Welcome back to my channel!
Well, it's been an interesting couple of weeks. Firstly, apologies for the delay in uploading new videos. We've recently acquired a bunch of brand new New Way Sidewinder XTR trucks in our yard, and I got lucky to drive one for a few week. This marks only my fourth or fifth day on this truck when I record this video, as you can see, I've already become quite accustomed to it. Of course, there's still a long way to go to master it. After all, the best driver is always learning driver. I must say, I'm really impressed with the New Way Sidewinder XTR compared to the Heil Pythons. It operates much smoother and with greater precision, without the constant worry of the cumbersome elbow of the Python arm knocking into objects or tipping over other cans. Let's delve into some pros and cons.
Pros: The arm reaches about two feet further than the Python, and the arm gripper is incredibly thin, effortlessly maneuvering between cans like a sharp knife through butter. Additionally, the arm doesn't extend all the way up over the body to dump the cans, eliminating the need to worry about overhead wires. Furthermore, it operates much quieter without the slamming blade and banging arm noises.
Cons: However, it's notably slower than the Python, with a dump cycle ranging from 10 to 20 seconds depending on the arm's reach, compared to the Python's 7 to 10 seconds per can. Also, the ride quality on these Autocar frames with the New Way setup is inferior; they ride quite harshly, even with the tag axle down, significantly affecting ride comfort.
