I lost a really good friend last night. She was the most beautiful woman ever. She loved Brand new. I remember sitting in her car listening to this song kissing her staring into each others eyes and never wanting the night to end. I want to call her I can't she is gone.
that fucking guitar and drums man u know it was early 2000's when rock was still good, no matter what type of rock it was I miss those days... things of music died 2007
its about waaaaaaay more than sex and a boy and a girl. the scene at the end is totally metaphysical. Brand New needs brand new fans but I see through the lyrics, these dudes r deeeeeep
throughout the song, he believes he's something like the puppet master, but in the end the guy in the shadows is the one controlling everything; he just didn't know it. wow, good shit to think about, love this band :)
smooth bass line, his voice that fits in perfectly with his wicked awesome lyrics, and then a fast break with great crowd participation lyrics, its just a great song overall, it also helps if you were a teen or younger when u first heard this song

@TheMeatLover123 he is lead like a lamb into the slaughter. throughout the vid, he thinks he's the one in control (everyone seems to be mimicking him). But in the end, the guy in the shadows (the slaughter reference) is the one running the whole show, the one who led everyone in there. that's why the singer is surprised that his hand seems to be acting against his will, obviously the shadow guy is the real conductor. that's why you have to always know who's in control & make sure that it is YOU
@MrBearsandbears Oh yes, I know and you can blame John Nolan for that. He handed Jesse a guitar, he did "whatever" with Jesse girlfriend, and he is the reason why Jesse left Taking Back Sunday to help form Brand New. Stop me if you've heard this one before.
"she's breathing quiet and smooth... He is gasping for air." Its like they looked into the most private parts of my life and wrote a song to make me understand myself.
@explosivegummibears The concept of the video is that most people are sheep and will follow the leader and do what they do and say no matter what they do. And in a way it does correlate to the song because the song is about doing something you don't really want to do.
@DSCMoo i feel that that does correlate with the song then. Because they dont want to do it but they do it anyways because thats what others do, they blindly follow even though they dont want to do it..................anyways this song rocks this band is the best ever and im glad to see that people are actually discussing the song and not callin each other names and stuff...Brand New FTW
One of the theories I read about the lyrics is that it's Jesse reacting to the pressure, stress, and frustration he had of being signed to a major label and the large amount of publicity and fame that's going to overwhelm him with Deja Entendu's release.
@GlenStarbuck Glad I'm not the only one who got this, I haven't heard this song in 5 years I suddenly remembered the lyrics over the weekend and thought "holy crap that's about a woman raping a man!" glad I wasn't just going crazy.
white lamb mystery boggled me for a looong time too....well this video uses the lamb to correlate with the lyrics of "she is the lamb, he is the slaughter" so he's taking advantage of her. but I don't know if its a brand thing.
Lyrics: Brand New > Taking Back Sunday Guitar work: Brand New > Taking Back Sunday Band members who are actually nice: Brand New > Taking Back Sunday A singer I'd go gay for: Brand New > Taking Back Sunday A singer who has let himself go: Brand New < Taking Back Sunday
@Unleashed06 well, they were never "gone", but everyone was freaking out sayin BN is over, but they just recently updated 5 new shows, and rumours of a new record are going round.
Brand New's lyrics seem more grown up than Taking Back Sunday, and their songwriting style is more varied and complex. I still enjoy Taking Back Sunday, but Brand New wins for musical quality.
@startburninginthesky I just mean I like the tension between Jordan and Tay singing the song better than just one male singing it. To me, having a girl and a guy sing it adds to the meaning of the song. My opinion isn't wrong, it's my opinion.
@Dylanland234 I agree. When I was watching this I was thinking about how much fun warped tour used to be and if I went now it would be nothing but bands my 16year old sister and her friends listen to. I guess everyone has their time..... =/
@Tyzz lol, really? Stylo was released in 2010. this song was released about 2003. Brand New must be frickin legends, managing to rip of a song 7 years before it was released =P
