Box Jumps can be scary!

Most of the time when I “miss” a box jump it’s because I “tripped” catching a part of my foot on the box as I’m going up. I then catch myself with my hand, reset, and then go for the next rep.
HOWEVER, I have missed HARD 2 times on the box scraping up my shin. One time on the Right, one time on the Left. I still have the scars on both shins 😩

After both of those misses, I couldn’t stand for anything to even brush my shins.

The fear that comes from those misses is REAL. But if you work on your setup, execution and landing you WILL get these guys.

Another option I didn’t discuss in this video is to do a running start or step into the jump. This will add more power and momentum going into the setup and help take away some fear. Specially if you’re going for a high height.

Box Jumps WILL make you more explosive and powerful. If you can work them into your routine safely and without pain, I highly encourage them to be done regularly.
