The rumors surrounding Brady Tkachuk potentially being traded by the Ottawa Senators are really starting to heat up.
Brady Tkachuk is EXACTLY what the New Jersey Devils need in their lineup. They have the assets to make a play for him. Tom Fitzgerald MUST attempt to bring this man to New Jersey!

This was my first season as a hockey fan. I'm from Alabama and chose the Devils for two reasons. Seinfeld and the Jersey Devil legend. I know it doesn't make sense. It was a tough season. You sir, have provided so much information about hockey. There's always next season. Thanks for all the videos.

Hey brother. Just wanted to say thank you for what you've done this season. It was, for me, the worst since the 1988-89 season, where the expectations were so high, but the results were so bad. Yet you brought such light and fun to what otherwise was an epic failure. Thank you so much for your great approach and for making all these rough nights bearable. We can only hope 24 like 89 was just an anomaly and the start to a long run of post seasons like the ones that started in 89-90 (95-96 notwithstanding.) Cheers. Kevin/Kearny.

@KevinCanessaJr Thanks for watching Kevin! I plan on being here awhile. This is my worst season since 95-96. That was an epic failure. But the squad figured it out and had years of competitive hockey ahead. Including 2 more Cups. Hopefully the future is truly bright.

I wanted Matt when he was available. I’d be pretty stoked if Brady was traded to the Devils, as long as Bratt doesn’t go. Honestly, I think Bratt is our best, most consistent player. Last 3 seasons 73,73,82+ points and he has only missed 6 games in those past 3 seasons. Last year and this year he will play 100% of the season. We need Brady and him on the team together. Give up whatever in draft picks and tradable players. My untouchable list is 13, 86, 43, 63, and 28. Anyone else can go since they can easily be replaced, minus Nemec. Nemec is the only not untouchable that I would hate see go, because he is going to be a great d-man in the not so distant future. What is Ottawa going to do with Bratt that they couldn’t do with Brady? They need to start over and hopefully they want picks the most. I’m not going to get my hopes up till something happens. If the Devils land Brady, I believe our only option is Markstrom. Is it worth it? Or is getting a top tier goalie and grittier support players better?

@TravelinDevil76 I hope Ottawa wants future pieces. That would be great. Landing Tkachuk and keeping Bratt would be a miracle. Maybe a package with Casey, a 1st and Holtz or Mercer will ALMOST get us there?!? Nemec is going to be the best overall defenseman on this team in 3-4 years, assuming he is still here. I would take Markstrom and Brady over every other scenario we can conjure up.

@@runninwiththedevils this core group will last longer than Markstrom remaining career. I think we need a goalie that will last the length of the up and coming dynasty. Remember when the team was built around the goalie? :)

@TravelinDevil76 I am a big proponent of that; however we did fare well last season with guys who fell apart this year. If we get Markstrom, my hope would be that Daws or Schmid would be ready to take the reigns in a few years...

@@runninwiththedevils I’m just worried about selling the farm and adding another 8-9 million dollar a year forward to the team that really needs grittier defensemen, bottom 6 toughness and a top tier goalie. I do see the need for a player like Brady on the top 6, but not at a cost that puts the Devils in a place where they can’t fix the real issues.

I mean who knows what Brady is saying behind the scenes. Maybe he wants to come to the States like his brother? Maybe he is frustrated with the situation in Ottawa? There is the family connection with Fitz. I agree, he is exactly what we need up front.

Like the idea a lot - just wonder where the money would come from & worry about what they'd need going the other way. Maybe trade out Palat + Holtz the other way? Wonder if they'd take that. That way it doesn't screw us out of up and coming good talent in Mercer/Casey/Nemec and doesn't touch Bratt, Hughes, Timo, Nico or Haula. It's imperative Fitz goes big game hunting for a top A grade goalie as well!! Can't forget that. You'd be assuming 8.8m also for Brady, and then a goalie at 6-7m? The money gets a little sketchy thereafter but we'd be scary! The beautiful thing nobody has talked about...we also are gaining back 2.325m just for dead cap in Cory Schneider + Kuokkanen so that's money we didn't even have last year plus the cap is rising.

