I did something similar with a 65 gallon plastic barrel. I'm not sure if it was a few bad batches of RODI or salt, but I got this funky brown/black slime on the inside of my mixing tank. Im not the best at cleaning my mixing tank. I've got a spare apex connected, a mixing pump, transfer pump, and heater in that mixing tank. To be sure I wasn't adding that slime to my display tank I did add a couple filter canisters to the outlet of the mixing tank. Just something to keep in the back of your mind. Tank and system looks amazing. Your tanks have always been a standard I've tried to follow. Thank you for the update video.
I like that you put safeties in place. I set my dose up for AWC and the rodi tubing came loose on the dose fittings. So it was pulling out but not adding saltwater. I happened to notice it when I was in the sump one day. The good thing is I didn’t have any fish/coral in the tank. I’ve since replaced the stock fittings with 1/4” rodi fittings.
I’m definitely gonna replace the fitting when BRS has them back in stock again but I have them on there pretty tight and the DOS in plain sight right beside the tank in addition to the extra saftey coding. Thanks for sharing that experience I’ll keep a eye out 🫡🔥
awesome as always, i bought a hydros system to try. Maybe ill try auto water changes after setting up the tank. Your right though even in my nano i get swings everytime i do my 10% change every week.
After months of trident graphing I absolutely notice a pause in consumption after water changes. No matter if they only 10% at one time. I can only see positive Benifits from this change… only question is how long does AF reef salt store before breaking down . That’s still to be tested 🫡
Nice setup CJ! Love all the backups and precautions. Great tip on the DOS running backwards. I've never hand my hands on a DOS. I've often thought of really wanting this. Call me old fashioned but I still don't mind lugging buckets. Forces me to be in tune with the tank. Following to see how you like it months down the road. 👍
I still have the original plumbing in place for a big manual change if needed. I’ve noticed the tank pause consumption after manual changes signaling a swing I’m hoping to avoid with my changes n small amounts daily to avoid it. Maybe just maybe will keep stability… as always thanks for tapping in 🫡🔥
Am I crazy or do I only see 3 blades running? I ordere 2-Grow and 1 Glow for mine. Trying to walk in your footsteps as much as possible, Setting up auto water changes is also in my future plans!
Canopy is hiding then I’m running 4 blades 2 grow 2 glow. If I was just running 3 I prob would do 2glows 1 grow with grow in the middle. As you following along be sure to avoid the mistakes made 😂 good luck bro
