Aint it strange, how someone you have never met can wright a song about exactly how you feel. it's like getting kicked in the heart..again

The first line of this song, "She put him out like the burning end of a midnight cigarette" is in my opinion one of the most emotionally wrenching song lyrics ever written. It hits me in the soul every time I hear it.

I had a conversation with an ex drill sergeant one time randomly at a DMV and he told me a story about being overseas and coming home to his wife pregnant with his best friend. He wasn't sour. He moved on to have 3 kids with a new wife and was very happy. He inspires me.

Brad is the best storyteller in country music, and Allison is an angel. She has probably the most utilized background singer voice ever, but has wonderful solo music.

The lyrics in this song are so beautiful... which is part of why it makes me teary every damn time. But seriously, 'Life is short, but this time it was bigger than the strenth [they] had to get up off their knees.' That line just cuts me.

This song hits hard every time I hear it. After about 3-4 months of me being deployed to the desert, I found out my wife was 2 months pregnant. I was sent home early to handle the situation and when I finally got home I found that the other man had been living in my house and wearing my clothes the entire time I was gone.

I spent 6 years in the Navy. I can't tell you how many of my shipmates had similar homecomings. Sad.

When I came home, as I walked through the airport, I was spit on and called a baby killer. I never killed a baby. I served my country, and thought I should be be allowed to be proud of it. Thank you for offering me (at least, I hope you are) some dignity. I think I am right, because I’ve watched many of your previous posts. I’m a 70 year old white guy, that loves what you do. Being a military wife isn't for everyone. I was also military, so i understood "how it works" when my husband had to go for 2 weeks, or 6 months just to the field. The biggest test ( in my opinion ) is actual deployment. If you can make it through that you can make it through anything. My husband went and yes I was one of those praying two officers didn't visit or that the phone didn't ring. I barely left my house or socialized because I was afraid I would miss a phone call on the rare occasion he was able to. Out of three years stationed in Germany, I saw him a total of 6 months. When he finally came home he was covered in 8 months worth of mud and sand, but I almost knocked him over when I rushed him. That was when we were only 2 years in and we have been married 25 years. I never once remotely thought of seeing anyone else, but I have seen plenty of wives doing that. The wife of one of his closest friends actually told him she'd rather have had the SGLI ( life insurance) , so yea there are some pretty soul -less women out there. As I said, I think the fact that I also served, so I knew how the job works helped.

I don't blame you for crying. I tear up every time I hear this song. I remember my dad going thru this during Vietnam. I had a stroke back in 2015 and the switch to shut off my emotions broke. So songs like this bring back a lot of memories and along with them, some tears. Thank you for what you do. I look forward to your next reaction.

As a man who's been cheated on, it's a devastating blow that leaves very heavy scars. When a man truly loves a woman, it is a very deep and profound love. It can takes years to heal from the breaking of that bond, if it ever happens. Another great song about a man's love for a woman is "He Stopped Loving Her Today", by George Jones. By the way, Krauss is pronounced like Krouse, rhymes with house.

Now you see why it won so many awards. It's a powerful song. Paisley had to be pushed by his manager to record this one. To all concerned we need to understand that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem and will leave people alive with horrible pain for their remaining time.
