After doing Gayndah to Mundubbera a month ago I really wanted to check out more of this beautiful rail trail.
Checked the train requirements for taking a bicycle and I had to take my Surley Pugsley as the E-bike was too heavy, they only allow 20kg max.
Started at Gladstone and chose mainly back roads and rail trails to complete this trip. It was tougher than I thought it would be but also more beautiful than I could have hoped for.
Hope this inspires you and hope you enjoy the video

Oma this is fabulous, I feel this is a great advertisement for this adventure trail. The fact that you can jump on a train at Caboolture and go Gladstone. Using backroads and trails, you can loop back around to West Maryborough and take the train back home. We are so lucky to have a trail that loops back to a main line so that you go one way. Great work, thank you for sharing

Very interesting, we have travelled those roads in the comfort of our 4wd drive and van, you put a different slant on it all by bike, well done, you deserve all those coffees you drank

Thanks heaps for recognising that. I was told when you don’t feel like filming that’s the time to film 😂

Great video. I started thinking about 'training' it from Maryborough up to Glandstone then riding back home, but I was put off a bit by the seeming lack of a fully developed route, but it looks like you didn't have too much trouble 👍👍 Is your route on Strava? 🙂

We rode from Builyan to the opening at Hervey Bay, hence, passed through West Maryborough, I know the person who Strava mapped this, I will get her to provide the link

Interested in doing this trail. Which train were you talking about that had this bike weight restriction? Ta

It was the Rockhampton tilt train Q311. I just called them and asked heaps of questions and also booked early. Hope that helps 😊
