Brand new EOTech Green Reticle

These are pretty tough...dropped mine from 4ft straight out of the box onto a concrete floor. I died a little inside, almost didn't even want to pick it up. Not even a scratch...and it still works. Pretty happy with that. I live in AZ and typically shoot outdoors during the day. The green is so easy to see in the bright sun, not even close with the red. On a side note the reticule looks much cleaner/sharper through the 3x magnifier.

If you've ever wondered why Eotech bothered more to make a Green reticle than make an optic without an auto shut off that you can't disable and more longevity out of the battery, go and hit that like button.

Seems like everyone is doing green. The one issue I've seen with it, and others seem to have brought this up too, is that green reticles sometimes have a bad tendency to blend with some outdoor environments. Seems like red always contrasts better in daylight.

If you've ever played around with red and green lasers you'll notice the green is grainy in that scenario still, when I looked it up it's apparently due to wave interference, so maybe with a different diode tech in the future this can be solved but for now it seems pretty universal.

I'd assume the actual reason for the greens being more fuzzy is because the light waves are of a higher frequency and so won't collide as smoothly and will have a bit more interference occurring. Odds are they just need to polarize the light to smooth it out but that's gonna decrease the light intensity, meaning you gotta turn the output up, dropping battery life.

As a Marine, I can tell you WE BREAK SHIT. The reason is because we do everything wide open full blast. We expect our gear to be as hard as we are. Most of the time it isn't. WHEN IT ABSOLUTELY HAS TO BE DESTROYED OVERNIGHT....they call us.

Great review. Having protanomaly color-blindness, the green reticle is WAY easier for me to see. Red reticles are almost only visible to me in low light conditions.

I just got in my exps2-0 green yesterday, and as soon as I unboxed it and turned it on, I definitely noticed the fuzziness compared to other red reticle Eotech’s. I wear proscription glasses and for those of you who do as well, it looked like I wasn’t wearing my glasses when looking through it. I definitely don’t like it as much I wanted to, but would definitely recommend the red reticle as well.

Holosun is changing the price game with their sealed pistol and rifle optics in 3 colors/reticals configurations and lights/IR/lasers for rifles and pistols. We will see how reliable they are. Also try them if you have an astigmatism. I find them very clear compared to Aimpoint and Eotech.

My 518 leaked all the gas out, fogged up, and the laser was so dim it wasn't daylight visible. Threw it back in the box and vowed never to buy another one after they said I would have to pay to have it fixed. After the lawsuit, I sent it back and can enjoy it again.

I bought the Holosun with green because I'm colorblind and cannot pick out the red out of the terrain. Love it and when I show normal people they seem to like it too.

Favorite western firearm has to be the Winchester 1897 "trench gun". My grandfather left it for us among other lever actions and such, but that one has the most character and is unique.

I realize this was done over three years ago so things might have changed , I just bought a OPMOD Green eotech I used to own A red 512 Eotech, I bought the red because of this video due to my eye having a stig and i was fearful with green it would be a blurry mess, That said, The red eotech i owned was slightly fuzz due to what i thought was my eyes but it was still very usable, I just got the green today And fck!! this thing is the sht, It's clear crisp the dot in the center is smaller then the red was the circle is cleaner, I don't know if eotech got it together since this video but I'd never go back to red after getting this green unit, Clean crisp super small dot but easily definable. Best purchase i made, Really pleased i followed my own mind,Its nothing thumb described in this video. Total opposite.5/20/22

The human eye is more sensitive to green but responds fastest to red. Just a useful data point.

Single-Action Army. Because it paved the way for it's newer, improved cousin: the Ruger Blackhawk, among the strongest revolvers ever made. I've always been a wheel gun fan, especially single-actions. I'm also a huge Bob Munden fan and my one goal I have before I die is to become good enough with a single-action wheel gun to do that double-balloon shot thing that he did. If I can pull it off once, my life will be complete.

