If the Russell is like the Heatcraft the EEV is opened at install as long as you don't turn the evaporator on so you can pressure test and pull a vacuum

Yes. Just have to be careful with transducers

Good video ! i am having some fun with a Econet system right now. a Tip For You --- Wear Light colored clothing in the Sun. ( White Preferably ) Why do You think Arabs Wear All White ! Reflects the Sun ! Dark Clothing --- You are unaliveing your self. 2) Put up a 10' x 10' Pop up Shade over a Condensing unit You are Having problems with. Shade Can Drop Condenser inlet air temps by Huge Amounts ! 3) Put up a Pop up shade --- to Work under if You are going to be b in the roof a while in the Direct sun. Shade --- For the Win !!!

It does have a Schrader. I’ve had a bunch of problems with these Russel eco net units

Not a good experience for sure here. Thanks that was helpful when I swapped it out

Pressure transducers go out all the time cause false readings had on 20 psi off causing unit to run 10-15 defrosts a day on demand defrost Key rule whenever there’s a transducer always verify pressures n superheat with your gauges the EEV will always maintain 10 so if it’s off check that first

Honestly it's still new to me down here and hadn't seen this issue until now but lesson learned

Good information I put in two Russell econet system last year and have had no issues ( I like them but all brands can be improved) Shame to hear you had issues with the JB gauges, I’ve noticed some weird quirks with mine but so far I lean to them more than testo.

It's mostly quirks, I'll double check my negative points before doing a little review video. They're nice tho

Seems like our mutual customer has their suppler changed from heatcraft to russel now. Ive also installed a few of these russels this year. Slightly bigger evap. But i havent ran into any issues yet. Thanks for the info about the limp mode.

They all have work arounds at least, it's the luck of the draw so far with all these "smart" evaps. Some never have issues

Did you pull the suction pressure transducer off when pressure testing? That will cause damage to the transducer depending on how high you test. These “new” systems like Intelligen, Beacon II, etc, are my favorite to work on, if installed properly, I have the least issues with them out of all the equipment I work on.
@ReliableHVACR
@ReliableHVACR 2 месяца назад
No we tested the linesets separate before hooking up the equipment and I just did a vacuum test once installed. But good point, you gotta be aware you can damage these things with high pressure. I like installing them but as far as intelligen it's motors unplugging cuz they just hang down and boards working for a month or so and then randomly just stop sending signal to the eev, never got an answer as to why tho. Russell I've just had sensors going out within the first year

Sometimes there's a Schrader under the transducer, sometimes not. You can just let it off cycle pump down and swap it with the residual pressure and not have to pull a vacuum. Those EEVs use either the pressure or temperature inputs as a "limp home" strategy should either one fail. It's meant to get you out of a jam and keep the box operating until you get it replaced. All this electronic crap will never outlast a conventional TXV and mechanical controls. That's 90% of my work-repairing new stuff.
@ReliableHVACR
@ReliableHVACR 2 месяца назад
Yeah at least it'll be easy to swap. Yup we still buy the conventional stuff and I've never been called back to those 😂

Did it have liquid injection? I've gotten those and the service valve for it be closed. Even though they hang a tag on it that says "All valves are open".
@ReliableHVACR
@ReliableHVACR 2 месяца назад
No actually. They have a freezer here with a scroll and that one does have liquid inject but not this one

@@ReliableHVACR yeah Ive only seen them on low temp. I figured out you were talking about a cooler when you said the box temp. Look out for that though if you have a compressor that's overheating. I've had it before.
