My neighbor is 90 and much sharper than most 20 yrs old. After changing jobs at age 56 my memory and attention is much better than it was in my 40s The brain can change and rejuvenate in any age due to stimulus like brain exercise, environment, sleep habits, nutrition and nutrients.
@nararabbit1

stimulating the brain daily with puzzles, exercise, reading, learning languages, etc are all so helpful for preventing cognitive decline. I had a dead end boring job for a few years and felt like I was getting slower over time. Now I have a more challenging and creative job and spend my time enjoying learning new things and the difference is night and day. I also get depressed much less often now, though it still happens sometimes as it’s an illness.

Excellent presentation!! Loved your light hearted delivery. I am a 67 year old black female retired science teacher with one parent age 87 who developed dementia at about 70 years old and 4 of her 9 siblings have/ had it as well ( along with Diabetes)at some point starting in their 70s. My diet for 4 years has been 90 percent free of added sugar and processed food. Within my acceptable body mass index. Just tweeked my already heart healthy diet this year to the MIND DIET to be proactive about my brain health. I walk/ run for at least 40 to 50 minutes several times a week and do weights as well. It IS a journey. There is no guarantee, but no excuse not to help yourself be healthier before the last minute. Thanks for your information.

@@vminhope3040 its normal to experience that occasionally. what is abnormal is if its a regular thing. i do not remember the last time i experienced that. lol, maybe years ago when i had too much alcohol? i do not know of anyone who experience that too. do not hesitate in "diagnosing yourself" just because you are not a doctor. you know more about your life, your diet and lifestyle, far more than any doctor. also most doctors are trained only in allopathic medicine. not diet and lifestyle matters. trust me on this. i come from a family with obese doctors. you cant rely on most doctors when it comes to these things. if its nutrient deficiencies you have, there are lab tests you can take to check your status. its not necessary though. just eat a nutrient rich diet that is NOT plant based, and you will eventually fix nutrient deficiencies. if youre dangerously low in certain nutrients, you also need to supplement. b vitamin deficiencies are the most common ones i see. also, vitamin d, and iron. it might take months to completely fix deficiencies. if its toxicity, there are tests you can take too. toxic metal and oxalate issues are common. also, sugar and vegetable oils are bad. these things are toxic as well. keep in mind that when detoxing, you might experience even more brainfog. this is normal and temporary. if you want, you can coordinate with a professional practitioner knowledgeable about your condition, and do things slowly. it might take months to detox. if you rush things, you will feel awful.

I learned how to rise a garden as a garden as a child from my parents. Both were from large families and were raised during t he depression when jobs and money were hard to come by and they raised huge gardens,! My mother had to stay at home and help raise her siblings so she never finished high school. My dad finished the 11th grade and went into WW2! There wasn't enough food so the government issued food rationing and encouraged people to start victory gardens since a lot of food was sent to feed the troops. After the war my folks continued to waive gardens and my father always said that the food you bought was contaminated with chemicals and that was the reason for another of the diseases people were getting! He never bought pesticides, herbicides or fertilizer and always composted and used that for the garden! I use the same method of gardening and we can in the fall to preserve food. My Father died at 93 and Mom died at 96 and was near 97! They were pretty savy on health issues!

