Boy was I confused! Firewood Bin Complete 

These massive concrete blocks are awesome for country properties! We just completed a huge wall with the decorative version of these large concrete blocks. They have 'castle' tops and look like gigantic Legos. They have cap blocks for the tops that are half the thickness and have no pins on the top. The blocks you used are fantastic for what you are using them for, but if you need a 'fancy' wall, most concrete plants sell decorative blocks as well. I agree about the blocks being far from perfect, but if a bit of care is taken in the setting, they make a very strong retaining wall that looks real nice! Ours weighed 2,400 lbs. each and were 2' x 2' x 4' and the wall is about 70' long. It will have a poured concrete propane tank at at one end when complete. Plenty of video if anyone is interested.

I’ve been a overhead crane operator for 35 years and heavy equipment also. Any time you add cables to the mix you are going to get some swing and hydraulic booms make it rough to catch it. He’s doing a good job it’s just the nature of the game.

I built a small retaining wall and a manure pit with those blocks. Got 30 of them delivered from one hour away for $83 a piece. Best decision ever, simple and lasts forever. Owning the machinery at my disposal to move them was priceless. I was told buy the guy that the 2x2x6 block that I bought like yours are 4K.

I’m sitting here watching Ty watching them set concrete blocks and it hits me… this kid is blessed to have a family that exposes him to a true working man world… tractors, excavators, dogs, building stuff, cutting trees and access to a hundred flippin’ acres!

LOL on the inside vs outside dogs. I'm 67 and my dogs and our kids dogs were pretty much outside. These days everyone has them inside, from the little ankle biter Chihuahuas to Great Danes. Cool firewood storage pad. Thanks for sharing.

Those concrete blocks are what we used at the redi-mix plant i worked at. They’re indestructible & ours were about 12 ft high. They formed the aggregate bins, approximately 40’x40’x12’ high. Its amazing how much material they hold. A great way to make a outdoor container. Love the videos and God bless y’all

Put 2 or 3 more tiers and some trusses on 4 foot centers, Purlins, and metal roofing, then you could keep your firewood dry.

Nice thing about these blocks is, if they outlive their usefulness you can just pick them up and use them for some other application.

Honestly now that you've done all that work, letting all that wood sit there wet/frozen with moisture seems counter productive. I know, easy to sit here typing away comments on my computer, but still, think of how wet the wood buried in piles and stacks will get. New subscriber, just love the channel.

We made close to 200 of those blocks to line a creek bed on my fathers property in Indiana. We had three forms to pour into and concrete truck drivers would bring their excess and dump into them. It took about two years to get that many. Good looking setup Mike!

Mike, yes I agree it looks good. One cubic foot of concrete weighs about 150 pounds x 24 cf for the 6 footer equals 3,600 lbs. sorry to hear about the Bronco I was getting excited to see it. Hopefully soon. Have a great week😁👍

The pad is complete and looks great! Time to fill'er up! This project took a while but to stand back and look at it, it was worth the wait. I was very happy Levi and Ty made it there to see the blocks being set, don't ya know that boy's mind was racing! Well, it finally happened, I've been picking up my 2 youngest grandchildren, Gracie 11 and Mason 9 from school on Tuesdays and Thursdays when mom, a child therapist works in office. Yesterday morning, Mason tested positive for covid. Mom's had 2 vaccination shots, but no one else has. They were both in my house this past Thursday. I've been told by 2 doctors that I will not survive covid as I'm a bad diabetic and have a non cancerous mass in my left lung. I can only walk a short distance and my heart is pounding hard. I take 6 shots of 3 insulins a day. So I guess I don't get to be w grandkids for a while. 10 days doc says for Mason, but dad and sis, my ex lives next door and fixes their supper daily, so she may get it and my 2 sons are off this week renovating my ex's house next door so if Jason gets it, Josh will too. If someone in the home has it, the kids may pass it even after they're over it. My days here are few as it is, I just really don't want to go w cancer or covid. On the bright side, Levi's gonna be there daily and you have so many things going on, I can start my days as always w the Morgans! I saw lots of firewood in the forest and you've got some logs stacked up, the pad should fill pretty quick! I'm anxious to see the bundled wood stacked up for sale, and maybe Hunter can help some w that! So many good things happening on the Morgan's estate! It is just awesome that you share w us, thank you from the bottom of my heart!👍🚜❤‼

Mike I'm so jealous, not about the firewood bin but your ability to be outdoors. We've been having 50 mph sustained winds with 70+ mph gusts that has the sky filled with this desert sand, so not been able to do anything outdoors 😔

Looks great, Mike! Well done! I enjoyed the discussion about dogs being inside versus outside. My grandmother who was a very old school Farmer, never allowed any animals inside the farmhouse! She ran that place with an iron fist. The farm had tons of animals, but they were all outside, and by golly, that's where they stayed! 💪

Firewood bin turned out great. Time to get in the woods now. Just got back from a successful antelope hunt in Wyoming, we had a blast. Just dropped the "goat" off at the taxidermist and heading to the farm to catch up on sawmill work. Can't wait for your elk hunt. Good luck and another great video.

Nice T-shirt Melissa, Silverton CO, was a really cool town. I was fortunate to spend two days there while hiking the Colorado Trail from Denver to Durango.

We set all of ours on a gravel footer. You have plenty of gravel packed down now to hold those blocks and they aren't moving. You have lost a lot of square feet of wood storage 3' around the sides. The nice thing is if you change your mind move them out with your excavator and try it on gravel. Order 6 more blocks lots of additional room.

I did the same concrete block bins at our ranch one for firewood one for topsoil that I screen and one for gravel… best investment you will love it!

I'm currently in the process of building bins myself (I own a roll off dumpster business) and my Case SV-250 skidsteer will pick them up using the tip of one of my forks. My company estimates theirs at 3800 lbs each, so your excavator should handle them no problem.

When you get excited over concrete blocks as much as a cool new vehicle you know your easy to please.

Concrete bin like that is ideal. However something I learned from heaping firewood is that on hot ideal drying days the convection in the pile is downward because the evaporation causes the air in the pile to cool and get heavier so it wants to move down. Gutters in the pad would allow for air to leave the bottom of the pile. I think what I would do is put blocking under your blocks to let air leave from the bottom of the pile. I made frames to create holes to the center of my heaps and was amazed at the COLD air movement out of the holes on a hot day. Literally a cold draft exiting
