During January Stuart took a couple of the Armourgeddon crew to participate in a HUGE convoy which was done to commemorate the breakout of Bastogne during WW2. But they were also going on a fact finding mission as we have just bought a Sherman Jumbo (one of the rarest tanks in the world) and so we needed to check out the one they have in Bastogne. Overall it was a great little trip with the guys learning so much which is definitely going to help us out when ours gets here!

Cool! Speaking of wonderful sounds ( 3:00 ), I served during the cold war in West Germany (3d Military Police Co, 3d Infantry Division); and, we spent a great deal of time in the field. The sound of the M151 featured in this video immediately triggered memories of driving M151A2. Regarding M151 heaters, geez, don't get me started. We trained in sub-zero temperatures - ice, snow, the whole bit. 99% of the time, my heater never worked! Oh yea, loads of fun: driving an open jeep in minus 60F wind-chill and not freezing your face off. Welcome frost bite and hypothermia, my old friends. It seems you guys got a taste of what it's like. Much respect; and, thank you for sharing!

I absolutely love your video's. I enjoy the heck out of the fact that you and your crews are restoring some of the old historical Military wheeled vehicles as well as the Armored Vehicles. I was an Armor crewman back in the late 60's and early 70's. I Trained on the M48A3 Tanks at fort Knox, then served in Germany in Co. B, 3rd Bn, 37th Armor, 4th Armored Division (M60A1 Tanks), and also served in Co. B, 126th Maint. Bn, 4th Armored Division, which was in 1971 changed over to 1the 123rd Maint. Bn, 1st Armored Division. Thank You people for sharing all your Military vehicle restoration video's. Keep up the great work. - P.S. I envied you being able to participate in that Bastogne event. That would have been a great event to be able to participate in.

Is it fun to be in a tank
@hugueslevistre5519
@hugueslevistre5519 3 года назад
@@dannymiller3315 Hey , it depends on which tank from WW2, the M5 Stuart is narrow and very tight inside that makes you bump into everything. Also it is much lighter than sherman tanks and more sensitive to the road (pits and bumps give you a jumpy ride ) in the south route it was also colder and thereI traveld several days in the other shermans as an assistant because the M5 Stuart was stopped due to gearbox problems (this is an automatic transmission). Sherman tanks are heavier and there is more space and gives a more comfortable ride. a big disadvantage is that the engine sucks in all its cooling air through the crew compartment through the hatches ... which makes it very hot in summer and very cold in winter. when we left in saint vith it was -11C and due to the intake of the engine it could be in around -18 to -20C in the tank hull so this was quite tough. the north and south route were quite heavy for machines and personnel .. .and this in peace time! .so as far as I am concerned all my respect for all those who served in WW2 in whatever circumstance. grt hugues
