Today’s Quarantine Drum Video is such a fun song to play! BoySetsFire has been one of my favorite bands since I was 17 years old. I was fortunate enough to tour Australia with these dudes back in 2013 and watch them kill it every night! I was trying my hardest to not be a fanboy and punish the shit out of Nathan Gray about song lyrics, history of the band, etc. I don’t think I succeeded in those efforts, but they were all super cool to me and I’ve even formed friendships with a couple of them, today.
Matt Krupanski was no longer with BSF by that time. But that dude was definitely one of the biggest influencers on my playing. He had the raddest feel in hardcore and always knew how to compliment a song. Some of his fills and accents were as catchy/hooky as any vocal or guitar melody! And Jared Shavelson definitely does Matt’s drum parts more justice than me but as always, I did my best to honor a true (to me) LEGEND!! Here’s “Falling Out Theme” by BoySetsFire! 🤘😷🤘
