In this tutorial we make a braided paracord belt. Much of the braiding process originates from Ron Edward's book called Bush leatherwork.
I will show you how to start the belt, braid it, make a keeper and finish the belt. The belt has two rings as the closing mechanism.

I really like how you show and tell how you do your projects. You seem to put thought into the overall project, particularly the final look, compared to others I've seen. Awesome job as always!

Thank you very much! I am going to be able to braid my own belt now. Your instructions are so clear, and you show the small details that make the difference between a nice finished product, and a not-so-nice one!

I just found a braided leather belt with a solid leather core. I removed the outer edge leather trim. I replaced it with bootlaces. The belt remains structurally sound and OK looking even when the lace is removed. (You'll want to find the longest lace possible, keep it tight, and use heat shrink tubing to connect the ends at the buckle end only. This will keep the form factor compact enough to feed properly. )

Dear friend. I like a lot your amazing jobs. I wonder myself if it is posible you can make a video with a brazalet using this kind of knot. I think it will be something vey nice. I suppose that it will be no so wide as a belt, of course. Thank you in advance and congratulations for your chanel. Thank you for teach and share. Greetings

Hey Mark. Question. Is it possible to make a weave, 3 inches wide? Can such a weave use any knot type? Is there any tutorials on how this could be done ? I was trying to connect two or more bracelets together but then i saw this belt video. The weave is ok, for its purpose but I’d like to make a guitar strap for myself. 1 1/4 inch wide just is so small. But I’m just beginning in paradors. I’m not really interested in bracelets cause EVERYBODY makes them. I just want to do a very fancy guitar strap for myself but. Cannot figure it out. Any help would be appreciated. Mark R

Yes, just add more strands at the beginning and continue in the same manner, no matter how many strands you use. Best of luck! 👍

This type of belt would work well with buckles with a fixed tong in it. Also have you tried to finish the ends on the keeper by running the working end inside the standing end. I haven't progressed this far yet but it was an idea I had from joining cords. Love you instructions and quality of video.

Beautiful work Mark and Good instructions ........Instead of using 6 Cords of Equal length , can I use 4 Cords ? for a slightly slimmer belt , but will the weave turn out similar with 4 cords ? Thank You

If you have this belt and say hypothetically are camping and need a strand. How would the belt hold up if you pulled a single strand out and used it for whatever you needed? Would the weave hold or would you need to re-tightened all the other strands to get a functioning belt?

Question: what will the belt look like (sidth and thickness) if you do not gut the paracord? Would that make a decent belt?
@mystic_tacos
@mystic_tacos Год назад
Simply put, it will just be wider and thicker, bulky, and possibly (with the twelve strands) possibly not able to fit standard belt loops.

Although the keeper looks nice, it’s useless on this type of belt due to the fact that the “tail” goes the other direction.
@TheP0STMAN

One question for you on this belt. How do you loop the belt through the two loops and the belt keeper? Wouldn’t the belt keeper need to be back on the other end of the belt after looping the belt through the loops?
@thomastkach7467

I was wondering the same thing. I am going to make one with a prong buckle, I think.
@u50pat
@u50pat 2 года назад
My question was is this good possible with a regular belt buckle..
@3Artive
@3Artive 7 месяцев назад
For the two loops: 1) Pass the tip of the belt straight through both loops. 2) Bend the tip of the belt back over the end loop. 3) Pass the tip of the belt through the second loop from the end. 4) Pull to tighten. I hope this helps! 👍 If my written instructions were not clear, consider searching RU-vid for: “How to Fasten Double D-Ring Belt Buckles” for a video by ehowbeauty. This was my question, the keeper is useless here. With a cinch belt you tuck the loos end back thru belt loops or let it hang like it's the 90s again

could this belt be done with 2 colors ? 6 strands on one side and 6 on the other ?
@Paracordguild
@Paracordguild 4 года назад
Hey! You can set up a huge variety of color combinations. The braiding process is exactly the same with all of them, just the color pattern will change according to the setup. Some color combinations are beautiful, some don't work as well. It is best to cut a bunch of shorter lengths and test out the pattern before committing to it. Mark

@@Paracordguild That's a relief 😅 instructions were clear, yet visually had a hard time understanding which strands had gotten where due to solid color of belt keeping using various colorful strands for next attempt.

Would the design require much modification to use a conventional buckle? Or is the braid too tight to allow the tongue of the buckle through the centre?

can a regular buckle be used instead o the rings?
@_DiJiT
@_DiJiT 4 года назад
You could use the ring and peg type easily for this. but if you wanted to use a plastic clip buckle, you would have to do the back braiding on both ends.
@dark96744

@@_DiJiT yeah i was planning on using the classic tounge/peg style belt buckle i dont like using clips unless it for a bracelet especially since my nephew was asking for a belt i figure might as well make an adjustable one for him

the back looks fuzzy after back braid. I think the back braiding part is unnecessary . if with those clumps, you first cut them, melt them, fold and tuck them in place using sewing and needles. it can even become more beautiful if you attach a piece of letter or denim over it so it can cover the sew line and the melted part.