Growing up in the 60s I had a neighbor that regularly made his own red wine. He kept it in a large wooden barrel in the basement. He would drink like 4 to 5 large wine glasses of it every day. He used to tell us kids that this was the key to his good health. I still remember him saying that we kids will be doing the same thing when we get to be his age. He would also eat cheeses, I'm not sure if it was on a daily basis. His wife used to buy the cheeses and bread at the local italian delicatessen. He and his wife also grew tomatoes, basil, a variety of peppers, and spices in their back yard. He lived healthy into his 90s. My grandpa was around his age and would drink chilled vodka shots regularly, sometimes with beer. For breakfast it was not uncommon for him to have like 6 or 7 eggs with thick-cut smoked bacon, 2 slices of toast (w/butter), sometimes with navy beans or sometimes with grandma's potato hash, and sometimes include a tin of sardines into the mix! In my life, I have yet to see another man eat so much and stay so thin. But despite his advancing age, he always stayed active. He was always finding something to do. As a kid I would watch my grandfather do yard work for HOURS at a time, repair the fence, pull weeds, paint the foundation, mow the lawn, sweep the patio, stuff like that ---- often in the intense summer heat. He would sometimes consume like 2 or 3 bottles of beer during all this work. His age would have been 65 thru 76 during these years. Well into his 70's he was thin, still played golf occasionally and bowled once or twice every week. At night he would retire with a detective novel and then the bible, then a prayer before going to sleep. He also smoked until he was about 70 then gave it up for good (but he was not a heavy smoker, maybe a pack a week max). Never had cancer, heart disease, diabetes, Parkinsons or anything like that. Spent very little time in the hospital (once in his 40's for appendicitis) And grandpa still lived to be 93. We always say grandpa likely would have lived past 100 if he hadn't smoked. So I'm sticking with my 2 to 4 glasses of red wine daily, sorry.

@leighburville2717 3 года назад
@@felipeb1032 Budget for nutritious food? Explore the produce department. Most raw fruit and vegetables cost under $1.50 a pound. That makes for 75% of your daily meals right there. Most stores sell basic chicken for $1.00 a pound, ground pork $2.00 and mackerel, sardines, safe tuna for quite cheap. Compare that to the cost of the crap you may be eating. Donuts, cake, chips, pizza, sandwich meats and cheese, crackers, dips, sodas, beer, wine, hamburger helper, jalapeño poppers, bacon wrapped sausage. fried rice, enchiladas, banquet frozen dinner, ice cream, yogurt, dairy milk. These things generally cost more per pound than healthy stuff. Seriously. The American public is being sold a bill of baloney when it thinks the common SAD food habit is cheaper than the sane and healthy diet. For a tiny example: Potato chips are $1.00 for 7 ounces. An apple is .50$ for 8 ounces Start seriously doing your own food math.

I think the PKD or KetoAF (Paleolithic Keotgenic Diet) is superior to other so called antiinflamatory diets. You probably don't have to do the strict version at all to get good results. I have seen youtube channels with bad cases that has been symptom free when doing the PKD diet. Just doing a liberal Carnivor diet will probably reduce symptoms within weeks.

Who would want to take more drugs? I prayed and enhanced my research and now emphazied getting my nutrients from other whole food sources. Some populations emphasize beans, legumes, potatoes (Dr. McDougal and others) high fiber foods etc and not so high priority on greens. I'll never stop saying this: the less processed the better. As soon as we start manipulating food, it starts to loose nutrients and becomes more calorically dense and less nutrient. But our body needs nutrients more than it needs calories! In my channel #00kidney I usually talk about those foods that can help you with the health of your kidneys, but really healthy foods are healthy for everyone. Carbs are not bad, only processed carbs are. Sugar from fruit is healthy, if you eat it with the whole fruit. Peel included, when possible.

well carbs in general arent bad but even the so called healthy ones contain way more than average person needs..carbs main function is to provide energy for high intensity workouts...like if you need to run away from a predator and get a away quick af..but if youve already consumed the bad carbs for a while and dont exercise like crazy you have to restrict even the so called healthy carbs until your body resets itself and heals....every nutrient in healthy carbs can be found in abundance in many other foods so like 95% of people in modern society do not need to consume a high carb diet processed or not.

Anyone can learn to hoop! The best but if advice for anyone starting out is to buy a very big, heavy hoop. 38-40” is a good size to start. It matters more than you’d think, having the correct hoop size to start out that is. If you endure a little frustration, hooo through some bruises (unavoidable at first) eventually you’ll get your timing perfected and that will no longer happen. Before you know you’re buying a smaller hoop and progressing on. :)

Isn't the brain made of saturated fat? Fish oil comes i a dark green bottle. Why? Because it's unstable and react with oxygen. Don't drink oxidized oils. Eat stable fats. Eat fish. Eat grasfeed meat. It has omega 3 in it. Lower your consumtion of omega 6 and you need less omega 3. If there was a great need for omega 3 from fish all cultures living inland would die of and there would only be people around lakes, rivers and seas. We can get the omega 3 we need from grasfeed meat. Algae makes omega 3 with help from the sun. But so does also grass.

