Thanks, other octavia mk3 videos had a bit different configuration. Good tips!

Cool - yep it’s weird - there appear to be two different brake configurations on the Mk3..

Great video. Worryingly, this is giving me the confidence to change my brake pads and discs.

Great video. It's a long time since I did this job so it's given me the confidence to do an all round brakepad replacement on my Octavia. Good to see that you gave the warning about copper grease, which is still recommended in some YT videos. Thanks. Subscribed. I'm guessing that the rear brakes are very similar?
@FixItWithJon
@FixItWithJon 9 месяцев назад
@RogerM9 Really glad the video helped :-) I believe the rear are similar. I think you have to be careful on models that have hill start - the brakes need winding in via the ECU, but I'm not 100% sure - haven't done mine yet. Defo will post once I have though :-) Thank you for the subscribe as well - that *really* helps :-)

Hi bud, 30Nm - sorry it was unclear, I do mumble sometimes. Hope that helps?

Same for a 2016 4x4 petrol. Completely different calipers it seems.

@@FixItWithJon Mine is 1.6TDI, Octavia Greenline SE, calliper carrier has to be removed as well, completely different pad install too... a friends 66 plate Octavia 2.0 is the same as mine, might have been a running change in that year?
@juandef4115
@juandef4115 Месяц назад
Easy reason for that. You have a different factory caliper , or even brake system

Hi Jon. So if I have Seat Leon FR 5F from 2014 I don't have the brake pad wear indicator either? And I can buy directly brake pads without this indicator? Thanks!
@FixItWithJon
@FixItWithJon 9 месяцев назад
@jianuiancu1417 In theory bud yes. Bear in mind that all the cars listed in the description are based on the same *platform* but will have slight differences. Best thing is to give the motor factor your registration plate number when you order the pads and they should be able to check fitment compatibility. You might find like I did that you get the option for a wear indicator, but don't need it in the event.. Let me know how you get on?

How do you rate the green stuff pads?
@FixItWithJon
@FixItWithJon 7 месяцев назад
@Daniel-xc3ws Performance wise - top notch, I wouldn't use anything else. Ease of buying - a pain. You generally have to order online since the motor factors don't tend to stock. Then there's about a 50% chance that what they send you will fit (if it doesn't then you have to send back and swap for a different fitment). Then if something is on back order - even for several months, they won't send anything in your order until that 1 item on 6 month backorder arrives - not without being hassled.. So - it's worth the hassle but prepare for a bumpy customer service experience. That said - their technical support team are really knowledgable and helpful. Ordering from them is just not a very slick process. Hope that helps?

Can you legally do such a repair on the street? I'm from Poland, it's not legal here.
@FixItWithJon
@FixItWithJon 7 месяцев назад
@shakal615234 Yes it's fine as long as the vehicle has an MOT (annual safety test certificate), road tax and insurance. Can you be arrested in Poland for fixing your car on the road?
