@@brandonmonroe3002 Jon Randall penned this along with Bill Anderson and in my opinion Jon’s version is superb. If you haven’t heard it I urge you to give it a listen.
Alison Kraus gets overlooked by a lot of people because she's not a "flashy" or "showy" singer, but she's got one of the most pure, beautiful voices out there, and she's also a very talented musician.
Easily one of the top 5 voices all time. I love everything Alison has done. Like someone said, Raising Sand, her colab with Robert Plant, another of my favorite singers, is stunning.
When my son told me this song reminded him of his father and I we both knew our lives had to change. By the grace of God we learned from it all. This song saved us❤
I've been a paranormal investigator for several years and I'm always telling people. Listen to kids and pay attention to their pets. They can see way more than we give them credit for.
Alison Kraus is well known for having a very angelic voice. She's also a top notch fiddle player. Her and Brads voice blended so well together. The lead actors name in this video is Rick Schroder. He was also the director of this video. And yes he was on that TV series Silver Spoons but his most well-known part was from Lonesome Dove as Newt.
So... real talk.... You're a unique reactor. You're one of the few that gets into the substance of a song. Yes, you appreciate the talent of the singer/ performer, and the music. Yet, somehow, you still find the substance. So much respect
There's no satisfying everyone, so there will never be a definitive answer, but she is definitely in the mix. Her voice is one of my favorites ever! Solo, with male harmonies, or with female harmonies - Alison stands out and hits the emotional circuits of your brain with her singing.
When Brad Paisley won the CMA Entertainer of the Year (I think), he thanked his fans for following him anywhere he went-even to a “double-suicide drinking song.” This song took almost everything it was nominated for.
You want a depressing sad song? I am not telling you to go to this song but there's a song by John Michael Montgomery called the little girl it is probably the saddest most depressing song you will ever find.
Few masons enter heaven. Alberto Pike, Morals and Dogma of a Freemason, pg 342 ... those of the advanced degrees recognize we worship the seething power of Lucifer.
@@JatakR17 I don't think so...sometimes being wronged in life continues after death!!! I think that is why there are ghosts and hauntings because it carries into the afterlife and haunts our souls!!!
@@JatakR17 Forgiveness is a hard thing to grant. I see so many people who can offer it even to the most monstrous of people who have hurt them so badly...its the only way to heal. As for letting the snake wench back into your life...that's a no brainer...no!
This song came out at the exact same time I was going through a separation/divorce after catching my wife with another man almost exactly like this. I don't know if it healed me, or killed me.. but I did hit bottom. ROUGH TIME. It gets better if you're going through it!
@@howardgriffith71 i went through this 25 years ago and I still have mental scars from it. Go find a good mental health professional. Make sure you have someone to confide in. It'll get better, but go find help.
I’m a 66 year old man and when I feel like a good cry I watch this, Brooks and Dunn Believe and Sugar Lands Stay. They get me every time for different reasons. Country is the truth man.
The line that haunts me most is "He spent his whole life tryin' to forget". That's something this video does not, I think, represent. It makes appear that he spent perhaps the next year drinking himself (and her as well) to death. But I think the intent of the lyric was to suggest they spent the next 30-40 years in agony.
He spent some times. The lyrics meant the rest of his life before his death. Meanwhile for the wife, it has the lyrics that say "years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath"... She spent some years alone before her death. Imho
The Dobro playing in the background gives such a loneliness to this song that captures Allison’s and Brad’s voices perfectly. Alison Krauss & Union Station, incredible a Bluegrass Band.
I've seen Alison Krauss and Union Station a couple times live. She has the voice of a angel and her band is as tight as you'll find. A terrific evening each time. So, if you get the chance.....any chance.......be there. I see recommendations here for When You Say Nothing At All. That is a excellent launch point for Alison Krauss but don stop there. That would be like taking one bite only out of a delicious cake......
Allison Krauss is an amazingly talented lady. Amazing fiddle player and the voice of an angel. One of my favorite female singers of any genre'. I could listen to her sing anything.
Some country songs have a way of just ripping your heart out. Lyrics like "Life is short but this time it was bigger, than the strength he had to get up off his knees". WOW!!
It's sad because it's so real. Sometimes things happen that people just can't recover from, and sometimes people do things they just cannot forgive themselves for.
