This movie deserves a permanent home on shudder to be better appreciated. Thank you Edward Furlong for contributing to the genre. Pet Semetary 2 will always be a favorite of mine along with Brainscan.

I remember when this came out. Trickster looks More awesome than I remember!

For Michael Brower, it was just supposed to be another game. But then the murders turned real and when corpses started popping up, he realized that it's *not* just a game anymore. Now when the destructive, chaotic avatar known as Trickster shows up telling him that the game is just starting, how far will Michael go to protect those that he cares about when they start becoming 'potential targets'? Remembered renting this when I was a kid after seeing the trailer for it. For me, it was like an R-rated version of the Twilight Zone or the Outer Limits. Intriguing story but the ending was a little bit of a letdown. Hands down though, Brainscan really does make you question how much is too much when the controller is in your hands. Great to see that this has a blu-ray release!

A lot of fun, even if it's pretty tame considering it's about serial killings And I would've watched a whole series of movies with the Trickster as the villain, he was amazing

This was one of my favorite horror movies as a little girl. I would have my mom rent it for me, I was only 9 years old lol.

Great movie! Great soundtrack! And amazing times in the 90s. This embodied it perfectly. Endless possibilities and everything was an adventure. I miss it. Listen to Alcohol Funnycar if you're new to this film.

Dose anybody remember that one movie with a boy named Michael who gotten a game console and went into a virtual reality and he fell asleep and didn’t know and as he was playing the game in his sleep he died. The movie has flaws but still a good horror movie and T. Ryder Smith (The Trickster) is the highlight of the film.

This was a good movie.

Came here looking for a movie I've been trying to find for years... This isn't it lol maybe somebody knows. All I remember is a group of possibly physiatrist go to see a teenage boy... I think. They all end up in these torture devises the kid has made bc he thinks he's paying a game and doesn't realise he's hurting people. Maybe in a cage stayed under the house? The only scene I really remember is a girl being tied to a chair with a slot in the back connected to a saw blade. Had to be an 80s movie, anyway... Just thought this was worth a shot lol

Edward Furlong is a terrible terrible actor.

I remember seeing the ad for this one when it was released, but last night was the first time I saw it. Dear God, it was AWFUL. A few thoughts: 1. As usual, Edward Furlong's method of "acting" is YELLING EVERYTHING!!!!!! People say child actor Jake Lloyd's Anakin was bad.... but have they seen this untalented twerp in this and T2? It's absolutely criminal that this block of wood had an acting career. 1a. His pointless, overlong bitchfit tantrum at the end was just salt in the wound of having to endure 90 minutes of shouted dialog. 2. The script feels like it was written by a 13 year old. 2a. A 13 year old who has no idea how romantic relationships actually work. I mean really, is Michael Kimberly's boyfriend? Confidant? Nerdy pity case? Brotherly bestie? Creepy stalker/harasser? It changes every scene. It felt like a big roulette wheel that finally landed on "possible future couple" after about 8 tries. 3. This movie hasn't aged well at all. Dig that early 90s tech, LabTec speakers and CRT TVs... gnarly, dude. 4. The "Igor" modem app would have been fine as a fast side gag, but it got SO much screen time that I wonder if they were trying to sell that application outside this movie. T. Ryder Smith sure nailed that Karloff impression, though. 5. SO. MANY. AEROSMITH. POSTERS. Is this why they let Edward in on their "Livin On The Edge" video? 6. Michael's friend Kyle has to be one of the most ANNOYING characters I've ever seen in 40 years of watching movies. Was I supposed to feel anything but blissful relief when he was killed? Every time he opened his mouth to vomit more cliched and cringey dialog, I wanted to drive a pickaxe through his head. 7. The only watchable bit was T Ryder Smith hamming it up as Trickster -- he's a Freddy Krueger knockoff, of course, but at least you can tell he had fun with the role. 8. Frank Langella's pain of having to be in this garbage was palpable. Between this and having to play Skeletor a few years earlier (which he did his game best, to be fair), I wonder if he had trouble paying his rent at this stage of his life.
