Second story: Boyfriend kicks her out of bed every morning but when she suggests a couch for her to sleep on, he says "I'm not contributing because you're the one who wants it". @cats1970

She clarified a bunch in the updates that COMPLETELY flips the script. He´s been the one sleeping on the inflatable mattress for the past couple weeks, magically the cat hasn´t destroyed it so far. He asked to trade for a couple days, this was posted after the 2nd night. He supported the couch purchase, but can´t pay his share until the end of the month. He told her to buy it now and he´ll pay her then if she can´t manage with the mattress until then. Plus some other things that should´ve been in the original post. Don´t think this relationship´s gonna last because he´s seeing their age difference real clear in just a few months of living together.

@@cats1970 Okay thats crazy how just picking the details to tell can have you not lie at all but still misrepresent the story entirely... Tho now he's a bad option because of the huge age difference instead, so it at the end of the day things turn around to the same result anyway. Why did he even date someone so much younger than him in the first place if he wasn't going to acknoedlge the obvious life experience difference that shed be too young to realise.

I used to get so angry and so mean. I used to yell a lot. Not in the very beginning, but once the cramps started getting really bad. When I got an IUD put in, it helped to significantly reduce the cramps I would get. I still get angry, but I can at least recognize recognize that it is hormonal and that the extreme pain used to amplify the hormonal range Based on my experience alone, I think that it’s a bit early for her to be in that much pain. Same type of guy here, a fellow transmasc with periods. By all means it doesn't excuse the behavior but when that behavior happens you talk to the kid about it. It seems like the mom tried to do so but didn't like. Try to change anything if that makes sense? When you're talking to someone about their discomfort in that moment, especially a child, you try to help them be rid of their discomfort. A heating pad for cramps, lots of water, pills that lessen the pain, talking about which products would be more comfortable, talking about possible medical ways to lessen it like birth control. All of these are more productive than kicking the child out of the house??? I think part of her attention seeking behavior is that the gf didn't show any care for her discomfort. She wants to express her pain to someone who may understand it but the person she reaches out to is dismissive of it, using the reasoning of being at work. We don't hear from op about whether she tried to help after it started at ALL, just that she talked about it with her when it started and that's it. The dad should also be more present in this as well, talking with his gf about HER frustrations and reprimanding his kid for her violent behavior. I think some people forget that children are scared and experiencing this type of stuff for the first time. It's how you react to it that cements how they continue with their behavior.

The thing about saying “not a lot of guys seems interested in me” is that sometimes that is true and has nothing to do with self esteem. I once told my mom that not a lot of guys are interested in sun me and she went on about confidence and I was like “no mom, I’m fine, I know that. I was just saying that I find a lot more women are interested in me than men. I do great with the ladies mom.” We have been theory crafting about the why on this ever since. For the girl with the insane response to periods: I would seriously suggest getting her checked for PMS (or other similar conditions). It is can be very serious and overlooked very easily, especially in kids because they are just assumed to be a brat, rather than having an actual condition, where the individual cannot control their actions. As someone with endometriosis, for a while people thought I was just being overly dramatic because I was screaming and crying on the floor in pain, when in reality, I was feeling 10x the normal amount of pain, and it needed to be treated, because the pain was so intense I didn't eat for days.

As a person with low self-esteem, that girl saying "not a lot of guys seemed interested in me" is something that never once struck me as self-deprecating. When I've said stuff like that, it felt like I was just stating a basic fact, like saying the sky is blue today or mustard is yellow. If you set out a plate of blueberry muffins and only a couple get eaten, you feel right in saying "not a lot of folks seemed interested in the blueberry muffins". I'm flabbergasted that saying something like that is low self-worth/self-esteem. I can understand if you say "the blueberry muffins must be nasty" or "everyone hates blueberry muffins" but just noting a proven lack of interest being low self-worth is eye-opening to me.

The 'innocuous little remarks" we make stack on top of each other until it's a mountain. The Fake It Til' You Make It mentality works both ways. If you constantly remark that people don't seem interested in you, you will slowly start to believe it, you will act in accordance with this belief. Or, conversely, you could say, "You know what? It's okay if they aren't interested because *I think I'm interesting,* and that's good enough for me!" Say it enough times and you'll start to believe it. The way we talk to ourselves has an immense impact on our psyche and self-worth, whether it be positive or negative. You only get one self, it's best to love them the way you would want someone else to love you. It takes time but it's worth it. Trust me, I speak from experience.

Exactly I feel the same. I went to a big school with 4,000 students. I was never asked out and being one of the few girls that didn't receive Valentine gifts was humiliating. Any guy I liked and worked up the courage to ask out treated me like a nuisance and rejected me very harshly. One guy even passed my note around his group of girl friends to make fun of me. I have social anxiety and writing things down seemed better but I was wrong. I wasn't even asked to prom which was devastating. But any advice and comfort I'd receive was love yourself before others can. How can people treat me like that and then expect me to find it in myself to love myself. It's extremely hard. I believe sometimes it takes effort even from family and friends to show you good qualities about yourself to help the journey of self love but I didn't receive any of that. Even as an adult I struggle with dating until my husband. I almost thought I would never find someone.

