I got a 2023 ram 3500 DRW HO with 24,000 miles. Absolutely zero problems thus far. People complain about the aisin being sluggish but I use it as a farm rig so it's perfect for my application, exhaust brake is absolute money.
That's some crazy stuff on the replacement of the motor. I've been thinking of getting a new truck, watching your videos and others. Makes me say Hmm! My truck is a 2004 Dodge 2500 Cummins turbo 5.9 It has 173000 miles on this truck. It has never had an oil leak, still runs great. I was thinking, truck is 20 years old. I never have had a vehicle this long. Maybe I'll keep it a few more years. Take care,
Worked for GM stores for 13 years. One was a GMC/Chevy store. Averaged 100 new per month average….never once do I ever remember an engine failure from the factory. Definitely should have updated customer a S/O allocation truck. If it was done at the dealer with a long block the tech would have plenty of transfer parts to induce a leak.
I ran a 2nd gen for 12 years. Now I own a 5th gen. World of difference and vast improvements on all levels. I test drove a GM duramax but the interior and seats were not as nice as the Ram. My Cummins is the SO and it will get 1-3 mpg better then the HO. Good luck what ever direction you end up going.
I have the 2024 At4, I just hit 10,000 miles. I agree the tires are soft and I do a lot of off-road, I haul a dump trailer with skid also. I am going to do my second oil change too and im using a bigger oil filter that Denny diesel recommended. I haven't noticed the oil leaks but im going to get a closer look under there
I had an AT4. Ride is super cush but couldn’t handle a lot of weight. I also haul dump with heavy equipment amongst many kinds of trialers and concluded that the AT4 suspension is not good for heavy hauling. I switched up to 3500 and much happier with that.
I can't believe they didn't disclose the engine swap. I just bought a 2024 ultimate and absolutely love it. I had a 2023 Ram 3500 mega cab Ultimate. I liked the interior but the 6 speed trans and lack of power were the killers for me. I plan on doing a 4'' incognito lift with elka resi's, keeping the factory wheels. Hope it works out for you, cheers.
@diegodelavega1559 I just got rid of a '23 F350 king ranch, traded for a denali after only 2800 miles. The ford stinks right now.... at least for me it did
@dirtnakedfarms I'm surprised, to be honest! From an experience, Ford is one of the most reliable vehicles you could possibly buy. You see, I own car workshops and showrooms where I import American cars such as Ford, Lincoln, GM, Ram, etc.. Nothing's more reliable and can easily pass the 320,000 mils without major problems like the Ford. Not just the pick-up! All models. Here GM, Cadillac, Dodge, Ram, Mazda, Toyota etc.. they come to my store to buy the motocr oil, batteries!
@@diegodelavega1559 my brother worked at the engineering department at Ford motor company and they have tons of recalls. They have a bunch of foreigners in many departments who are under paid and therefore it reflects in the recalls. No thank you. Also no leaks in the L5P duramax and no recalls
Definitely a 1 off type of problem. I can tell you that it doesn’t matter what you buy everything will have some failures off the shelf. Automotive, aircraft, marine….. you name it. Sounds to me like you haven’t had any problems at all but some cause for a little concern! Just passed 12k miles on my 24’ AT4 and the only thing I can’t get to stop leaking is the tires.
Mines perfect, I tow a 20k dump trailer and the truck tows it like it ain't there. I traded a Ram 3500 with the high output cumins and Aisin trans in for it and the difference is light years. I hated the Ram so much because it was ALWAYS in the wrong gear, stupid thing would dog out and fall on its face unless it was in manual. Even then the thing was a dog but very torquey. Just can't get used to how low end the torque was. The GMC is like driving a sports car but it's a heavy duty truck. Can't beat it !!!!!!! ❤ my truck is a 3500 AT4 with the duramax
I have a 2024 Sierra AT4x Duramax, it has been in the dealer for 18 days out of the first 30 days for audio issues, egr limp mode (came unplugged?) various this and that replaced. Was excited to get it at first, but now after the issues I have had, seriously regret buying it… My sisters new f150 had 4wd transfer case issues, what on earth big 3? Are we back to 1970s quality again?
I just bought a 2024 2500hd and have done a lot of Lift kits and was considering just a 3 inch leveling kit this time. My suggestion if leveling kit would be hands down a 3 inch leveling kit with their Elka 2.5 resi shocks, only thing is with a leveling kit is cv angle won't be flat
I agree that a blown engine from the factory is horrible. However, they may have forgot to put oil in it when testing or something… meaning someone likely got fired. It happens but as long as they correct it you are good. Now running a motor for 30 seconds or so probably wouldn’t actually blow the motor, but the wear would be substantial! And replacing the block is the right thing for them to do.
