Great video Mark, plenty of loco movement and some excellent freight action. If only I could jump into my car and drive 200+ miles from Portsmouth to Peak forest to see and hear those 37s at work today. Thanks for sharing brings back good memories. looking forward to your next release.
Wickham Works Junction Many thanks for watching, PHEW!! this video took some uploading, almost 30 hours, my PC is having a rest for a few days, my next vid will probably be the 68's at Marylebone......cheers Mark
Brings back a lot of memories and old faces i'd forgotten since i was last there, I was a Buxton Driver during these times and i'm probably on there? Started in '84 as a second man at Buxton and transferred out to peak when they split the depot!
You probably are on my video somewhere no doubt, yes indeed fond memories.......Many thanks for watching Steve...are you still driving?....best regards Mark
Steve Wood That must have built up your strength, keeping on re filling the fuel header tank. I could only stomach a week on the Reading station pilot..... cheers Steve.....Mark
That's a brilliant collection of memories, Mark. Very useful information on Motive Power, quarry stock and also the landscape changes. Thanks for taking the time to upload and share. Cheers!
+Ed Shunt You're very welcome Ed, and much appreciated. The place actually has not changed too much apart from the Hotel/Pub becoming a private residence (for now ) and of course the vast change in Traction.......again many thanks......Mark
excellent video, brought back many happy memories of good old classic traction, plus 31's at Peak forest, and 47s on banking, never saw that, well worth knowing it happened, more ideas for a future model railway layout....( always had a thing for quarries...) ex-owner of R & M Quarries layout.....
You're very welcome there.....it was one of my favourite locations due to the diversity of traction then, now it is only a couple of types of traction.......Mark
Another superb video at a classic location. A host of excellent detailing/weathering close ups of loco's. What a great source of inspiration. Excellent
I discovered this haven in 1984, and the Tunsteads were in the hands of CLASS 40s with 37010 shunting between Dove Holes Q. And the reception sidings. Subsequently I travelled across from Lincolnshire frequently up till around 2001, having seen any changes, especially in motive power. My all time favourite thrash was 45004 Royal Irish Fusilier with 30 Loaded MSV tipplers...( I think it may have been directed along the Hope Valley route.) Not sure of the year, maybe 1984 or 5.
Unfortunately I missed that era, Only discovering the location around 1986/7 By then 37s and 31s were the main motive power. I found this location to be one of my favourites too as the changes were almost upon every visit I made. The introduction of the 60s then 59s after came the 66s. I must give the area another visit....Many thanks Timothy for your interest....mark
Many thanks Denis I do hope you enjoy the movies and more will follow once this lock down ends. I do have lots of archive material lined up which I do hope I will get round to uploading later in the year....my best regards to you and stay safe....Mark
Yes the video does seem to be popular, In the new year I will try to see if it is possible to do you a DVD of this video if you are still interested, just get the busy steam spell out of the way first, best regards to you.....Mark
at 34:30 watch 37 with 22 loaded ICI bogie stone wagons thrash them away; even the driver salutes his loco; what no banker; from what I have read, each wagon weighed 22 tons and could carry 43 plus tons, So this train weight is circa 1400; that's impressive
Absolutely fantastic video 1:26 of stone trains best i've seen yet and watched tons of times but keep forgetting to comment! Doh.... Keep em coming your channel is excellent good buddy ;-)
Cheers Mark and thanks again for uploading, i'm watching it right through again now hehe ;) Have you anymore Buxton stone traffic footage atall fela? Cheers, Jon 37686
I do have some un edited material still in original S VHS format 0f the Peak area which will need looking at, not a lot though, just working on a video of Croatia at present, then may do a long over due vid of Toton Yard from the 80s and 90s, got a lot of that with plenty of class 20 haulage.... it will come, again much appreciated your enthusiasm over the channel and my best regards to you......Mark
Hi Mark, Awesome ok sounds good when you get the time of course to convert it all and upload ;) i do love other freight hot spots like just P.F is my local has been as i've always lived here or around this area. 20's and BR late 80's / early 90's is mega so would watch that anyway and theres still plenty to catch up on via your channel so i'll comment as i get through them good buddy. Cheers, Jon.
Many thanks Jon, I do have other locations nearby on tape, such as Chesterfield, Derby, Toton, Manchester Vic and several others all filmed around late 80s and 90s. Keep watching my friend and for now best regards.....Mark
Thank you for watching I use a rather antiquated method at present Firstly I play my VHS video on a Panasonic GMR-EZ48V DVD/VHS recorder. I either can record directly onto a recordable DVD on that machine, monitoring it on my TV (Connected via HDMI Cable) at the same time. My Panasonic DVD recorder is near the end of it's life and a replacement is hard to find. I can either, and I have tried a few but seem to give a lesser quality result than the previous method, experimented with various VHS to DVD converter hardware available at high street stores or online. I have yet to try out my EasyCap USB Video and Audio Capture device I acquired recently. It seems that you connect it directly to a VHS Player by means of Phono leads (Supplied) to your PC (USB) and use the software supplied. That would be my first go. The device is very cheap and looks very simple to set up. I just do not know what resolutions it gives, I hope it would be MP4 format..which is what I convert the VHS into ultimately....I hope this helps you and do let me know if your results are satisfactory...Best wishes gor the new year too....Mark
contagious is the word... I am an Australian anglophile and never really took much notice of this part of England - bought the Sunrise Sunet Peak Forest and got hooked.....started the year with no class 37's and now I have 4 needs a split headcode and a class 66 though
I will have to see what I can do, I have a funny feeling there is a split headcode on my Tinsley video, that has 37s as well, best regards to you my friend.....Mark
Unfortunately I don't. I only got as far as Great Rocks then to Buxton Station... There was even then very little traffic over those sections.......best regards....Mark
