I love to the two paths AR's have created in the last decade. The combat gun vs the competition gun. The advancements coming out of both realms drive the industry and they are moving at hyper speed. Faster and better then ever before.
I particularly like the intersection of the two. They diverge to specialize in their unique realms, then come together to improve the two separate yet related streams
And soon you will lose all access to such firearms for at least 4 years. At least. Don’t worry though violent criminals will have full access. At least honorable men in the military and LEO will also be armed.
Adam McMillen lol im not even shitting. Watch Mike ramble, pause at 14:14 to look up JP Trigger cost, continues video, wipe for no reason - profit. Back to the ARFCOM EE to look for KAC Parts....
Naw, BCM never was never in this market. BCM is great but no one would run it against a JP in comp. You could buy 2 Jacks for the same price as this one.
Nah bwo he should do a chairsofters review for no reason but to do it because it would be hilarious just him super serious then you hear the zit zit zit of a grouping of about 20 Moa at 100 feet even though that is basically impossible with an Airsoft gun
All movie weapons are required to be capable of firing 140 rounds out of 30 round mags without recoil, not only the m4. Also, they are build with a dramatic scene detector which makes the gun jam and/or increase the difficulty of reloading but only in those particular scenes. Unlike firearms, laser guns in the movies are required to have a lot of recoil and be fed from box magazine.
You guys don't understand the frustration, flannel man lives 30 min away from me. I keep throwing bricks with my phone number through his windows but he just shoots at me. WHY WON'T YOU LOVE ME FLANNEL MAN
Hm, I'll have to put it on my ever-growing list. Absolutely love their buffer system, makes my AR much quieter and smoother. also GAU-8. on a scale, i'd give it A10
2:37 *HOLD ON, LETS BE HONEST GT...* At the NRA show, I was in the JP Enterprises both when you made eye contact & that guy didn't yell out "Grand Thumb", he yelled "HEY BREAD CRUMB"....LOL.
Cryo fit is where the fits are slightly too tight at room temp, then they freeze the male part to contract the material for assembly - that way as it warms up it expands in to the female part to create a super tight fit. Giggidy.
What if my penis is too small for sex? Should I heat it with a torch before inserting it into the birthing canal? Virgin here so all advice is appreciated
Reloading wont save you money, you just end up shooting more.. Time wise it can take a while, but instead of watching tv, im up in the gun room loading rounds while listening to audible or youtube.. Its something to do in the winter time when the weather sucks.
That’s what small heaters are for. Trust me it worth it when it’s 27 degrees in the garage... if you get brass from ranges and you don’t buy Barnes bullets for $40 for 50 rounds you can get rounds down to 9-11 cents (I so love Barnes ttsx for my 6.8 but good lord you need to take out a second mortgage)
@@davidwarren719 absolutely, even components are getting scarce.. Every time i see a decent deal i grab it because we wont see low prices again for a long time
MIAthe305 swear to god I almost just stopped at Chipotle after my game for a late snack and then I read your comment and was instantly reminded of the morning I would have tomorrow. Chick Fil A here I come.
I just bought and built my first AR and am loving my new hobby more and more daily. This video is awesome, I could watch you shoot that for hours. Great job brother!
I seldom comment on RU-vid but feel it necessary. Just got back from Shot Show and had the opportunity to visit their booth and actually meet the owner of the company. He was there explaining his weapon systems. That is always refreshing. I will concur on this flat / round trigger, it is awsome. The more I fooled with it the more I liked and I first picked it up I thought it was a big gimmick. I have been a big proponent of another trigger company but will have to try one these triggers. It feels amazing and I have not got to fire one yet. Actually seeing this weapon it is actually just described in the video.Impressive company, i had never seen anything ever theirs prior.
JP is on another level. During a Vegas PRS style match, dust was blowing everywhere, and I watched bolt guns jam up and bind, and gas guns get stoppages left and right... EXCEPT for 2 people who were running JP AR10 rifles. They never had an issue for the whole match. And that has examplified my JP experience in general. After owning BCM, DD, Colt, Anderson, and Aero Precision ARs, I submit that JP is the best. They can make highly reliable AR15s that match the toughest BCM money can buy, but JP can also make podium status competition rifles with accuracy that matches custom bolt rifles. They even make excellent PCCs. JP can do it all, and Im a believer. I will buy another as soon as I get the money lol.
Just bought a complete 18" JP upper off my son for $700. Going to contact JP for a lower build. Can't wait to scope it and test the accuracy. Awesome vid, amazing how you can rapid fire with no muzzle flip. Thanks for all the info. Subscribed!