As someone who gets extreme periods to the point that it legitimacy feels like I am not in control of my mind or body, i feel for that little girl. I have PMDD and when I'm on my period unmedicated, I absolutely feel like I can't control my actions. Part of me feels suicidal and part of me is sobbing because I want desperately to be alive and I'm terrified that I'll kill myself. I've never gotten to a point of physical violence, but I have had extreme emotional outbursts. One time in particular, by far the worst outburst I've had as an adult, was when I was laying in my room with a migraine and just severe pain in my whole body after having slammed a door because I was arguing with my dad. He decided that every time I slam a door he was going to charge me $10 and he was coming to collect. I was livid. I was in pain, I felt emotionally ragged and I just screamed at him until he left. I did not let him get a single word in. Afterwards, I cried, because it feels shitty to be that emotionally turbulent. I didn't like my reaction. I didn't want to be that way or to feel that way. I'm on medications now that help me a lot. I'm no longer suicidal, and one of them stopped my period for 9 months. When I do have a period I'm still in life ruining pain, but that's a journey I'm still trying to navigate. I guess my point is that a period can definitely cause that kind of horrible behavior without someone telling her that it's okay to act like that. I hope she can get the help she needs.

@@WandaMaximoff1998 she didn't calm down, she stopped screaming and started crying. OP phrased it like she calmed down, but she said she calmed down and then started to cry because she was just trying to explain. That part was actually the most resonant to me. I remember once saying something really cruel to my mom. I remember her asking why I was so mean to her and I immediately went to my room and sobbed because I hated the fact that I had been so mean to my mom. OP snapping maybe gave her a split second of realizing that she was acting terribly and then the hormones kicked in and amplified the guilt and remorse AND the deep sadness of not being able to explain or fully understand why she was acting that way. But idk, I'm not in that kid's head. I do think OP was right to break up with the guy because even if her behavior can be explained, it needs to be addressed with her.

17:23 Unfortunately this is a VERY common thing men do to women. At least in my generation. People raised in the 80's, 90's and before. I don't know how the men are fairing in the younger generations but I REALLY hope it's better than this crap because this is old and tired at this point. This attitude is just as prevalent in the medical community too, to the point where there is far less research done on problems that women have or how women's bodies react to things differently than a man's body. I had the double whammy with this growing up. I had a father who insisted every female was overreacting when having a medical problem followed by doctors who didn't even want to test for anything at all because I'm just a girl and girls overreact all the time. The term "female hysteria" (which was used most often in the Victorian Era) is still one that is taught in some medical schools. This kind of thinking is what caused me to be in pain enough pain to lose consciousness several times a week for 6 years before finding a doctor who took it seriously enough to actually run tests and diagnose me. And even after that diagnosis, my then aging father still didn't think there was anything wrong with me and that I was still overreacting to nothing.
@EmeraldEmsiron
@EmeraldEmsiron 15 дней назад
and on top of all of that, men seem to be raised in a way that they might not even take their own pain seriously a lot of the time. I've heard stories of older men ignoring like, serious medical issues because "they're a man" and "they'll tough it out", combined with men being taught very little emotional intelligence combine that with sexism both personally, societally, and medically, and you have a recipe for the perfect shitty boyfriend factory.

Oh my god that last one, my dad did that to me when I was 15. I was pouring blood out of my mouth because my tonsillectomy wound hadn't healed at all when the stitches dissolved, and every 5 minutes I came back begging him to call the doctor for advice and he kept telling me with increasing anger and yelling to leave him alone (every five minutes because he kept telling me I was fine and to leave him alone, and I was panicking and bleeding and didn't know what else to do other than to keep hoping it would stop) He literally told me that begging for help was "ruining his relaxation". And when he finally gave in after like a half hour (of me pouring blood into the sink and coughing up so many blood clots (which I didn't know were blood clots at the time, I thought I was vomiting up bits of my flesh), he picked up the phone only with the caveat that "If I do this for you, will you leave me alone". And of course the doctor's secretary told him to take me to the ER ASAP, and then he spent 10 minutes arguing on the phone with my mom who was at work, trying to convince her to come home from work to take me to the hospital even though he was already at home with me because he "already had [his] pajamas on". He has spent the last 16 years since lying about what he did to make himself look better, never apologizing to me once, even directly saying the words out loud "I didn't do anything wrong", like he'll tell people that I locked myself in the bathroom the whole time so he had no idea anything was happening, and that when he found out he immediately took me to the hospital, one of which there is (was :( ) another person besides me who can confirm that's not true (my mom), but she would tell me it is what it is and I know how he is and nobody can change him so we just have to accept what he does and why aren't I over it already. And not to mention that it's very likely the wound didn't heal properly because my dad had spent the evening 3 days earlier screaming at me to eat the spicy peppercorn steak he made for dinner despite being told I'd just had throat surgery 4 days earlier and eating spicy food would irritate my wound which the surgeon said would make it not heal properly, but apparently not only was I going to eat it because he made it, he didn't care what the surgeon said because "doctors orders are only guidelines, anyway". Lo and behold, he forced me to do what the doctor told me not to do, and exactly what the doctor said would happen if I did the thing, happened when I did the thing. Surprise, surprise.

I once left work in the middle of a shift, because I was told by my sister that our mom is in the ER! I was scared that we might lose her! I explained to my co-workers, boss was not there, and they said, it's ok man, go! Thankfully she was ok, just really sick!

About the period story: let's not forget that people on the internet lie to make themselves seem better. The most likely scenario is that the original poster has commitment issues and made up an excuse to leave, because this whole thing sounds like r/menwritingwomen but in this case it's r/peoplewritingchildren.

I honestly really love how Daniel does these videos. He approaches the topics from all angles, trying to see everyone's side. He researches things to get a better understanding. And when talking about topics he knows, men arguably shouldn't be judging like periods. He calls someone to verify his opinion. 10/10 guy

My partner and I had issues around sleep due to me being a light sleeper, him doing shift work, etc, but you know what we did? We both DEALT WITH IT because the bed was OUR bed that we both have equal rights to use regardless of whether it's ideal sleeping conditions. (A few years on we now have our own rooms and beds so that our mismatched sleeping schedules aren't a problem 🙆‍♀️)