I just bought the green eotech came in the mail last night. Super fuzzy.... like a blob. I don’t have astigmatism, did have LASIK eye surgery when I was 18.... I’m 41 now and I’ve seen starbursts in lights ever since. However, I have a flip to side magnifier that I put behind it, and BANG! Super clean, almost no starburst effect, fuzziness is gone. I think it may be designed to run with a magnifier. At close range.... it’s not going to matter... put the green dot on the target and squeeze, but at distance it would make dramatic difference and you would need that better sight picture. Try putting a magnifier behind it and see if it helps.

Favorite old wester firearms are 1873 Colt SAA in .45 Colt and the Winchester 1873 in .44 WCF (.44-40 Win) or my 1860 Henry reproduction by Henry Repeating Arms also in .44-40 since the original cartridge the .44 Henry Rimfire/flat is none existent. The 1860 Henry with its bright hardened brass receiver and deep blue finish as well as very high grade walnut wood buttstock with brass buttplate is by far the most beautiful looking rifle I own. It’s just not all that fun to keep clean and the receiver looking so beautifully polished but every time someone see it in my home they instantly want to touch it. You should do a review sometime as a throw back to the lever action rifles of the past. I think you’d find the Winchester’s to be fast handling and pretty awesome for what they are. I have a Bushnell Banner scope on my hunting rifle, which you can switch between a green and red "CF500" reticle. I think it is great to be able to use a green "hair cross" on early mornings with a red sunrise, and then turn it red when the sun is up and the green forest takes over.

Had a shower trailer on my first FOB, at least 2 of the 3 stalls stayed broke because the rifle platoon we were attached to apparently couldn't understand how shower knobs work. Can confirm, Marines break EVERYTHING Also, Colt Walker 1847

Eh I still like the Green EOTech. The green works really well for me especially if it's insanely bright and hot outside. Shoot with the sun in front or off to your side, reflecting off the sand, I've noticed the red washes out. I have to turn my brightness all the way up to see it and that kills the bat, the green I can keep on lower setting. As far as old western firearms for pistols it's probably the Remington 1875 and rifles the Original Henry rifle in 44-40 Winchester.

I have a vortex strike fire II that has the shitty dual color setting but I've honestly preferred using green in mixed/low light, just because it's a softer color on lower settings on my specific optic. It's definitely good for colorblind people though, or if for whatever reason you just overall prefer green

Dude! Your review of the green dot was spot on!!! Wish I had watched the vid before purchasing. Not saying the sight is no good, I just have OCD when it comes to sharpness, crispness, and a clean look. Those galaxy dots irk me to no end. It’s all good though...imma still roll with it. Hell, we’re matched now. *insert shoulder shrug*

I have an older Bushnell that has a Green & Red reticle which I run for my tactical Ruger 10/22... LOVE the Bushnell for its low cost, & clarity on a plinking platform... I like both but far prefer the Red setting... I have played with red & green for so many years that I now gravitate to all red... My Eotech dot is in BLOOD RED:)

I got the green Eotech and it’s definitely super fuzzy, and I don’t have a stigmatism, but shooting it and focusing passed the reticle it’s great! But 10/10 wish I got the red one especially now that I know I’m not the only one getting shat on by a new product

I shot the prototypes for EOTech before they were released to the public when they were first made in pistol competition. The reason they are fuzzy is because the dot or reticle pattern which you used to be able to change are etched in to the lens and illuminated by a laser. Most red dots are projected on to the lens which is where the parallax comes in. When I broke the prototypes I would take them back to the production facility and the engineers. I lived a couple hours away. While talking to the Engineer I told him when I was prone really dialing in on 50 yards groups with my pistol it looked like the dot (6 min. At that time) was crawling. He told me impossible, No way I can see that. I told him not while doing normal shooting. He said impossible to see. I replied it’s turning on and off isn’t it. Turns out it was in like milliseconds. It is illuminated by a laser and that was how to get battery life. It has been many years however I would bet the Green is requiring more time from the laser leading to shorter battery life and a fuzzier look than the red. I still have the prototypes and production model with a changeable reticle and integral 1911 and 2011 mounts and they all still work.

Just picked one of these up. Noticed the same thing @9:25. A lot of guys say the green acog reticle doesn't bloom as much. My theory is that the individual dots of the eotech are picked up more clearly and tend to separate, where the red blends together. Only problem is that mine is encrusted in jizz now. So I can't verify.
