I don’t think of Jesse’s past mistakes. We all make them. It doesn’t take away from the fact that Brand New made great music. I’ve listened to them daily for so many years of my life.
@@v3n0mb1t3zz we’ve all formed our own opinions on what actually happened and I respect yours even though I don’t agree. I can’t speak for everyone, but I know that I relate to Jesse because I’m human and know that at the end of the day I am no better than him. Long live Brand New
@@v3n0mb1t3zz he never fucked any kids, did you even do actual research on the scandal or look into the accusers social media history? Or did you just read a headline, follow the narrative and say "yup, thats good enough for me"?
Brand new is one of those bands that got better and better with every album. Science Fiction is a God damn masterpiece that should be observed in a museum.
Personally think SF is not thier best work, they never topped Deja in some circles but to me TDAG is by far one of the best alt rock albums of the 2000's
This might be one of the best songs I've ever heard. The layering of the instruments combined with the genius lyrical metaphors from Jesse.... damn, this is good.
If anyone has had the personal experiences in their life to truly and fully understand the context of their lyrics in a lot of their songs: I'm impressed; I sympathize; I am sincerely sorry for whatever you've went through; I'd love to have a conversation with you
“I’ll carry this box to the proper place, Gonna lower it down and let you fade away I hope that you would do this for me Well I’d serve you drugs on a silver plate, If I thought it would help you get away. I hope that you would do this for me.” My boyfriend died on thanksgiving day 2018 of an unexpected drug overdose (unexpected meaning no one had any idea that he was using heroin). I was 27 at the time and had been listening to Brand New since I was... 11 or 12. I definitely experienced real trauma in my childhood that allowed me to identify with their lyrics about self-hate and existential apathy, and as I got older I thought I understood what they were writing when it came to heartbreak. But only after I lost him was I like “holy fuck”
I like that they said something tothe affect of never knowing they could write "songs" I get it as a musician, like you make music, play music, play shows, but sometimes it just feels like cooking with a recipe book and sometimes you write something and hear it and feel it; a good surprise, almost as if your song was written by someone else but it wasn't, it was a product of letting go, closing the recipe book...I think they only get better as they grow further away from the pop expectations their first album and the singles off their second album (not that I don't still listen to them) had immediately then created, they walking an original unbeaten path, instead of burning out or becoming bland, like most bands that gained Mtv stardom did, these guys' reinvention and experimentation gives off an allegorical Phoenix-like experience, a "brand new" Brand New, and their albums pull off the jump-cut dynamics between hard, violent sounding rock and the soft cathartic songs, while still incorporating their own melodic ballads.
This song brings tears to my eyes and resolve to my heart = the words are incredible, brilliant metaphors! My absolute favorite song ever since it came out!! I especially like this acoustic version, THEY JUST GET BETTER WITH EACH ALBUM.
I have to ask if anyine else is as impressed by how much Vinnies voice has matured? And how amazing they sound together! I am so floored every time I hear them sing together its like the first time. Amazing.
I love the way they change genres every album, it's incredibly impressive to listen to three different songs by the same band and have all of them sound different.
Honestly when I want to show someone a song from Daisy I show them songs from this session because most of them are so much better than the album version
well I stole bricks from the dam almost every day now I'm drowning in the flood I made well explain myself to me on the other side I'm going to want some answers when I die
For the longest time I considered Daisy my favorite Brand New album. I think it'll always be in second place, but TDaG has won me over again, just like it did the first time I heard it.
The funny thing is, is the album this song came off of came out in '09 and I am still not bored with the album nor any other put out by them. Also, I am not really itching for a new album either, but still hope that someday they do make another one. :)
Can we please have more videos like this? Re-jam albums however you want, the few times I've seen you guys live, you always bring a new experience with every song I am familiar with and love. I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only fan who would buy albums of different takes of songs, much like your Unreleased album vs. TDAGARIM. You guys are absolutely phenomenal.
a band that i gre wup with, made my intire high school carrer tthat much better, almost every memory i have of my sophomore and junior year hanging out with friends, i remember listening to these guys, fight off your demons the devil and god, one of my favorite bands for sure, the reason that i even bought a guitar
This band is genius in studio environments. That’s always been what has appealed to me the most, that and Jesse’s voice/lyrics. They should still be making music IMO. Too good.
I really wish they would do a full album of covers anythimg to get them back into the studio Together. the world needs more songs that actually have meanings
Live acoustic album please!!!! Just record some jams, I'll pay top dollar to have more Brand New in my music library even if it's exclusively old songs reworked.
it actually does affect us since we have to spend our time watching the advertisements. if your argument is that the time spent watching ads is miniscule, or that our time spent is not as important as we claim, then clearly its you who is confused about what our time and attention are worth cause clearly it means the world to vevo and the bands they sell.
I thought immediately of Nirvana's "On a Plane", or "Plateau" when I heard "At the Bottom" for the first time- which is weird, because I didn't associate the two bands together at all until this session. Bit eerie, but the way Jessie sings 'Bottom sounds like Cobain moaning from the grave. Definite references to his band here; and a neat effort at carrying Brand New's distinct sound in it. I would love to see another "God and the Devil" album- carry on the work guys.
@AlecMejiaShow Me too! And u don't know how I wish to see Brand New live, come to Mexico or Latin America! Ok, I think that the only way to see these guys live will be in USA, I have to wait again. And this version is beautiful, is amazing, is only. Thanks Brand New to change my life.
@AlecMejiaShow But is more probably and easy see live to Brand New in USA, I am almost sure that Brand New never comes to Mexico or another country in South America. I have all his albums and they cost me the double, but I love so much this band, really Brand New changes my life, is one of my favorite bands of all Time.
@Hbryant188 I saw that tour! Maybe only 20% of the crowd was there for Brand New but by the end of their set, the entire place was in an uproar for them. They're pretty much that amazing.
You have to take into consideration blind folks, parkinson's disease, animals touching our screens/keyboards; there's a lot of variables to why that dislike button has been pressed...
@Hbryant188 considering i had been going to sold out Brand New shows years before they co-headlined with Dashboard, no. that was not before they became famous. they had a certified Gold record as a punk band 3 years before the show....c'mon now
@MaDc0w666 No way, bro. The replay button had it coming, sitting out there after an awesome video like this. Besides, you can't say "no" if you can't say anything...
@Hbryant188 Fall Out Boy, Panic, yeah. The only one who hasn't hit it big yet has been Motion City Soundtrack (c'mon guys, I know you can do it!) but yeah, that one tour was insane. Our crowd was so ridiculously lopsided though because we're in Dashboard's home turf so their parents and family were all at the show. I think it was just before Devil/God came out, right?
@TNation98 I read on some of the other videos that Jessee left the band. Not sure if it's true and I hope not. I've never had the chance to see them live because they've never came within a reasonable distance to where I live to go see them.
