For me, I think the best effective move would be right leg kick to his right knee. I’ve Made a mistake of trying to connect to his left knee. Which leaves me to vulnerable and right in front of his path. My question is should I use an inside kick or an outside kick with an outside kick I could escape as an executing the kick my body would be directed in a defensive retreat position if I use an inside kick With my right leg, my follow up is facing him but if I use an outside kick the direction of my escape is already committed so if the kick is an effective or if I miss at least I would have begun my escape route. My question is, should I try to throw a jabber combo followed up with outside kick we just use defence duck, his punches for the outside kick to his kneecap which we totally demobilise. That’s all I’m looking for because I wasn’t starting a fight. I was just defending myself

@@dancooke8811why do mma practitioners always seems to ask what a boxer can defend when the vast majority of mma practitioners have glass chins?
@tomshepherd4901
@tomshepherd4901 11 месяцев назад
I agree that style doesn't matter, however, one fundamental problem and the reason you don't see pak sau very often in full contact combat sports is that human reaction time is slow and fixed. If a person can throw a punch to point of impact in 200ms or less, you will not even be able to move to block it before it connects. This is why range and movement are so vitally important. If the person is a skilled fighter, you won't be able to intercept a punch once it's in motion. You have to maintain distance and movement, then when the opponent closes distance, execute a premptive block and stop the potential punch before it's thrown. From there, maintaining contact and directing the opponent's position and movement will give Wing Chun a distinct advantage.
@Selfdefensegoat
@Selfdefensegoat 11 месяцев назад
Trapping is rarely seen because it is a brief moment in time in combat sports. They by pass the trapping range from striking and go straight to grappling. They are few who know how to hit in trapping range but they do not possess the short range power to stop a fight because it is not meant to stop the fight but defend against the attack.

...Oh you mean the fight where Muhammed Ali hillariously dangled over the ropes to avoid his kicks? Not sure what you were thinking with these points, Boxing still is a versatile combat style because it masters your ability to use your fists, your movements with your legs, and head movement. P.S there is a kickboxing style thats basically 90 percent boxing with some kicks or knees. Also, you can easily prop your hands up and go into a perfect boxing stance, and quickly use your hands which a boxer is amazing at using. ...You can't exactly quickly go into any kicking stance and deliver a head or low kick that fast because unlike street fights, there is no ref, the fight starts mostly when someone is already throwing an attack at you, whats that attack going to be mostly? A punch. Plus, fighting for real and in a ring are different. Everyone else who has been in both can agree. @@ashurafreedan

@@dancooke8811the funny thing is that JKD isnt even a proper Style. Its a Mindset. Lee said that you should be like water. Some People mistook it for him saying you have to be like water as in that its a flowing movement and you should be able to adapt mid fight. But thats n9t what he meant with that. He meant to ADAPT like water to different scenarios. He wanted people to mix different fighting styles that fit their body type, talents and usual opponents. He was very keen on making sure people who are tall use fighting styles that emphasize the length of their arms and legs. That people who are small should learn to use their speed and explosive power. Everyone should learn some groundwork but not rely ONLY on that. I think if more people would realize that there isnt a single MA that dominates the rest.. and anyone would be a better fighter if he would learn a little bit from 3-4 styles that fits himself best, we wouldnt have alot of the arguments we have online.

