Joseph Tidd was born without a left hand. But he's not alone. He recently met soccer player Carson Pickett, who is just like him. Mireya Villarreal has their story.

I was born without a left hand. Don't worry, your son will have no issues at all. I bench 100kg for reps, I drive stick, I ranked top3% in bf1 on playstation, I can almost play snow by the rhcp on guitar, I became an English teacher, I have a gf and I never got anything handed to me. My parents never treated me differently and never helped me tie my shoes and that made me function like I do. Your kid will be just fine xx

I was born missing my left hand (due to Symbrachydactyly), and I remember how amazing it felt when I finally met another person my age who had the same difference as me. The feeling of finally not being alone with something rare that you never see in real life or online, finally being able to talk with someone about experiences that friends and family normally can't relate to. We're still friends today, and this video just made me so happy inside

This is a real example of why inclusion and representation is so damn important. Showing kids that people like them, whether it's their faith, race, gender, sexual orientation, physical challenge, nationality, etc, exist and are valuable. It also shows others that those perceived different than them aren't really all that different.

Instant smooth accommodation without loudly declaring it or acting like it's a special pun, just saying it like it's nothing. That's what equality sounds like, to me. My cousin was born missing 3 fingers, his middle three. He was so self-conscious about it and would hardly go out in public because he was so embarrassed. One day, his baby sister who was 1 year old and just starting to talk, made the point that his hand looked really cool, she then told him that she wanted a hand just like his. I watched my older cousin break down in tears, and to this day, 3 years later, he is VERY overprotective of her.
