I was at this great brawl... my friends were in the Furlano entourage and not to be fucked with. Pryor's people were lucky they didn't get hurt. I remembered it was one hot sweaty night... got to meet Gil Clancy and got in to the after party. Awesome night I'll always remember. I would have loved to see the decision on film... I was in the ring for it.
I was 10ish when Aaron was the man. So many fights were on tv then. I'd plan my saturday to be home if Aaron was going to be on. The most entertaining boxer for me. Who could be a hurricane of punches and take a shot like Aaron? Nobody!
I was at this fight. Fulano made a good acount of himself, but the great Pryor was at his sublime supreme best. Just a great counter puncher. Hardly any fans there, unfortunately it was poorly promoted.

Credit to Nicky Furlano here, big underdog and floored twice early on but went 15 rounds with an all time great Light Welterweight breaking Pryor's 26 fight KO streak. Furlano had his moments in the fight too. Tough kid.

This is the perfect example of why styles make fights. Furlano's defense it seems didn't allow him to be mauled by Pryor. I don't think Pryor was prime here and I think maybe the 1982 Pryor wins more convincingly unless this isn't Furlano's prime either. . Furlano was a tough dude, surprised to hear he beat Hearns in the amateurs as Pryor also did. Furlano just went for it h
This fight was obviously fixed. Pryor accidentally decked Furlano twice in the 1st round and then spent the next 14 rounds trying not to hurt him. Furlano was controlled by Montreal mob boss Frank Cotroni. Cotroni wanted Furlano to go the distance and Pryor did what he was told.
Hearns would have slaughtered him at 147. Pryor was dropped by mediocrities at 140, and had 14 rds of hell with a past his best Arguello. Could you imagine Arguello in with Hearns or Leonard?
This was the last time Pryor, looked impressive, in the ring, after this sadly, it was all downhill, for him. I think his next fight was a split decision win.
