yea, lacey added a new verse and omited the 'losing all my friends' original first verse. he plays with this one depending on the venue, but for this version it goes like this: Leo loved his wife, he loved her and was faithful to her always buried both her kids in a seasick park praying for his life fighting off the zeros with his shipmates huddled in the quaters they dropped the bomb, 45.
Thanks for that. When he’s talking about zero’s he’s referencing Japanese zero planes in WWII. Love this version. When he says dropped the bomb, 45, he’s talking about dropping nukes on Japan in 1945.
The words are interchangeable all the people posting different lyrics in the comments are all mostly right. Jesse has sung the song a lot of different ways. In the end he still conveys the same emotion. It's just raw and powerful. Always gives me the shivers
First few verses lyrics: Leo loved his wife. Loved her and was faithful to her always. Buried both the kids, [unintelligible] Praying for his life, Fighting off his demons with his shipmates Huddled in the quarters and dropped the bomb (45).
I really wish he would've kept the "Leo loved his wife / loved her and was faithful to her always / buried both the kids / at six o'clock" verse. It's a real kick in the chest.
Those bands who you never get over. The ones you can listen to over and over and over and NEVER get over it. Brand New is one of those. I love them. My love for them will never wither and wilt. EVER. That's a damn promise.
Here are the lyrics to the best of my ability: Leo loved his wife Loved her and was faithful to her always Buried both their kids at Seaset park Praying for his life Fighting off his demons with his shipmates Huddled in the quarters when we dropped the bomb in ‘45 Is it in you now to bear to hear the truth that you have spoken Twisted up by naves to make a trap for fools Is it in you now to watch the things you gave your life to broken Stoop and build them up with worn out tools Yeah Yeah Yeah Nothing gets so bad a whisper from your father couldn’t fix it He whispers like a bridge, it’s a river spanned Take all that you have and turn it into something you would miss if somebody threw that brick Shattered all your plans Yeah Yeah Yeah, yeah Yeah Time to get the seeds into the cold ground Takes a while to grow anything Before it’s coming to an end Before you put my body in the cold ground Take some time and warm it with your hand Before it’s coming to an end, yeah It’s coming to an end Do you miss the blend of color she left in your black and white field? Do you feel condemned just for being there? I am not your friend, I am just a man who know how he feels I am not your friend, I’m not your lover, I’m not your family, yeah Yeah Yeah Yeah, yeah Oh yeah Time to get the seeds into the cold ground Takes a while to grow anything Before it’s coming to an end, yeah
Close, but I believe it's "fighting off the Zeros with his shipmates" as in Japanese Zero fighter planes. Makes more sense with the "bomb in '45" line.
"I liked things before they're popular, therefore I'm better than you." Unless the quality drastically changes (sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't) it's still their fucking experience. believe it or not shitbrick, there was a time where even YOU didn't hear about certain bands.
Hey, I LOVE this song! This is one of the rare occasions where I like the acoustic version better than the album version. How can I buy a copy of this acoustic version? I HAVE to have it. :-)
ya i couldnt really tell, i was thinking demons but i kept listening and kept hearing evils not really positive at all though :) and ya i do like this intro but i also love the album versions intro. wish they had worked em both in to the song
I think I love this version a bit more. Just by a small margin. I still think both versions are great though. I really wish I had gotten into this band a lot sooner than I had. Oh well.
i dont know wut to do with this song, this song leaves a void in my head, i have to keep listening to it, cuz i get something different out of it each time..
@lewface Search this video on youtube. Here's the title of the video "Jesse Lacey - Sowing Season (Yeah) / Untitled 08 hybrid." You'll see that this is Jesse, here he sings the same lyrics, live, in person. Hopefully this will put your mind at ease. Cheers.
This is a mix of the released version of "Sowing Season" and the song "Untitled 08" that was part of the leaked batch of songs. Untitled 08 doesn't have the drums or the lead guitar, just Jesse singing and the Rhythm Guitar. Sowing Season doesn't have the opening verse added in this song.
this version has mostly the same lyrics as the album version. only the first verse is different. From what i can make out i think the lyrics for the beggining are "Leo loved his wife. Loved her and was faifthful to her always. Buried both her kids, ??at a seaside park?? (cant really tell what he says there). Praying for his life, fighting off his evils with his shipmates. Huddled in the quarters, when they dropped the bomb... 45." It then goes to the album versions lyrics
Yeah, I think it might be,"seas apart." Not," seaside park." Then, I think it might be,"Demons with his shipmates." At least that's what I hear. But you are right. I like that part though, it's kinda a cool intro to the song, which is totally epic in the first place.
@ohnoitstako "Leo loved his wife Loved her and was faithful to her always, Buried both their kids in a seasick park Praying for his life Fighting off the zeros with his shipmates Huddled in the quarters, They dropped the bomb Forty-Five Hope that helps :)
This isn't that version. That version is slightly poorer quality and has more lyrics before this one starts. It's either untitled 06 or 08 that you're thinking of, i forget, one is luca and one is sowing season.
Quit arguing with people you'll never meet. It's a good version of the song. Who cares if it's Jesse or not? It sounds great, and I'm enjoying it. chill with bad vibes, man.
