SFuNk24 Me too! reminds me of the Brubeck quartet where Desmond would start shredding and Dave would just lay out for the entirety of the solo. Makes it really easy for the improviser to explore a super wide sonic palate without having to worry about clashing with the accompaniment!

Monk often does the same during someone else's solo. Leaves them to their own devices so he could get up and dance around the room
