A driver who police say was under the influence hit and killed a teenage boy riding a scooter in Long Beach early Sunday morning, according to authorities. KTLA 5 News - Keeping Southern Californians informed since 1947.
Los Angeles leads the NATION in hit-and-run accidents. It's because of the sanctuary city and sanctuary state policies! Enjoy what you all wanted and voted for.
Over 30,000 people die each year from vehicle related collisions and that's just in the USA.... The problem is many people treat it like another day in the park. Becoming complacent in your driving is the first step towards disaster.
Now a days kids don't want to go to sleep early on weekends. My son always demand to play video games until midnight like his friends do. I always reject him and my husband think it is better for him to stay at home than going out at midnight. It still does not convince me.
Children are not safe even in there own home. A drunk driver ran her car into a home killing 2 children during a birthday party.. Just happened not long ago in Michigan..😢
Im not blaming the kid but scooters too need to learn they can’t just be thinking they are cars if they get hit there won’t be anything to absorb the impact and will be sent flying
@@sting114 I don’t know much about the case to say anything I just hate when I’m driving and see scooters driving slow taking up my lane acting like they a fucken semi trailer truck
I live in Anaheim and I’m shocked by the way so many of these young boys maneuver those things through cars and traffic!!!!! 😫 it’s crazy!!!! Even more insane to me the parents! 😫 do they talk to these kids about being vigilant/precautious and safe for everyone/drivers included! Just potentially causing accidents!
@@ceciliauribe812 today I almost got hit by a kid in those scooters he made a right turn from Main Street to residential area and almost hit me my girl and my puppy I got mad and he kept going down so fast and crashed into a car exiting his garage kid got sent flying.
These scooter drivers often ride on the sidewalk, go flying across the street to cross. Even driving carefully, you have to be careful not to hit one of them. If pedestrians are crossing the street they have to be careful when they step off the curb. The scooters should not be driving on the sidewalk in the first place, but think it is okay to fly across the street without looking for cars
Nowadays they make scooters that go as fast as cars.. its lethal but makes it so convenient for people. Too bad there is not enough dedicated bike/scooter lanes.
I agree. It's ridiculous. They missing the point. Just blame the adult, but not the drunk scooterist🤨 why else would his friends "walk out the liquor store"
those young people can't be seen on the scooters....One up on my hill dressed in all black, thinking he was cool....I was thinking he's a dead man scooting! wake up people! you're like moving speed bumps out there!
Bad parenting. Teen should be in bed at that time . Traffic laws for scooters need to change. Too many reckless scooter riders out there . Most likely drivers can’t see the scooter rider because there’s no lightning and it’s dark ?
First of all I seen everything that happened. She was drunk with her lights off also speeding up to hit the teen walking with his family, has nothing to do with parenting. Ignorance at its finest. She fled after the hit and run crashing right next to my house. She tried to flee on foot also.
You’ve commented this same comment in 5 videos , how is this bad parenting ? You’re telling me you never snuck out in high school ? Why aren’t you blaming the driver who was driving DRUNK and going 80+ in a 35. You’re logic is insane
Damn, you can tell the cousin is messed up in the head. No real signs of sadness even though I’m sure they were close. He’s used to trauma and he’s so young.
@@sbsk2526no. You can see REAL remorse or sadness through people trying to get attention heck probably didn't like him and got rid of him without getting the blame
Our heartfelt condolences and prayers to the family, friends and classmates of this young man who was taken too soon. Please reach out to a grief counselor if you don't have anyone to talk about the loss of your loved one.💛 I pray that justice prevails in this matter. May our Father in heaven receive the young man's soul and may he rest in peace. Amen 🕊
i want to know the whole truth but for now just rest in peace to the young man and hope shes okay to tell all of us what happened. prayers to the family of the young man
They need to make it ILLEGAL for anyone under the age of 18...to use POWER Motor Apparatus on the Streets and Sidewalks... those things go over 50mph...most vehicle roads are below 35mph...🤷
I understand that the driver was drunk and I know she is at fault but does anyone see a stop sign at the corner? Could that sign have prevented this accident?
This is happening a lot in my city too (way smaller than these LA/OC cities) 3 weeks in a row someone was killed by a hit and run. They shouldn’t even be given a bond just give them equal treatment. But it’s California criminals over the law
If you’re too drunk, don’t drive !!! 😤 u r 35 ? WTH ! U r too old to make a stupid mistake like that. I’m 34 and I know not to drink when I’m driving or better yet ask for a ride gosh !! So unfair poor kid I hope his family heals from this horrible situation
Ah damn. Very terrible way to die and secondly terrible way to spend the rest of your life in prison. I also almost creamed someone in my Durango who was on a scooter and swerved in my lane; dead sober. Ya’ll be careful on those things and REMEMBER don’t blast out in the middle of the street or intersections. Atleast she was wise enough to come back to the scene. It’s gotta be insane knowing in that very moment you killed somebody while DUI and you’re going to prison for life or pretty damn close. Imagine if you take an Uber instead of DUI and speeding in your car. Keep it parked or get it towed somewhere. All that is not only cheaper than a DUI, but if you accidentally kill somebody; even if proved it wasn’t your fault, you’re drunk and you’ll do prison time.
My kids ride scooter’s to school since I don’t drive they wear helmets and when they use it and make the stop signs and traffic lights, they encounter with people who tried doing this and it’s horrible they still have to catch the train and bus to get to school ! Something must be done to protect our people who don’t use cars.
Electric scooters needs to understand that they are faster, smaller and depending on what they are wearing, they are much less visible to drivers than most of the bicyclists out there. So, its imperative that they take extra precautions to obey all traffic laws. I drive for rideshares, and i don't believe drivers are used to spot electric scooters so far yet. I am not expressing anything relating to this story. RIP kid.
