Brake lights dont turn off 

I called a mechanic shop he made it sound so complicated and gave me a price of $100.00 to fix said parts alone would cost $40.00, I am a 64 year old woman , looked at your video and I got a screw and nut and fixed it myself in 5 to 10 minutes. great easy to understand video. Thank you!

Señor Dominguez!!!! I have been struggling for 15 min trying to get the plug in!! You were the only video that mentioned TURNING ON THE CAR to make the brake pedal easier to depress!! This created the extra room I needed to insert the plug!! Thank you SO MUCH!! 👍😀

I've seen a lot of these videos about replacing the rubber stopper/ bumper but you said something that made a light go off in my head. You mentioned that your vehicle was ON. Nobody else said anything about your car or SUV being on. You get so much more play out of the brake when the car is on. Thanks Carlos!

for anyone needing to know. He used a license plate fasteners kit [Dorman 785‑122]. Fixed my problem with the brake light staying on and my cruise control not working.

Thank you, sir, for the detailed troubleshooting on camera! I had my battery drained too and after recharging it and putting it back, I noticed the brake lights constantly on. I suspected the sensor switch right away and even inspected it, but had no idea there should be a pad installed. That explained the plastic debris that I found laying on my carpet under the pedals... I can't believe they were made out of plastic. I replaced the pad with a metal bolt and a nut. This thing is not coming off any soon! Thanks again for the help!

Man this video was a godsend. Literally took me 5 minutes to fix after watching this video. Luckily my fiance is 5 foot nothing so I made her crawl under while I held the brake pedal. Thanks again man.

NICE IDEA USING AUTO BODY TRIM SCREWS FOR A FIX ! I saw the pieces on my floorboard to my sensor pads but didn't know what they were at the time ! I sure do now & the trim screws will be a perfect fix. Silly parts store sold me a new switch but it is the brake switch pads, not the switch, that had disintegrated. My cruise control brake switch sensor pad went first , then my actual brake lights pad went. Same problem, brake lights were on constantly ! Lesson learned ,if you see little pieces of plastic on your floorboard & you didn't put them there it is probably important to find out where they came from So glad to get my cruise control back too !

After watching your video this is what I did. I noticed that my broken stopper (2004 Hyundai Elantra) was as thick as 2 nickels, so I used 5 minute epoxy and epoxied 2 nickels together. Then, I waited an hour and cleaned up the spot where the old stopper was, and 5 minute epoxied the 2 nickels in place of the stopper. The pressure of the switch was enough to hold it in place. I replaced my brake booster today and went through a similar situation with my brake switch but ordered a new one today from Amazon for little to nothing.I got a cardboard and drawstring on the senor now but will be taking it off after seeing your video until my order comes,thanks a million...

I watch the video first, and later the next day had too run up town so put the cable's back onto battery , then took off too get groceries. On the way I stopped at the mechanics shop just too see what they would charge and he told me at least $300 too diagnosed the problem & he was saying it was in the wire harness, that it got burned and that's why it was staying on. I new he was just trying to make a buck. Anyways I left from there and went and got groceries and returned home. That evening my 9 year old grandson came over too visit and I sat down and we both watched your video together and I had him put the bolts in while I pushed the break's 😁. He only charge me $5 buck's LoL and I had the bolts in the shop. Thank you for having these kind of videos made , it really saved me Money. I see how these crook's at mechanics shops make there money. Thanks again 👍

Just like yours, there was a second switch (and mine was behind the steering column -- made me glad I have long, skinny fingers!) and that was the problem. FYI one switch or sensor as you call them is for the brake light. The other switch is for cruise control and it's good that you fixed it because if it stays on your cruise control wont shut off!

Thx Carlos , i done this on my 350 today. My hands were too big so i used a needle nose pliers too hold the nipple in place.

you can get him anywhere at your locals auto parts store go to the counter and ask him for plastic screws. you won't miss them.

Awesome video!!! My Toyota truck's brake light did not want to turn off. I was able to replace my broken plastic factory piece with a small metal bolt to activate the brake light switch. Amount I paid $0.00. Thank you!!!

The first sensor you fixed was the cruise control which has no effect on the brake switch .I had to replace both, needed to lower steering column to make it more accessible.

thank you carlos, i used a plastic clip from the door trim

I fixed this by dropping in a Xmas tree clip to replace the missing gromet. I used forecepts (needle nose plyers) to push and pull it into place.

Nice. I just had the brake lights stay on in my 2001 Acura TL. Ssme problem and same fix with a $4. kit from Autozone. The pad just snaps in, The other sensor turns off cruise control when the brake pedal is depressed. The hard part is straining your neck upside down to see the parts. Invest in a tripod.

The big help I didn't know that it was two sensors on it just like you said there's two I'm having a hard time I didn't know all that paneling all come off easy or trying to do it Laying across the seat thanks a lot big help

Gonna try it! Neighbor knocked on my door the other day and said my lights were on. Checked and learned the brake lights wouldnt disengage. This seems like the fix. I will update this as soon as i check it out

Indeed… this is the video that made it all make sense. Fortunately the dealership had the part for $1.69 😃 Fixed it myself for my daughters car. If it were my vehicle I probably would have just opted for the screw 😂

My problem was fixing brake light switch problem....now I have a problem with middle brake light in back window staying on (this always worked despite left and right brake lights not working). Did I create a new problem? Also I'm thinking maybe I have 2 brake lights that need to be replaced and it was never the BRake Light Switch to begin with. What do you think?

I replaced the headlight switch and a brake switch for my 89 s10 blazer. With headlights off hit the brake lights don't work. When the headlighrs are on BOTH the running and brake are lit. How do I tell the brake to turn off?

bro i just saw this video my g37 wouldn’t go past 40 and i look at this video and the whole problem is fixed i had shops charge my 150 then i had another shop charge me 50 and infiniti charged me 260 just to diagnose the problem!
