This would have been a $2 billion film easily in a pre- pandemic era. We never thought Endgame's monstrous box office run can be matched but No way home is performing just like Endgame did 2 years ago. Exceeding everyone's expectations. I think it would have definitely dethroned Titanic at the box office. And maybe even had the slightest chance to catch Avatar and Endgame 🔥🔥🔥 with the help of China

just continuing off of what Ray said superhero movies bring in such a wide demographic. and I think that's the real beauty. no matter what we think of those movies, at the end of the day we identify with these heroes. there's a hero for everyone in Marvel AND DC. Spider-Man especially is the easiest to identify with, and he is such a powerful character. that is why I love Spider-Man, and it's somewhat emotional seeing something this big for spidey

Kim is the queen. I was so damn wrong. I wrote that there was no way "Spider-Man No Way Home" would have $250 million weekend opening. Boy did I swing, miss, and strike out. Kim knew that a pandemic was not going to slow this movie down at the box. office.

It was a breathtaking experience especially in IMAX. Last time I saw the AMC theater in the parking lot that packed was rise of Skywalker and Engame. Maya theater laugh cheered and cried and everyone was talking about it as soon as we left the auditorium 💙💙😭😭

All Spiderman haters have to give him. respect. A Spiderman movie came out during a pandemic and became the 2nd biggest opening ever without being released in china. Spiderman got people back in theaters while there is a new variant out there. This isn't the first time Spiderman's made history. Goes to show you how powerfully popular he is. Imagine if everything was normal. This would had been a 2 billion dollar movie. Spiderman the G.O.A.T.

This is about Spiderman reclaiming his throne as most popular superhero since he lost it in 2007 after the awful Spiderman 3. Then a year later the Dark Knight came out and the MCU started. It was a rough decade but Spiderman is back!

@@Literal_Sense first off. Having other Spiderman in there is not a factor because its still Spiderman. They are not a different character. Its all Spiderman. # 2 don't talk about nostalgia. Endgame was ALL about nostalgia. 10 years of nostalgic MCU moments. # 3 nobody really paid a ticket to this film to see Doctor Strange. He was simply a plot device. Nobody was talking about Doctor Strange going into this film. #4 outside of internet geeks most of the general public did not know Tobey and Andrew were in this film. They were never advertised. One of the reasons they got big audience reactions in the film. Alot of people didn't even know they were in it. Another thing i was in the theater sitting next to people who didn't watch Endgame. Don't really watch comic book films. Ends all arguments.

I don’t usually see films twice, I did for Joker but that’s because I saw it with my dad and then my friends said they wanted to see it and I thought “well, I guess I will go again”. I saw Spider-Man No Way Home on Friday and I’m seeing it tomorrow and on Thursday just because I loved it so much. I have never seen a film three times in the span of a week and you know what, I’m all for it. The Showcase Cinema screening we are going to on Thursday here in the UK is nearly sold out and the film would have been out for 8 days by that point. That’s insane (especially with the pandemic)

I was very very lucky to be able to have seen it on thursday, because they had an emergency pres-conference on saturday and shut everything down for sunday (so it was only 3 days) And it really sucks for those who were not able to see it.

No Way Home made opened bigger than Infinity War & Force Awakens, both of which made 2 billion. With an A+ Cinemascore, I think a billion is guaranteed, and 2 billion is on the table if the theaters don't start closing down.

No Way Home has already passed $600 million, and people will be watching & re-watching through this week and next during Christmas & New Years. A billion is almost a lock, but in a few weeks we'll see how bad things get after the holiday travel spreads the variant.

This movie really went above and beyond what I thought it’d be, I was expecting it to be good but it turned out to be pretty amazing, the fan service was used wonderfully, it had some truly bold decisions that I was shocked they went for, especially the very end of the movie, once you see it it just leaves you going “Oh my god, where is this even gonna go?” Like seriously, I am super curious to see where Peter’s character goes from here, I was also pretty surprised by the mid credit scene, because they brought in an element that I think we were all expecting to happen at some point but they ended up going a different direction with it that I’m also curious to see, I’d say this probably my 3rd favorite Spider-Man movie, I still like the first 2 Sam Raimi movies more but I do think this is the best of the Tom Holland trilogy

8:00 I think being in the pandemic for a while, and looking forward to something eventful actually helped the box office. My theory is that if there was no pandemic, spiderman would've done less opening weekend, but overall about the same for the lifetime of the movie

Something we should keep in mind given Ray's question about _Endgame_ being the second most recent movie in the top 10: barring any unusual circumstances like a pandemic, more recent movies will always have an advantage because of inflation and surcharges for IMAX and other specialty formats. Really we should be looking at number of tickets sold instead of amount of money made.

Spider-Man was fan service done right. If it weren't for Into the Spiderverse we wouldn't have this. I took my almost 4 year old twins to their first movie because they love the original spiderman and when toby came in my daughter lit up. It almost kept their attention the whole time just with a few minutes did they start to lose attention span but they were right back into and we actually stayed and watched the entire movie. Spider-Man is their favorite and I don't know who the bigger fan is, my son or daughter?

