Today I made a pair of box jaw tongs as I needed a pair to hold 25 x 5 mm flat bar. These tongs are a great way to securely hold shorter lengths of flat bar due to their 'boxy' shape. I hope you like the video!

Ive just realised, as you were doing the fit up on the bar, that your box jaw tongs look a lot like a pythons head and I mean a lot ...the slight overlength of the flat side make the snake look even more obvious. Nice tongs thanks for sharing.

Good tongs Oscar, I love making tongs, and have a few box jaws, good job on these, like the way you upset the end for the box. Worked out good. Keep it up matey.

Good effort bud. Box jaws can be a pain to do. I’d suggest picking up a copy of mark Aspery’s blacksmithing fundamentals books. I think it’s book one he’s makes these. You might want to put a dab of weld on the wings. Mine started just like yours about 3 years ago. They do wear out. All the best

Thanks for the advice Andy, I’ll have a look at getting one of the books I’ve contemplated about getting them before but they were rather expensive. Think I can justify getting one though, heard a lot of good things about them.

@@oscarduck1920 Yeah they are expensive. Well worth it though as they’re an excellent resource. You used to be able to get copies from BABA books but I don’t know if they still do that. You can buy directly from Mark Aspery on his website but shipping is expensive. Me and a friend bought copies at the same time to save on shipping. All the best

nicely done, really enjoy watching you apply your skills. Really don't see need to trim back the extra length of the box; seems it just adds more area for stability to minimize the side-to-side movement which you want anyway. How would you have changed your approach, maybe make the box side first then you could budget for need of material for the other blank? I both enjoy and learn lot from your videos, much appreciate your efforts in making them and making them available.

Nice work what fuel are you using reason for question I seems to burn very well at moment I'm having issues with the Coke I'm getting

I burn a mix of coke and coal at the moment, defiantly an improvement compared to just coke, it seems to clinker up much better and not as quickly. Hope that helps!