Hands down the M249 SAW. Best weapon system ever. Private cant shoot? Give him a SAW. Joe can't hump mortars or a M240? A SAW is the answer. Need to expend brass at an easy range at the end of the fiscal year? You need a SAW. How about a stupid time trial contest because the CO is bored? Nothing eats time like stripping down and putting back together a SAW. In the rain. Blindfolded. Yes, the SAW does it all.
My only problem with the SAW is finding ones that don't go to complete shit. I've been in maybe 1 unit that had SAWs that worked as flawless as you'd expect, and that's only because we barely used them.
I was just replying to GT based on my experience. I also like the good old fashioned M16. Its like DFAC chicken. It isn't particularly good but it gets the job done for the masses. I just remember the SAW fondly. I was a nonshooting PVT at Ft. Drum and humped a SAW all over the place for about a year or so. Fond memories.
Craig Willcutt haha DFAC chicken is a great analogy. I agree with you, the M-16 design is my favorite but specifically the M4 just based on sure modularity and overall mission capabilities.
If you’ve made it this far into the comments, hurry up and hit that like button because your squad leader has prolly spent hours looking for you and a blue falcon just told him you’re in your car. Kakaaw!
If you can't find a better place then your bloody car to skate you are not skating right. You need to show up doing stuff while you are skating to make them question if you even skate at all.
The M1911 for me... Just so iconic. BTW, never seen Daddy G so excited about a product before. Must really be a phenomenal rifle. Looking forward to the duty rifle collab.
I can tell you love it, you couldn't keep your hands off of it. You'd set it down and then pick it right back up. Lol. I use JP's silent capture spring and almost bolt carrier group. JP is on a different level. I just haven't rationalized spending that much on an AR platform, but that SCR 11 would be my pick with just a little different configuration.
Sounds like you're going to be doing more with JP in the future. Nice review on the SCR-11. If you look a little deeper, one of the benefits of a JP is you can configure them to your needs. They produce duty grade rifles that are around $1500 or you can order a rifle and build it specifically for your needs. E.g., if you want the accuracy of the thermofit barrels in the Wylde chamber, but reliability is the most important feature, then go with a full mass bolt carrier and the more traditional recoil assembly from JP. You can also spec barrels with a .556 chamber.
My legs went dead totally dead like non functional dead weight had to throw myself off the toilet and lay there with evil evil pins and needles untill they worked again last time ive ever wached a yt video on the crapper it was hell fuck that ever happening again
Seeing that there is a new Garand Thumb video out triggers a shit now. Works better than coffee or x-lax. "Oh, hey, new GT vid- FUCK! MOVE. GOTTA POOP."
I built a a 16” gun with a JP barrel and matched bolt. My skill needs work but Travis shot it in Indiana a few years back. 50yd group could probably have been covered with a dime and that was with garbage ammo. Optic was an AimPoint PRO. Just amazing accuracy out of their barrels.
Garand Thumb, I'm looking very forward to seeing the follow-up video to the one above based on your testing after 10,000 rounds. I am seriously looking at a JP and am waiting to hear what you have to say about your extensive testing, the components, and input on a duty rifle.
You don't reload to save money. You reload so you can shoot more. If it costs half as much to reload your own ammo, you're just going to shoot twice as much. The big benefit of reloading .223/5.56 is that it reloads very similarly to a pistol cartridge, as most rifles do not use a full length resizing die, while the .223/5.56 does. That makes it easier to reload, and you get a more consistent product with less effort. My favorite US military weapon has to be the M1918 BAR.
@@TheTrueLostThoughts It's pretty good actually. Dinah Madani's back. I wasn't really a big fan of her in Season 1, but in Season 2, she's a more grounded and relatable character, one with vulnerabilities without being incompetent and without a chip on her shoulder. The show also takes very subtle potshots at extremists on both ends of the spectrum, and the antagonists are just as complex as the protagonists which always makes for a great story.
@@2013branth lol I hated every scene with her in it. It didn't seem like season 1 even tried to make the audience care about her. I'll have to give season 2 a shot later. Thank you for your feedback!
My all time favorite U.S. Military weapon is either the M24 , or the Barrett M107 ... Not because they are the best for utilitarian use , just because of the cool factor . Plus the sheer power of the M107 is just awesome...
This video is a great example of how one overcomes pride and prejudice! For the favourite US made military gun I am going to have to go with the Westinghouse M-27 Phased Plasma Pulse Rifle.