It most definitely could’ve passed Endgame. It’s not a certainty, of course, but it could have. Just with the hype surrounding it all, the nostalgic appearances of past characters in this movie, and the fact that this is Spider-Man, the most beloved superhero in the world. It could have gotten close, if not surpassed it.

Disney by way of Marvel. I believe it's an 80/20 split where marvel puts in the 80 to produce the film and Sony puts in 20. Then Sony has 100% distribution/marketing.

It’s does the deal was Disney gets to put SM in the MCU Sony keeps the lionshare of the box office from SOLO Spider-Man MCU films but Disney/marvel gets creative control over casting, director and script

As I went into to my screening, I heard someone coming out say No Way Home was in their top 3 Marvel movies of all time. So I figuring I was in for a treat. I wasn't disappointed. [Location: London, UK. Date: 15th December 2021 - opening day] And, yes, the cinema was full to the brim - and it wasn't even the prime time evening showing - but around 4pm in the afternoon!

Honestly it could have gone either way in normal times. It could of made a lot less in normal times. Because there was more movies coming out all the time. And people in general were going to the theatres more because everything was open and lots of movies were coming out. I think because it’s a pandemic and a lot of people haven’t gone to the movies in so long, they were all just waiting for the right film to all get out and have a nice time at the theatre.

Okay. So Marvel has just found out doing a massive multiverse movie can work. Secret Wars is coming. I believe it will top Avengers Endgame in terms of box office. I think we will see old MCU characters like Iron Man, Captain America and so on return and I also believe we will see old Marvel characters from other films. I could see Hugh Jackman back as Logan, I could see Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man again. By the way, Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man clashing because of how different they are would be wonderful to see. I feel it would be based off the 2015 Johnathan Hickman era with Emperor Doom (the real big bad of the MCU). If Endgame was a celebration of the MCU then Secret Wars would be a celebration of all Marvel films in general

The will they won't hey be in it I think encouraged more people to by tickets. Putting Tobey and Andrew in the would have made very small difference.

I guess that's the good thing about small local chains. After the movie we went to chick fil a at 9:30 and they were already closed. Love this whole build back better.....and by better they mean worse. Hey we're saving the world.....we gotta feel it some where. What's next will they want me to bend over so I can take it....never mind.

@@dions4683 Sony doesn't own all the rights to spiderman, just the movie rights. It is a Sony movie but also a Marvel/Disney movie.

@@topher3127 I never said everything Spiderman. I meant all the rights to the movie/ Spiderman and his characters within film. They financed it, they distributed it, they marketed it, Disney/Marvel only produced it.

I scheduled my second vaccination shot just so I could I go see this movie. I caught covid before vaccinations were even available and had the aches for only a day. I had no other symptoms. I was slow to get my first vaccination shot and having the second shot never crossed my mind. But since the restrictions demand two jabs just to go to the movies, I have no other option but to get it done.

I haven't been in a theater to watch a movie in 2 years but with all the hype surrounding this movie I took the risk and went on Sunday and boy o boy I am glad I did. It was fantastic! So Good! You really do need to see it in the movie theater - it is a Theater Experience. Tom Holland kills it! Jon Watts kills it as the Director. Everyone involved should be very proud! It is worth of the hype and then some! It is important to note that the box office for this movie has been and will be compromised because of Covid add to that China will not allow it to open and be seen in that Huge market! I will bet money that China won't let it open BUT they will turn a blind eye to the pirating of it. Such a shame!

@@nikunjdixit1175 If you see the graph Endgame had 4,662 theaters and NWH had 4,336 theaters so alot of the theaters weren't even opened plus the amount of people that didn't go im pretty sure it would get atleast to 340

@@ReiviewTV China doesn't play a part in domestic BO numbers. And again, a 100 million dollar difference is more than 1/3 of the business NWH made currently. Even with lower capacity, it was not going to make up that difference.

Movies like NWH and Endgame is what makes me want to go to the theaters, to share those hype moments with strangers, and yet there're people who complain about those that get hype, that only want silence in theaters, that's just boring, unless is a scary movie or like A Quiet Place.

Yes Sony marketed the film and got to keep the major info the box office but Disney had creative control not Sony

@@greatwuta Sony did allow Marvel to use the character this is true; however, Marvel is the one that made the story and the movie while Sony is the one that marketed and distributed the movie. So it is a Marvel movie with a Sony character.

@@greatwuta No because you're implying that Disney, who have the more money making shared cinematic universe, did not ALSO allow spiderman into the MCU and finance the movie. You're minimising their contribution.

@@greatwuta Disney, homecoming and far from home are already on Disney + so Sony wouldn’t do that that would defeat the purpose. Spider-Man is still a Sony property yes, they gave marvel/Disney creative control while spider is in the MCU meaning marvel picks the cast, script scree writers look and tone of the film. Sony keeps the lionshare of the box office for spidey solo films connected to the MCU so Sony has made a killing and marvel got what they wanted. But make no mistake this is marvel version of Spider-Man