@cash082 The price will be way steeper than what most people realize. Guys like Tkachuk are EXTREMELY rare. Palat and Holtz is NOWHERE near the package it would take to land Brady. It would be substantially more than that. We are going to have to give to get. The package would include some of the following: Bratt, Mercer, Holtz, Casey, Nemec, 1st Round Picks Not ALL of those pieces, but a combination of some of them. Ottawa knows what they have. They are not going to give him away. With the right moves, and the dead money falling off WITH a cap increase, we should have some flexibility.

I would absolutely love him on the Devils! Will I think it can happen not so sure as Fitzy may not dive in. The devils in my opinion still get taken advantage of because Big Mac only goes on the ice every so often as a 4th line. Brady on the other hand can play and contribute more minutes effectively for the team.

I agree 100%, but will never happen. Unless they accept like an offer of multiple 1st rounds, plus a few top prospects/established players. I have in mind Mercer, Holtz and any prospect from down the line. Who are our untouchables? Nico? Bratt? Meier? Hughes brothers? Hamilton, Nemec?

I can see Seamus Casey being a big piece of the deal as well. All hypothetical, but let's see if Fitz can land a reallllllll beast.

If you want a 6-7 mil extended goalie as well, youd have to send something like Bratt, Casey, 1st and 2nd. Tkachuks cap hit is 8.205. Bratt would almost cancel that out and then there is room for a goalie and 2 bottom 6 guys.

Would love Brady here but I’m not sure what goaltender we would get if we were to go out and het Brady. If we got Brady and Markstrom I would definitely take that, if Brady doesn’t work out then we obviously go for Saros/Ullmark. Would really really hate to see Bratter go but if Ottawa wants him for Brady it may be a no brainer. We will see what happens. I’m very excited yet also very nervous for this off-season. We can only hope!

Chandler would be an ideal as Centre. I think he'll request around 4.5-5M which is exactly what hes worth and the Devils can afford that if they dont try to bring Saros. Then get Teddy Blugger as 4rth line Centre and Lafferty as part of bottom 6. Ship out Siegs and get Pesce and the team has a chance of making the playoffs

The Core would be dismantled in order to acquire Brady Tkachuk. I think there are players we could part with but it would hurt. Like Nico or Nemec could potentially be going the other way, in addition to picks and prospects.

Tkachuk is younger, much bigger, much tougher, can fight, plays with much more heart, top 3 in the league in hits, shots on net and has outscored Bratt the last 3 years! If, and that's a big if, he did want out of Ottawa, who says he wants to go to NJ. His brother didn't. If there was ever a trade, you better be prepared to give up one of the Hughes brothers. I don't see us giving away 2 firsts and probably some combination of 1 or 2 of bratt/nemec/holtz for big baby tkachuk. We do need aggression and passion, but Smart, Calculated aggression. We also have built this team in the draft, I'd be more willing to save the money for a goalie and roll the dice with our picks. Maybe that pushes our cup chances back a year, but we have a great core and bright few years coming, we don't have to rush into anything, we cant just buy our way to the cup, that only works for tampa.

@Ghost-wc2ls Fans overvalue draft picks for some reason. There is no guarantee that they would want 2 firsts. Maybe 1 in a package does it. Either way, if I am Fitz, I am pulling out ALL the stops to try to get Brady here. Tkachuk is the exact type of player we need. They are very, very scarce. I am tired of "the future is bright". That is how you are stuck in a perpetual rebuild. The time is NOW to trade future assets for WIN NOW pieces. Before we know it, Nico is going to be 30 years old on the downside of his career. It happens quickly.

Only the playoffs or at very minimum a very competitive wildcard finish would be acceptable. If they do trade Brady it's not for multiple picks its for players that help now

They also need to resign Sam Reinhart and Montour so I doubt it's feasible for Fla unless Brady is willing to take less money because Florida has no income tax. Devils need Brady more than Fla does though so let's keep our fingers crossed. Brady, a goalie, and a defenceman or 2 would make this team next year exciting again.

That what some of Panthers fan are saying, but did he say that? I have been following Panthers fans and they always say thing that they think he want, but he has not say it out loud. The only way he goes to Florida is by him signing as a UFA. But that is not until after the 28/29 season. trade will be hard as they don't have good assets to go back to Ottawa, like 1 round pick. The Devils can do this trade as they have the assets to bring him there. Now he could be in New Jersey for those seasons and he could go to South Florida to his brother after 28/29.
