Is yours a metallic silver? If so then make sure they colour match it spot on. I wouldn’t bother with the exhaust, sounds great as is….you’ll get more out of the PCCM+ upgrade.
It’s seal grey and my word the paint shop guy did the most amazing job! It’s perfect. It’s just too quiet for me and the exhaust tips have always been a part of the car I disliked.
Nice one joe. I did my own front discs and pads last month. I went for pagid disks and the oem pads are Textar. The dampener plates are just metal shims that sit behind the pad back plates and between the pistons. Not sure about discs! The oem pads have fairly hefty damper weights on them to prevent squeel. Here's to some more happy miles! Also I have a miltek exhaust and love it. Calm below 3000rpm, very sonorous above 3k at full throttle!!
Might be why my brakes are now squeezing as I’ve done aftermarket. Good to hear the exhaust you have sounds good. How do you find drone and also cold starts?
Absolutely fine, no drone at all. It's subtle below 3k rpm and gets rorty as the revs rise past that. Really impressed with it since it's unvalved. Cold starts - also fine. Doesn't wake the neighbours let alone the dead. @@JoeTalksCars
The two exhausts i'm looking at for my own Cayman is either a Carnewal or TopGear exhaust. Those look to sound the best without blowing everyone's ears out, so if that's what you're looking for, those are the ones I personally recommend 👍
Just had my 2006 cayman mot done with 103k miles on it and it had advisory for discs and pads, front tyres and track rod ends. Next to nothing really, they are great cars. Love seeing the updates on the cayman and the other content you bring
Wants with you English and manual gear boxes ,racing car driver yes ,even they are getting modern ,i own manual ute thats bad enough driving in heavy traffic, bmw 330i has a sport shift beautifully quick when i want it ,cayman nothing like flicking those triptronic buttons ,im a old fella have been driving manuals for 62 years still can use two legs ,but hey love those quick autos today are fantastic,,the old autos were horrible ,if you had all day to get there they were ok ,just old sluge boxes, but things have come a long way in 62 years .im 74 and boy do i love putting metal to pedal as quick as possible .but anyway want ever floats your boat ,thats want lifes about .Cheers from down under
I fitted Topgear mild sports exhausts to my 1999 996. I can highly recommend them, slight increase in low end torque and a nice fruity note which isn't too obtrusive . Brembo brakes are among the best in the business, the standard brake calipers are Brembo, just badged as Porsche. Nothing wrong with going for aftermarket pads etc. Porsche do not make the pads. Going for a reputable brand like Ferodo, Brembo or other well known brands is fine. You can own these cars without braking the bank if you can work on them yourself and source replacement parts cheaper than manufacturer. Saying that, not all Genuine Porsche parts cost more than alternatives, so it's worth doing your homework.
Oooh now the top gear one is the exhaust that appeals most. Have you got the valved one? Worried the alternative will be too loud. Yeah I don’t tend to go aftermarket unless it’s a brand I trust.
@@JoeTalksCars No I have the un-valved one, but it's perfect for me, it's got a nice note and doesn't upset the neighbours or become annoying at motorway speeds.
Have my 2011 Cayman for a month now and am a little nuts about cleaning my wheels from the break dust. Someone mentioned ceramic brakes to reduce the dust, have to price those out