As one who writes hard boiled mystery fiction, "put the bottle to her/his head and pulled the trigger is a line I wish I'd come up with. Now that I've seen this, I can never steal it.
Thank you for reacting to this song in this video. This is the tragic story of so many combat veterans. My second husband served in Iraq during the Fallujah campaign. He saw a lot of horrible stuff. he was married to his first wife at that time and when he came home from war he found his wife living with his best friend. His PTSD from war was compounded by coming home to that. When he married me he was still not over that and always so suspicious and always so worried that I had a Jody somewhere. Our marriage under the same roof only lasted 6 months because he still had this pain in him and he was taking it out on me. Please pray for our veterans and those of you who are married to someone who is gone off to war, don't you make them come back home to something like this. 😭😭😭😭
Another heart breaking song. This is the first time I heard it. Its 7 am, and tears start rolling down my face. Unfortunately this happens quite often. Soldiers coming home, can't wait to see their loved ones and this happens. The pain it costs the home coming soldier broke him. He tried killing the pain with alcohol. The pain is still there the next day and so he kept drinking, trying to forget. He never could forget till it killed him.
"He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger and finally drank away her memory...." Wonder how many have done that....that's a powerful song line...
I always think I’m going to make it through this video without tears, but the reunion scene at the end proves me wrong every time 😭 Such a beautiful song and video. The little girl who sees their souls under the willow is Rick Schroeder’s daughter!
I would love to introduce you to a very important song. It is about two cultures coming together through communication. Please react to Chris LaDoux - This Cowboy Hat. Chris is a true blue, badass rodeo legend. This song is very powerful!
I always played this song on the jukebox when my husband and I would go out. I knew I had give my all but he wasn't going to change. I told him this song was from me to him. Til this day when I hear this i get a little sad. Its still true
Dan Tymiski from Alison Krauss’ band Union Station is the voice for George Clooney when he sings Man of Constant Sorrow. You should check out a version of him singing it. Very talented man and band.

"Dime will save your marriage" was the saying we had in the unit back before cell phones. So many times guys came home to surprise the missus only to get this kind of a surprise.
That song always makes me smile because I remember mama's reaction at the end. She ripped the ear buds out of her ears and threw them at me and angrily asked me why I had her listen to the song.
Very emotional song... This one always gets the tears flowing for me, because it happened to me. Thank God for the power of His Spirit with me in the good times and the bad; Blessed be the name of the Lord! You're right about Alison Krauss having a heavenly voice. Check out her with Union Station!
I've sat & watched Believe, Let's Go High On That Mountain and now this one and I cried with each one, even though I've seen them numerous times and now this one is the same way. These are true life experiences, maybe not for Brad Paisley, but for Gill & Dunn. Very, very touching. I like seeing your reaction to country music by these artists as well as Patsy Cline. Patsy Cline will live forever.
I love your comment "she should have kept running after him". I never though of that. Great reaction! No it's not a dream at the end. The little girl could see their spirits.
Nobody EVER mentions how many times in the video they show her TRYING to find him BEFORE the end comes. Why does everyone miss that very important part of the story? Also, nobody ever mentions how shook the "evil" woman is when the gun salute happens. It really is SO important to what is happening.
PLEASE PLEASE do a reaction to a song by "The Band Perry" called "If I Die Young"....make a grown man cry....Also, if you loved Allison Krous's voice, youll love Kimberly Perry's voice.
Alison Krauss and Union Station did most of the soundtrack for "Oh Brother Where art thou". I had the great privilege of seeing them live twice; once at Maryhill Winery in the Columbia River Gorge and again in Bend, Oregon with Willie Nelson. Their talent is amazing
So, a few things. 1) yours are the only reaction videos I have seen to make me routinely laugh out loud. 2) The ad in this video was, no joke, the Nationwide Payton and Paisley commercial, lol. 3) Whatever special mojo you have going on here, the world needs a lot more of it. Keep doing you, Jamel. You're great!
The video is heartbreaking but so is the song. Alison Krauss and Brad Paisley sing the heartbreaking song so beautifully. Thanks for your "Reaction" to the music.
Alison Krauss is as country as they come, she is talented beyond belief both instrumentally and vocally and Brad Paisley is too! This song... I remember when it first came out years ago and the video, it took my breath away and every time I watch it, still every time I cry. It's just one of those that takes hold of you and doesn't want to let go. It makes you think...
