You forgot that some of these also came with a factory diesel motor. The ones that came with a diesel were Canadian specs, I believe.

My first car was a 1985 Caprice Classic it came with 305 but it’s being swapped with a TH400 Trans and 454 Big Block

My grandma had a mid-80s caprice that was mint, and no one in my family understood why they were able to sell it for about $7k around 15 years ago. There’s not much info on it but it’s been on the web for some time. You can even tell by the pics they weren’t taken very long ago

I had that same identical 76 Caprice Landau you had pictured but in blue the interior looked almost new but it had too much rust. It had a 400 small block and rode so smooth but i sold it in 2019..
