battery you will need it to turn that motor over i have a red top optimum
Southside Nate!!!! Great job on the build bro!!!! As long as the voltage is below 12 volts it ain’t gonna start…. Make sure you did not use your hot side of the coil for a 12v input to your controller…. If so that wire that supplies 12 volts to the coil will drop below 12 volts causing a not start condition…. Blessings Fam!!!!! 💪🏾 💪🏾 💪🏾
The hot and ground from the terminator suspose to got directly to the battery not a hot and ground going to the battery. So if you don't have them going directly to the battery then do it. It makes a difference
Get an external regulator make sure there’s at least 50psi on the gauge. Check the spark plug harness make sure the harness labeled is plugged in accordingly to each side. Battery voltage has to be at least 11.5-12 while cranking. Make sure the timing chain isn’t off by a few teeth or 180° out as this happened to me. I let me turbo truck sit for 2 years cause of the no start issue and so I was getting low Rpm while cranking and stall I ran a wire from the battery positive to the positive on the crank sensor power wire and she started right up. I have a lot of experience dealing with this problem You could also have an air gap too large on the crank or cam sensor which is why the last 2 lights are blue on the ecu. While cranking see if your last blue light switches from blue to green multiple times while cranking. If so then you are good with the crank and it’s another issue.
Make sure you have the correct harness for your 24x or 58x reluctor wheel.. make sure your coils are firing correctly.. I went thru that with my 5.3.. but I’m carbed running the msd6014
I read somewhere before that the terminator will not read the o2 sensor because of the air being to close to the end of the headers. You may need to put a piece of pipe on the one with the o2 sensor to get the o2 sensor away from the air...it may help.
The wire or circuit your using for your 12v key run / cranking might have a resistor that drop voltage from 12v to 9v...holley recommend 10.6 V. holley systems will not work with less.. i would recommend you using a relay for your 12v key run/ crank to get a clean 12+ voltage to holley controllers ect.
If it’s back firing bro check your coil pack harness… they are actually numbered on the LS engine…flip them around and see if it starts… I had the same problem with mine
U mentioned that ya shimmed the starter but did not say in which manner. From the instawear marks noted on the 2, the rear of your starter would need to move away from the block, which in turn moves the gear closer and straightens that binding of the gears. I wanted to ask even b4 I checked for myself; is it spinning in the correct direction. A motor that is trying to fire when rotating bkwds acts like this and when you 1st put the GP under it backfires a few times. Pay attn to what it does to the overall act of rotation. That is / was an awesome starter you had there, but low voltage is a starter killer, so that may help you keep a few more $ in ya pocket. 1 last thing my brother, this was my 1st look at any of your videos and my comments are aimed at helping you conquer your Goliath. Let me know when you solve it. Guy near the top made a reference about 12v supply, that sounds like something worthy of checking into. You got this! Are any exhaust valves staying closed for whatever reason causing high cyl pressure🎉which would increase the load placed on the battery and starter. Just thoughts in my head that may spark something for ya. Peace!
That slow crank sound like a old school distributor when it’s not in time and u move it and it spins faster check timing I see u did all grounds check timing and just everything a good once over
Check your ignition wire and make sure you get 12 volts while cranking as well and not just 12 volts with the key on. Once the volts drop while cranking not gone send enough power through. Just a suggestion keep grinding
I did check it and also move it to another location just to see if it was doing the same thing! i meant to update y’all on the video but forgot to. the voltage only drops after i’ve bn trying to crank it over and over and the battery has gotten weaker!
Could be a combination of all three of the issues you’re thinking starter flex plates and battery. I’d check timing too before you pay someone just a thought tho. You got this bro 💪🏿
Like stated the hot and ground coming from the Holley PCM needs to go directly to the battery no grounding to frame or psoitive to a junction. They must go directly from the pcm to the battery.
Bro check grounds Check flex plate teeth for 6.0 168 I think Try stock starter Fuel pressure 58 psi Try with maf sensor plugged up Make sure constant key on power source Make sure all the coil wires are plugged in Spray sum starter fluid in the throttle body see if she fire up if she do it’s not enough fuel pressure to fire up
Hit up Ike bro he can prob guide you. Also take the paint off your frame where your grounds are. But that starter Deff dragging. Either go with a stock or corvette
Hey nate, great stuff you're doing, I have a 04 lincoln town car it has the factory sunroof that's broken and I want to change it to a panoramic roof, any inputs bro???
I'm no mechanic but I would swap out the starter its drawing to much .also check and see if the coil packs are plugged into the right side some times you can hook the right side to the left side or vice or versa. hope she fires for ya
Fr fr those grounds need to be to direct metal homie that's y your lights and things going hey wire I had to clean my grounds and do direct metal for my grounds
@@pipelinemotorsports2777 🤦🏿♂️ his timing could still be off which causing it to back fire and not start. Just need to pull the timing cover off and line up TDC AND SEE IF THE TIMING MARKS ARE ALIGNED WITH EACH OTHER.
And i also want a external regulator that can be adjusted. At the moment i don’t have a fuel pressure transducer to be able to have it shown on the handheld.
Take that starter off and get a regular starter you the second person I have seen with the same type of starter that doesn’t work I don’t know why they sale them
Put a manual fuel pressure gauge on at the fuel rail on the schraeder valve…..i dont think your electric sensor is synced correctly to your ecu…..and 26.9 lb hr is not your fuel pressure its your injector flow which isnt right if the car isnt running