I am 80 chronologically, but my brain is still humming along. I eat as close to 100% organic food as possible, Also exercise, get sunshine, play chess & Scrabble, watch little TV, read, and meditate (most important). Also I take supplements, lots of them. IMO, most important for brain health are PQQ, vinpocetine, Lions Mane mushroom, green oats extract, taurine, magnesium L threonate, Astragalus, jiaogulan, curcumin, EGCG, vitamin C, vitamin D3, melatonin, lithium, r Lipoic acid, ginkgo biloba, huperzine A, macuna dopa, iodine, ginseng, bacopa extract, etc. The body is wildly complex and so it needs lots of different materials. I try to give it what it needs. I also employ Rife frequencies, PEMF, and microelectricity. I do have a dogmatic attitude about it and do not allow myself to "take it easy" because I am in the "golden years". It is a game on some level I suppose but it is, for me, a serious one.

I grew up i Italy. There is a difference in what people know of Mediterranean diet in America versus the way we eat in Europe. The number one difference is that we wait for seasonal fruits and vegetables therefore we follow nature’s seasons. In April, in italy we eat asparagus, in Germany restaurants advertise the arrival of the white asparagus in Italy we look forward to the “wild” green asparagus (frittata di asparagi). If you go to France or Italy or Germany or other cities you’ll find locally grown produce. Additionally people seem to live longer because the walk almost daily to the neighborhood store to buy fresh meat or fish and to find fresh produce. There is no need for the huge 2 door refrigerators to store vegetable for 15 days because they will not be fresh after 5 days. To live well it is better to follow old customs. My last comment: potatoes and polenta are popular in the northern regions where the winter season is longer and people need those carbs. Meat is also necessary in their diet. You eat ice cream in Italy in the afternoon when your are out for a walk but not every day. Pastries are eaten to celebrate a birthdays or other festivities. Pizza is a midday snack, again, just one slice, when you are out running errands. This is just a window in the life of Italians and other Europeans in general. You can call it the Mediterranean diet but is not what is being prescribed here in the States where people eat in large portions and cannot nor want to eat a variety. Americans think first about fast food because they can’t wait, because they don’t know a product, because they are young, they are busy inventing apps, working like robots, they have produced several children without a plan for themselves let alone their children. These are people who will be obese and of their children will obese.

@All or Nothing Both of those work! There are still products that are processed even in these diets, but for the most parts it's the carbs that are the bad guys. When you're doing these diets you're eating more fat than a regular diet so it's important to make sure your fat is from a healthy source, such as olives, coconuts etc. There are so many types so I'd just Google them to find which ones fit your needs the most as olive oil isn't that great for frying.

Understand this - every plant is a carbohydrate. A plant-based diet is generally very good for you. Its when the carbohydrates are processed and refined that is the problem. These are typically referred to as empty carbohydrates, and which quickly turn into sugar in the blood stream, significant sustained consumption of which can lead to metabolic syndrome, insulin resistance and ultimately, diabetes. So its the refined carbohydrates that should be eaten sparingly or as little as possible. But carbohydrates in their original, natural form (i.e., plants) are typically very good for you.
@Zgmflegend
@Zgmflegend 3 года назад
Who made you believe that nonsense? Humans cannot break down plant material. We lack the enzymes for it. Only eat the fruits a plant gives. Sour fruit with Carnivore diet.
@Zgmflegend
@Zgmflegend 3 года назад
Plants/veggies cant run away so what do they do? Produce chemicals so they don't get eaten. Fruit wants to be eaten. So it's somewhat sweet and the human body can break it down.

