BRAKES SEIZED ? QUICK FIX FOR STICKING BRAKES

Brakes must move freely to work properly. When the components of a brake system rust and seize they can cause the brakes to stay locked on and/or not operate correctly. Here's how to check and repair seized brakes. (Note: the best repair for seized brakes is replacement with new parts but often brakes can be returned to service with a thorough cleaning and lubrication of the sliding components. Each job will be different and the decision to return used parts into service should be done only after their inspection by a licensed mechanic).

I love finding another reason to repurpose my old toothbrushes Craig 😂 . Awesome tutorial Brother!

There are simply endless uses for old toothbrushes. Next time you go camping with Marc, just see how easily Marc's toothbrush picks up dog poop. He'll never know and you'll have learned a new skill. LOL Have a memorable weekend, Doug!

I think you're right about the C-clamp. An oldie for sure. This should keep the wheels rolling for a while but I have my eye on a new caliper if this one does not stay freed up. Take Care Marc. Have great Weekend!!

Nice job. Not raining. That’s good. Jacked up nicely, but I would put a chock block at the back tire at the back tire for extra protection Craig. Ya could have just sprayed oil in there. That would free it up. What. 🤭🤭🤭 Have a good weekend. 👍🏻👍🏻👋👋🤔🤔😁🇨🇦

Yes, Noel, a blocked rear wheel would have helped. I had the parking brake jammed on full so it wasn't moving. What fun I had! Ha Ha

How's she goin'? I noticed you did this whole job without a break!! Nice job!! Now you can stop working, or stop by Timmy's or Stop at Princess Auto, or just stop at a red light!! Awesome!! Take care!!

I seized the day when I knew I was going to get to tire you out with a brake job. I padded myself on the back for a job well done and there was no more screeching at our house. I'm just a big lug who likes to have fun but I wrenched my back pulling on that caliper. It was right after I piston the floor and my wife came out and said she was going out for the evening with a bunch of hose.

Great job on the fix. On older cars over here you could remove the seals by taking off a snap ring, take the pistons out and replace all the rubbers. Not possible now on anything we drive

Brake calipers almost seem to be build to fail. So many of them seize for no apparent reason every few years. Great if you sell them.

I let this go a little long and that's why it seized up. I try to get in there once a year but other things have taken my attention. I will change that caliper for a new one if it gives me any trouble at all. Sometimes, they never work right after they've been stuck. Other times, they are fine. We'll see. Have a great weekend, Kenny!

Nice job Craig, brakes are dirty business. 👍

Thanks, John. This freed it up for now. I think this caliper has been on there for almost 10 years with a pad change somewhere along the way. Thinking about getting a new caliper if it gives me any trouble at all.

You'll need your toothbrush for after donuts!! LOL There is a guy on RU-vid that points at every engine he works on with a toothbrush. He says it's his brother's toothbrush. Watch out for that guy too! haha His RU-vid channel is @Speedcar99.
