Brand New Sunflower Ferry in Japan | Trying the Semi Private Capsule 

I've never been to Japan but the Sunflower song lives rent free in my head.

Imagine being part of the crew of a Sunflower ferry and hearing that song again and again…

SuuuunfloOOooowaaaahh SunnnFLoOOOwaaaaaaah. I heard all the new ferries have massive speaker systems installed - like nightclub strong. There's rumors you can hear it, over the waters, late at night, like the sirens calling out to Odysseus, bringing madness, then death.

Yay! Nothing like hearing that song again to brighten up my day! My daughter was in Japan earlier in the year for school and during her last week took the Sunflower ferry the other direction: Osaka to Beppu. She also mentioned how the buffet was heavy on the fish but not much in the way of other meats. At my request, she even bought me one of those blue/gold-braided "Sunflower Heartfelt Hospitality" hats from the gift shop I had noticed in other RU-vid videos. "Sunflower! Sunflower!"

I really need to start watching these with the volume down just so I don’t start singing sunflower. Tonight I started singing it to my kitten who was sleeping on my shoulder lol.

Just think of how many people around the world now know the sunflower 🌻 song but will never ever step foot on the ferry 😅

I do not speak Japanese, however I have watched all of your videos on the Sunflower and can easily sing the entire song from memory now.

I continue to be completely surprised at how reasonably priced such voyages in Japan are, making them accessible to everyone. I live in British Columbia, Canada and am a frequent traveler on BC Ferries where you would be lucky to find coffee and a donut for $5.70, let a lone an all-you-can-eat buffet with such variety.

Not being able to turn "Sunflower" off is a distinct disadvantage to the semi-private pods. I'd be wearing earplugs or staying outside as long as possible to avoid descending into complete madness before departure. I loved the smiley-faced potato cakes - we have those here in America, too, and like dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets, they're considered a food for children. Still tasty, though 😁. The sashimi looked wonderful, as did the desserts. Thanks for sharing the trip with us!

Anyway, I love the Sunflower ferries and definitely plan to use them to travel around Japan. What a nice, comfortable room. I do have a question though. I'm an inch below six feet, will the beds fit me?

Those little cabins look nice and cozy, more than good enough for an overnight voyage. Also, 🎶🎵🎶🎶!

What a serene voyage. The main staircase is amazing. The cabin you chose was just right. One weird thing to me is the very small towel the ferries give you. For drying off I like a couple of body towels and honestly still am too shy to take a public bath 🇺🇲

I love how you can get any type of soup you want in Japanese restaurants, as long as it's miso.

This ferry has a very nice whistle. Reminds me of Hans Zimmer. The buffet seems nice and filling, and the bed quite comfy. Diesel vibrate more because the ignition inside the cylinders happens under higher pressure than most other fuels, and thus creates a bigger lower-pitched sound. Bigger wavelength=better penetration thru solid objects like ship hulls.

I was having a rough start today but when I heard the Sunflower song I was happy and dancing to the song. The sunflower song is quite a catchy tune. Thanks for sharing the ferry ride, and that yummy food as well as the song with us. 🌻🌻🌻

Great trip. Ah yes, Sunflower Ferry trip again, only reading the title, that song playing in my mind. Talking about Sunflower, not long ago, A big Ferry company in my country bought second hand Ferry from Sunflower Ferry. Overall nice cabin with affordable price.

As soon as I saw this video in my feed, the song started up in my head...Sunflower...Sunflower... It's interesting that you would mention they might be cutting costs by not serving beef steak. I live in Nebraska, a state in the US where we're surrounded by beef and the ocean is a long way off, so fish is much more expensive here.