I wasn't a fan of the M240L. The M240B had the thicker barrel and didn't have that terrible buttstock they put on the Lima. Overall the 240 was my favorite firearm I used in the army.
I'd guess muzzle signature is pretty high on the list of considerations. Shooting prone with a brake is going to kick some dust around if not prepared for. Ideally there would be no muzzle flash at night. A supersonic bullet is going to make a lot of noise going down range but the gasses at the source can be slowed down to reduce the report. All of that is more for shooting from an established stationary position stealthily, I think guys kicking in doors are more concerned with reliability than anything else.
Duty rifles need minimal concussion and flash. The concussion makes it terrible to use indoors for the shooter, but especially for his teammates next to him. It also kicks up an absurd amount of dust and debris outside, and shooting urban prone is a nightmare. The flash washes out NVG's, draws fire (especially at night), and blinds the shooter in low light. Also, competition guns have changes made to increase speed and decrease recoil, but usually at the expense of reliability. Basically, a comp gun throws all of these things out of the window in favor of recoil mitigation and speedy controls.
I watch all of my YT videos on 1.25 speed, and everytime I watch one of Garand Thumb's videos, it makes it look like he's shooting in full auto all the time.
Good job J.P you have inspired a generation of high-school boys to mow extra yards and shovel more snow in the hope that they can buy 1 on their 18th birthday (at least thats what they dream of here in N. Idaho)
I loved my M2. Slung a lot of shit out of it in the sandbox. I’d like to see you take a look at the Robinson XCR-L. I’ve almost completely sworn off ARs for it!
We need a 5 minute camera man intro. He's the one we love. Reloading is a cool idea, but for me I don't think the time is worth it. #DadLife #Waifu Best gun ever: MP5! (even though I guess that's not "military")
Best gun ever: imagine...a brand new m16a4, with all the new goodies. Just issued and BRM begins tomorrow. Drill walks over and doesn't even smoke you cause the parkerizing is glistening. Before you pop to at ease he says "as you were. That's bitch is pretty, clean and oil her up...we shoot tomorrow" and walks away. That rifle, she was my fave. 04. Charlie bang skeet skeet
Reloading is a great skill and capability to have. Period. Can’t buy 5.56 right now locally, but bullets, primers, cases and powder are much more available. Yeah, it takes time to build them but some ammo is better then no ammo.
Never fired an American military weapon. As South African paratroopers we were issued the R4, a weapon based on the Galil assault rifle, fires a 5.56 NATO round. Great review GT.
On my day off I was perusing through past Garand Thumb videos and this is one of my favorites. Questions: Have you done follow ups with this trigger? If so, what were your findings. Also, as a blueline guy, I was looking at the JP Enterprises RR-JP15PR Patrol Ready Rifle. Yes, as you mentioned, the handguard is different, but...it's not a deal breaker. Would you consider doing a review on this particular rifle? Thanks for all you do and I am looking forward to more reviews on plate carriers. Take care and God bless.
HEY GT, I understand speed is important, and I understand why it's important. #1 it looks cool and we all know that is most the important factor of any shooting discipline. Looking cool is very subjective, and I think it would look awesome to see a video on trigger discipline and the fundamentals of marksmanship. For new shooters especially, (and maybe allot of the guys who watch these videos that may look up to you are) speed is a mistake amplifier. Probably not for you, but for many of us, when our excitement level is high and our skill level is low, we may blast away as fast as we can and call that "training" because we can hit targets with a rifle at handgun distances. But what we won't develop is a sense of why that speed is important, and more importantly when that speed is more important than being accurate. Thanks GT, love the vids you run a trigger like a boss.
Favorite military gun of all time: Knights Armament Company Mark 11 Model 0 weapon system. Snatching haji souls and cracking taliban skulls from 800 yards since the year 2000 baby
My favorite would be the Springfield M1A. Love the video and the information on this particular set up. I would definitely want to shoot that rifle, even though I am much more of a tactical/usability driven individual. It seems to be set up and priced in the way STI has the competition 2011/1911, compared to duty or carry guns of the platform. (Except for the carry and tactical products they just released)
Dude you guys are having too much fun out there. LOL I need a back yard like yours. Hollywood is a lil different but none the less wild as well. Anyhow thanks for all the great intel. and inspiration. I Love my JP rifle and my Beretta 1301 tactical. After lots of research I pulled the trig after watching your reviews of each. Cheers!
