On the next stop we already are in the lowland forests of northern Costa Rica looking for the Curly Hair Tarantula, Brachypelma albopilosum. These shots can help you creating an enclosure for these tarantulas who are often kept as pet tarantulas - ideal to scape your enclosure the way you want!
Searching for tarantulas is not always successful - something we have to learn over and over again. On some days you find four different tarantula species, then on others - not a single spider.
This short video guides you through different vegetation zones, looking for Aphonopelma seemanni, Aphonopelma crinirufum and Davus ruficeps in a tropical dry zone kind of area.

My T doesn’t seem to like coco coir. I might try mixing Akadama(Japanese clay commonly used for bonsai). What do you use for clay in the substrate?

nice job finding a scorpion. very nice photos of wild b albopilosum. it sucks the rainforest is missing there. i have b albopilosum sling, and a seemanni sub adult. my a seemanni climbs a cork bark i gave it all the time. he must be preparing for the rainy season : ) very nice video

My Albopilosum was lighter in colour, more like a greyish brown. The least aggressive spider I ever had. My very first tarantula was a Seemannii. Very nervous and skittish. The Nhandu chromatus I have presently has more or less the same character. Worst of all was the Pterinochilus Murinus - one of the few spiders who walk on glass. This one was ridiculously aggressive.

Do you work? Who looks after your T's while you are travelling the world looking for more T's? I let my mum hear your voice and she agrees with that you have a nice voice lol, stay safe and look after yourself 🥴🕷🕸⚓🇬🇧

thanks Sharon :) yes I do work, these spider trips are my regular vacation, usually they are about 2 weeks long. If I'm away for longer than that, a friend will take care of them 👍