Love it 500 miles in. Incredible truck I’ll keep everyone posted. Probably a still shot video coming out tonight on my channel and full walk around this weekend
I would keep taking it back to the dealer for the issues. Force GM to buy back the truck, may take an attorney. Too many computers and emission controls on the new trucks. I recommend 15-16 LML Duramax with CP3 conversion and emissions "weight loss" plan.
I had a 2017 l5p with 430k miles . Only issue I got was @ 150k emissions related . Did the weight loss . And no issues . Sold it @ 430k Currently got a 2023 l5p dually with almost 100k miles . Up to date no issues . Only regular maintenance. I hotshot with my truck . Chevy ftw . I think it’s a hit n miss with trucks just like it can be with ford or Cummins imo
I played this leak game with GM on my brand new Pontiac G8 back in 2009 with the L76. It was a leaking rear main and the guy would straight face tell me "it's not leaking, it's seeping". They eventually replaced it after I got corporate involved and threatened lemon.
Toyota did that to me with my 2011 Tundra. Rear main was leaking, they claimed it was "just seepage". Then right after warranty expired, rear main got way worse and they tried to say it wasn't related to the "seepage".
New to the channel here, but I believe you have a strong case for the lemon law. I’ve had two GM vehicles purchased back by GMC via the lemon law. You have to start off by opening a case with GM customer service. They were really responsive and called me back every three days no matter if they had any news or not. They completely repurchased my 2017 GMC Yukon, XL, and a 2020 GMC Acadia via the lemon law. I still own my original 2007 GMC 2500 Sierra diesel. Knock on wood I’ve never had any issues with it. If you want more information about the law in your state hit me up. It’s not a hard process, but it takes about a month to go through it.
They should’ve told you about the end of replacing I bought a new Chevy high country. Glad that didn’t happen to me. I would definitely give it back and start over.
Sad that with all the Technology today, an truck already had a new New motor in it! I mite find a nice early 90s truck,im stuck with 2014 GMC 1500 Sierra, did know all the shit goes wrong with them intell two weeks after i bought it!!
Comming from a ram, its very hard for me to buy a gmc with EVERYBODY haveing major issues. Sux cuz its best looking truck by far. Had 3 ram hds. None of them went to dealer for anything
They need to put it on a Dyno machine and allow it to drive until they see the leak. Or install a camera under and watch it. It just seems easier to track without wing. Tires- my last 3 sets of tires on my Duramax hd2500 have been nitto ridge grapplers. All three sets have made it 70 k miles. They are very quite and ride well. Highly recommended.
Check the oil cooler. Many are leaking oil from a failed gasket. I have a 24 Duramax with 450 miles. Oil cooler is leaking oil and the power steering box is leaking steering fluid. All parts are back ordered.
My 2004 Silverado duramax is running fine with no issues at 335k miles… this really wants me to rebuild the entire engine and driveline and transmission once my truck dies
I just purchased my AT4X 2500 and drove it straight home never touch it I left outta town for work within 4 days the driver side brake light is on and no one has touched it. Anyone else experiencing this also running board lights works when they want to.
Had plenty of electrical issues in the 6 months I kept this truck.. but not the brake light. Mostly things like mirrors/running boards/radio intermittently doing what it wanted
I forgot to add they put those good year wranglers on my 1500 gmc when I first bought it. Those tires are pure crap. Thank god they put Michelins on my new 2024 gmc sierra 2500
having the same problem and more with 2024 2500HD AT4. I know how you feel the dealer I'm dealer I'm driving me crazy. My problem. :1) rust under the driveshaft. 2 Tran computer when bad. they replace 3) now Tran leaking. waiting for parts (back order it's been a month) moister in the two-frog light and taillight on the rear roof. (still not fix) climate control went out (they fix it) I'm about making some video on this as well. Thanks for sharing. Anyone how to contact GM. My dealership I'm dealing with suck.