When showing "Foods to Limit" they should be foods to AVOID altogether, because they are scientifically engineered to defeat even the strongest of will power and very seldom can you stop at one cookie or one donut, all refined carbohydrates like these, lead to severe cravings that would not be there if those foods were not eaten in the first place. Fasting and eating nothing at all would be preferrable to eating anything pictured in your "Foods to Limit" picture. I am not even going to include them other that to say "Avoid these foods at all costs" "They are slow Kill foods" Wheat is weaponized, all corn and soy in the United States, unless specifically labeled as organic, is GMO and very hazardous to your health. That includes the fructose sweeteners and corn oil, canola oils, all of which are in those types of killer foods.

We should stop 🛑 eating processed food instead of limiting proceeded food, It is badly damage your health. Gary Taubes, Robert Lustig, Mark Hyman , John Yudkin , Raymond Francis, Jason Fung wrote wonderful books 📚 to understand how our body works. I lost 68 pounds in 13 months. Self motivation and education is very important!!

Canola OIL (RAPE SEED) is VERY BAD. A VERY TOXIC CHEAP OIL. Do NOT BE FOOLED even if people say it is ORGANIC. If you VALUE YOUR HEALTH & your pets HEALTH STOP buying & CONSUMING FOODS containing Canola oils. & STOP Eating foods deep fat fried in CANOLA , SOY or Corn OILS & or VEGETABLE OILS. They are ALL TOXIC. RANCED. TOXIC to OUR LIVER, LUNGS, KIDNEYS, Heart, intestines( GUT functions) . SAY NO THANKS. I WANT TO LIVE WELL many years into the future feeling full body WELLNESS!👂👀🏆👍👌

DHA is the fuel for the brain just as EPA is fuel for the heart. PLEASE NOTE: Phytic Acid that prevents mineral absorption is highest in nuts, beans and grains, Dr Weston Price recommends soaking and replacing the water 3 times. Phytic Acid is water soluble SO my thinking tells me cooking in a pressure cooker, which presses the water through the food being cooked will remove or reduce Phytic Acid and those terrible Lectins. Dr Gundry will teach you about the Lectins

Am I the only one who doesn’t want to live until I’m 90 or 100? Lol! Why don’t we all just try to eat as healthy as we can, enjoy what we eat, and most importantly, cherish who we eat with. Stress less, laugh more, and live in the moment. You never know when your time is up.♥️

I dont think it's about how long you wanna live, it's mainly about how you wanna live. Your quality of life when you become old should be your motivation for eating healthy now. It makes a difference whether you want to be disabled ending up in a nursing home or do you wanna be a senior citizen that's able to get around independently enjoying retirement and playing with your grandkids

You don't need to eat any "seafood". I have not eaten any meat fish eggs or chicken in 46 years, Your Omega 3s can be gotten from the same source as the fish get it, from Marine Phytoplankton or algae. I was so sorry to see those dead chickens when it is totally unnecessary. B12 is in tempeh and yogurt

Two ways to look at it. The chickens are going to die no matter what you say or do because there is to many people that enjoy eating them. Either you don’t eat the chicken in protest of their deaths or eat the chicken so they don’t die in vain.

I think your idea is good but for me I'm eating for my gut health after learning about what could be causing my Irritable Bowel Syndrome'. For me it is the healthy Ketogenic eating plan and intermmitent fasting , and use saturated fats to be able to utilise my fat-soluable vitamins etc. Your diet is rich in oily fish but we don't get much of that where I live so I take cod liver oil tablets, nutitional yeast, wheatgrass juice powder and spirilina, plus sea kelp granules, wheat germ, epsom salts, and a few other food based supplements. The grains are a problem because the bran blocks zinc uptake, and refined carbohydrates are no longer part of my diet. I eat mostly sour fruit and I don't usually have snacks and if I do they are fat because this hardly raises insulin. I recommend Dr Eric Berg, he is holistic and knowledgable. Deb

I am much older than 27 years old, and I can definitely say my brain is far better now than what it was then. Couldn't remember or learn anything, probably because my unconscious mind was holding in a trouble past and had no room for learning. How can we not learn or develop now? The Internet is filled with too much information. Someone is teaching you about food, exercise, history, music, praying, meditation, manifestation, Forex, maths, English etc things you never got a decade or so ago!
