i remember meglo boxing back in the days on toonami and it was one of the best anime there was and will always be but they never did come out with the second season
The characters in this anime is so well done, no evil greed bullcrap just people with different motives that motivates each other even if they are rivals
Ngl Yuri is a real badass here, removing his implants literally just to have a fight with Joe. It's basically a worse handicap of him still recovering from his surgery than the first fight with him fighting with only one hand.
reminds me of TJ Combo from Killer Instinct evil corporation gave him cybernetics in his arms which let him climb back up the ladders but when he didn't throw a match that they told him to, they exposed his implants (as if they didn't give them to him) so in spite he just.. ripped them out of his arms, getting some kinda electric power out of it, and a healing factor apparently
yuri deciding to remove his implants also really encapsulates one of the shows biggest strengths. which is its characters and their motivations. yuri, the main antagonist of the first season could have whooped joes ass with his superior gear but instead chooses to endure immense pain and handicap himself to fight joe on equal footing and even with that handicap he matches joe blow for blow until the very end. let me repeat, the main antagonist went way out of his way to fight the protagonist on equal footing. what other show sees the big bad being an honorable BAMF like that?
@@greenhat8978 true, that's a good point. Still, feels like there's a better alternative for controlled stress testing with less risk to the participant and technology. This is anime though, and my original joke is just pointing out the absurdness
Just finished binge watching the entire 1st season in 1 day. It’s a really awesome anime.great musical score and the storyline and acting were on point.
This is one of my favorite shows. Season one was a delight. It was like a great meal. Filled you up. You could probably eat more, but you’re content. Season two, however? A whole meal. All the good shit about the first season, with an even better plot, character development/regression, and a banger soundtrack. Definitely one of my faves.
What we loved is seeing a character with personality, get challenged, doing his best against all odds, fighting for his dream. Not another Mary Sue. Marvel could learn one or two things about this anime.
@@actuallyronnysao5861 I really shouldn't be surprised because I've liked other anime about things I'm not interested in! Anime can make absolutely anything interesting.
y'know somethin'... your Recaps are just about the ONLY ones on here that actually recap the shows, kinda sad but at the same time its amazing how you summed up a full 2 seasons of Megalo Box in half an hour!
this anime is literally goated Ive been boxing for 10 years now and have seen the ups and downs of the sport season 2 touches on opiate and pill addiction and that shit is real so many people on gear and other drugs and pain killers
Nice story shows that a man cannot be relied on machinery to win,and having joe returning the sport to its original form! Also his opponents were also really honorable people and not divas that wanted victories & stuff! I like this because its not going over the top!
I love this animation/art style so much, does it have a name? It was in DBS Broly, it was in Mushoku Tensei, Megalo Box,Dragonball Z: Legend fan film etc, wherever it is that anime is bound to be timeless.
*Spoiler for the end of the video* I was listening to the thing with the 'Two boxers about to fight, one says it's his final fight and is wearing gear to do it safely, while the other one has issues too. They both really love fighting but have to hold back a bit for their own health' I was totally convinced they would do the old 'Ah, no, we need a proper fight- even if it kills us because blah blah blah honour etc'... realised I've run into that in a lot of these type of anime's where they build a fight up like that but... this was oddly refreshing- they just had a safe fight and went home. That... is a breath of fresh air, nice ^^
That fight was not safe. Yuri had his gear torn off his flesh and Joe fought for 3 months straight to climb the ranks just to get to the final. Joe was pissing blood. Ultimately b/c of the fight Yuri lost his ability to walk.
These mechanical limbs are a working marketing strategy because it never existed before in anime which had to do with sports history. Now, nobody can copy the idea. Else it'd be boring as fuck. Because something similar already exists. The only thing that can be done is work together with the author and make new Megalo Box stories with him, with characters designed by yourself, which fit in his world building. Just my personal opinion.
I watched it for a hit but felt really disappointed that tue fight cenws were mid at best The story is good and is probably the best part about this anime But when a boxing anime with robot arms has the story as the best part It's a little sad
