I think I actually like this better than the original. This version is just so raw and it captures Jesses emotion better.

That video with the dad saying "That SMASH, was my life. You just saw my entire existence defined" gives me the chills every time. I can see his face without closing my eyes. this accident happened close to where i grew up. used to take the meadowbrook pkwy, where the accident happened, to the beach. messes me up every time i hear this song. i remember my mom clinging to me after watching the news.

i like the key of his voice better on the album version but this is still heartbreakingly beautiful. if you know the story behind it and this doesn't move you to extreme sorrow and sadness something is wrong. one of the most emotionally moving songs ever written..

I've always loved this song. The accident in Cobleskill, NY really made this song crazy to me though. Not that it has anything to do with it..I live 20 miles down the road..

this is so perfect.

This is about something that happened like a town over from me (brand new is from my town, and event to my high school). There was a family in a limo on their way to a wedding and a man got in his car, drunk, and decided that after a fight with his girlfriend, he was going to kill someone or himself, and he drove down the wrong side of the road and crashed into the limo. The mother and father survived but the little girl ( I think she was about 9) was decapitated.

Its not about cops might be around the back roads.. Its the poor little kid, or just unsuspecting person crossing he back road that its about.. Simple as that, don't drink and drive.. Its not your own life that you're putting at risk. If it was just your life and no one else's then go for it, but anytime you drink and drive its more than that..