Not in boxing, not in kickboxing, not in MMA, not Muy Thai. A man who relies first and foremost on blocking as his defense is a prime candidate for a fake and since action is always faster than reaction, he will always be a day late and a dollar short. The boxer will pump fake the jab, which draws out the block or parry and then he will hit the exposed shin. This is the first video I have seen so far I would recommend another strategy: Looking back and several years experimenting crossover full contact sparring I would not recommend to enter a boxers terrain by using wing chun or similar in fight techniques. Whenever I had the role of the boxer it was very easy to simply "overpower" the wing chun practicioner. I only but constantly trained the basics of wing chun so I wasn't the highlight as a wing chun fighter, but I found it very hard to intercept a boxers combo im any way. Other practicioners had the same experience. It turned out to be much more efficient to instantly take hands up and throw your body sidewards into him and make him fall or tumble, if possible push him off and simply run away. If this would be for a street fight situation and you know he is a boxer and is coming for you this could work better than expected even though its that simple. When it comes to fight a boxer in a ring or crossover sparring with another style there is always the rule "avoid HIS terrain" Don't wrestle a wrestler, don't punch a boxer, don't clinch a thaiboxer, and dafuq don't fight someone with a sword if you are unarmed. 😂 Guys you do great videos and I really appreciate all the work you guys did and do. Keep it up. If you like try what I recommended. 😊 Maybe its worth a try.

feints really really fuck up an overactive defense like this as well, if you’re moving to block every individual punch, you need to start moving the SECOND that you see them start to throw the punch, that means it will be extremely easy to get you to fall for feints. you’ll either overcommit to feints leaving you open else where, or have to hesitate before blocking to determine if it’s a real hit, making it really hard to react in time if it is a real punch. managing range and using head movement or shelling up when you can’t will just alway be superior to bringing your hands down away from your face.

The more I watch wing chun videos that more I see techniques that are used in boxing. He went from a cross block (used by Archie Moore and old George Forman) back to a high guard to a weave.

Wing Chun use of hands to parry is it's flaw. A good boxer will feint to draw the parry hand and counter. You see it all the time in boxing when someone gets to comfortable parrying shots away from their chin

THANK YOU! I have always said - "Styles don't fight each other, PEOPLE do". I have seen so much "ABC vs XYZ" BS on the internet. At the end if the day, it's the FIGHTER that dictates outcome, not the art he trains. Particular "arts" put particular tools in your box. Having different tools is great. Ultimately, it boils down to how well you USE those tools tho.

Love the intro and wing chun is great, but catching a boxers hands probably wouldn’t be my first option due to their speed. I would use the No shadow kick to the inside of the knee and instead of catching the Jab maybe striking the shoulder or inside of the arm 🤔🥊

To people saying that this wont work in a fight and he does it slowly and that's not realistic to an actual fight, listen, I do both boxing and wingchun, the way they train you is slow and steady first, so you can get use to the movement and see what you gotta do then you add the speed to it once you got it down, that's how you build the muscle memory, if u tried learning that shit at full speed u aint gonna learn shit all, and for people that are like just do boxing it always works, boxing is very simple therefor can be easily countered by someone that knows how, boxing and karate are good when ur fighting someone else thats also using it, in a fight with no rules against people that know other stuff its 50/50

I practice jkd/mma and still use a lot from wing chun. The form and trapping isn't the problem, it's how they try to apply it. Watch how Kamaru Usman ko'd Jorge Masvidal, Usman handtrapped to a right hand. Watch how Jorge knocked out Darren Till, Jorge did a shifting handtrap to hooks combo and Darren knocked Jorge down earlier in their fight, with a handtrap combo. Handtraps work, it's just a moment in time and you don't wait for connection to trap, you attack with the trap. The place where chi sau sensitivity really works is in grappling; such as when you are mounted on an opponent THAT'S where you can more easily roll elbows over their guard and flow around their arms to throw punches (not that you can't roll an elbow over their guard in standup, both Jon Jones and Tony Ferguson have done this in MMA)

Close Quarter Combat is all about self awareness, reflexes and readiness of the body and attacking/defending limbs. This is achieved through PRACTICE, PRACTICE and PRACTICE. Just like doing math right or driving a vehicle. Knowing how to do it is not enough, it is practice that makes practicality effective. Coaches will talk and guide, that's their job. Through RU-vid that's all we can get. But to be effective in application, watching videos only will do nothing useful. Exercise and practice. Find a partner and spar, spar, spar!!!

Sorry for the bad grammar I don’t speak much English