Life long superduty owner, after seeing how fragile aluminum is...im now looking elsewhere. Its a shame not the ol heavyduty trucks they once where .The truck otherwise has been good with 140k no problems. Looking into gmc and besides cummins idk if i trust a dodge
Homie you payed the same amount for your 24 as I did. Yet they slapped a new engine in it all while a dealership held that disclosed. You didn't buy a lemon you bought a 100k diesel. Sue those fucks and get your moneys worth on something you can beat the shit out of. Or... get a powerstroke. I would raise hell
@@diegodelavega1559 soon as I get it to my house I’ll be posting my journey.. it will be a simple truck for sure but I’m going to make it tougher than new
Did I hear you right they changed the engine in your brand new truck - That is BS they only drive them around the block to prep the truck. Also there is not going to be any oil on a new motor. so that is BS as well. I would demand a new truck - by law they have to disclose the engine was replaced. Another option is to ask for a substantial discount or your calling an attorney. It's worth a try all these dealers are animals these days! Mike
Blown engine from the factory is common?? Great job GM. That’s why I purchase a 23 tundra TRD off road! I refuse to patronize the big 3 with there insane prices
all right I bought a 2024 standard cab Duramax 2 months ago I have about 3,000 mi and I got transmission fluid all over the place haven't even pulled anything with it yet GM fan always have been but you're letting me down guys you're letting me downtruck was bought with the thought diesel GM take care of it it'll run forever didnt even make it 2 months. Before I bought this I say a guy with nice new ram and complemented it. He said f ram f the whole company. He had 1000 miles and it had entire computer system replaced twice and transmission issues after. We as a nation should be capable of building trucks. Wtf
AT4 suspension is different from regular GM 2500-3500s. Very squishy. Doesn’t haul as well. Many people don’t know this and GM doesn’t really do a good job informing people
Mine was leaking oil from oil cooler straight on my way from dealer... After 8000 miles they finally fixed it but now I have to do something with my driveway - looks like I parked 20 yr old car there...
You should really dig into the engine swap because if the engine was replaced in the original dealership lied to you. you have recourse to Lemon Law your truck. Before other people attack the original engine was replaced pretty much directly from the factory from the sounds of it and now you're leaking oil again
I bought a 2024 gmc sierra 2500 hd SLT it came with Michelin tires. They put this good year wrangles on dodge ram also. Those wrangler tires are pure crap. They won’t last long they sure will not go up to tread life. I have bought two trucks with those Goodyear wranglers On them. Like I said they put Michelin tires on my gmc from factory
Man the GMC is the best looking truck but it’s like having a hot girlfriend… you’re gonna have problems. 23 450 HO almost 10 thou for miles and no problems so far just ugly front end. I guess I’ll deal with a fugly truck that runs day in and out.
You might want to call a lemon law lawyer in your state and tell them the story about the dealer swapping out the engine and still selling the truck as new...without disclosing it to you until you started having problems with it. I suspect what the dealer did was illegal and the line they fed you about a bad engine being like a flat tire is complete BS, but the laws in each state are a little different and I don't want to speak out of turn. At any rate, the phone call won't take a minute and at least then you'll know if you have any legal grounds for a grievance against the dealer. It's just unacceptable to pay that much money and have these kinds of problems so early on in your ownership. Sorry this happened to you. I've always dreamed of owning a diesel myself, but it seems Ford, Ram, and GM are all having problems of one kind or another with their diesel power plants now with the EGR, DPF, and DEF systems strangling the engine the entire time (the EGR is the worst, but the other two don't help matters). Makes me hesitant to buy one now, to be honest, which is probably what the EPA wants in the end. No more diesels. I'm on my 3rd Ram, but lately I've been dreaming of a GMC 3500 crew cab dually Denali Ultimate. It's a gorgeous truck, but spending over $100K for a truck when you can't really trust the drive train makes for a tough sell.
Go Ram buddy, I’ve had GM /Chevy for over 20 years , had a 2021 Chevy 6.6 gasser , pile of shit ,all sorts of problems burned 2 quarts of oil in 4k mile oil change intervals . Had it towed to Ram dealership and traded it broken for a 2500 hemi 6.4 ,my first Ram/Dodge and so far it’s been great.good luck .
DO NOT BUY NO MORE GMC TRUCKS I HAD A GUY TOLD ME HE JUST GOT HIS 4 WEEKS AGO LAST MONTH IN JUNE HE PUT 3,000 miles IN IT, MOTOR BROKE THEN THEY GAVE HIM ANOTHER ONE. HE PUT 1,800MILES ON IT, MOTOR BROKE HE GOT PISS. HE TOOK IT BACK AND GOT A BRAND NEW 2024 FORD F-250 TREMOR 500HP, 1,200FT. FORD IS WAY BETTER.
