Alright, story time! 1. My deepest apologies for being so late with this video, the reason for this is because 3 days after uploading my last video "The History of Mexico", I got very ill and ended up having to stay in the hospital for nearly 2 weeks, meaning I lost a lot of time to work on my next video. Again sorry for this delay, I tried to work as hard on this new video as possible. 2. Some of my old subscribers may be surprised to see this video as I've already done one about this topic. Truth be told, the video is very old and has a lot, and I mean A LOT of sloppy mistakes in it and the video wasn't what I felt accurate and detailed enough. I've always wanted to go back to it and improve it the way I wanted to. This video has fixed all mistakes the last video had, has a better map and gives more details about various events.
+BrianDMS dude, love the vault boy, but really, Prussia is oppressive! North Korea! China! Iran! Afghanistan! Belarus! Vietnam! Compare 20th century Prussia to these modern countries and Prussia looks like heaven. Prussia wasn't any more oppressive than most other European nations back then.
Tommy Bill All of those are non-european states with different morals and ethics than european ones (Belarus wasn't even a state back then and now it's not much more oppressive than Russia really but they're not an occupational state, Prussia was one). Compare Prussia to any other European state back then. Only Russia was more cruel and evil towards all the nations they conquered, but the thing is - Russia was not as efficient. In Prussia people were forced to learn German, even though over half of its territory was situated on the land inhabited by Poles and Balts, they were not allowed to speak their own languages, kids were beaten for not wanting to study German, everything tied to the Polish language and culture was annihilated, they even melted the historical crown insignia into gold, burned all the books they could get their hands on, they would draft everyone to the army and make them fight against their brothers that were forced to fight in the Russian one. Prussia was by far the most cruel and evil, purely occupational and war-propelled state at that time in Europe if we don't count the Russian Tsardom. And no, not every european state was like this back then, just take a look at France, Britain or even Austria-Hungary, it also took part in partitions of Poland and the state itself was diverse and multicultural to the degree that not only Hungarians but even Poles would often hold high seats in the government, it was the least authoritarian empire in this side of Europe where people could enjoy all the privileges one can think of, it was home of classical-liberal thinkers and economists that promoted freedom in every aspect of life, in contrary to slavery that people would face in Russia or Prussia.
but they did not have serfs in the nineteenth century like russia nor had the inquisition like spain other catholic nations of that time. Prussia had to be aggressive to remain relevant against the major powers in that region like:Austria,Sweden,France and Russia, The ottoman Empire was more oppressive than you make prussia out to be.
Hello Suomi, First I just want to tell you that I'm really enjoying your current content! Now, I was just wondering if you'd consider making a timeline of the Incan empire? From it's start to it's fall? I know that you've been doing mostly former and current European nations, and I totally understand if the Incas don't interest you, however I feel like it could add some variety to the channel whilst still being very enjoyable. I think that if you wanted to, with your talent, you could make a great video about it. The Inca are in my opinion one of the most interesting empires from the old "tribes" of America, and I would love it if you'd cover their history. As I said I totally understand if you don't want to, just wanted to share the idea. Keep up the good work!
Prussian Eagle XD Chill Pal, I was just kidding ! Anyways Prussia still exists in Germany as Brandenburg with Berlin as its capital & guys like Bismark united Germany as it exists today ! No guy who's studied in Germany will forget that & that's an awesome legacy of Preußen ! Anyways peace to you folks from India ;)
The Kingdom of Prussia and the German Kaiserreich aren't the same. The King of Prussia was the Emporer of Germany, but there were many other little States in the German Kaiserreich.
hello.I saw some videos by you ,I have to admit it's very useful for me.so I have a suggestion that could you make a video of china? This is what I interest in,Grazie!
@@LeHoa-pg4sq ???????? Generally I dislike the fact that Kingdom of Prussia and its predecessor, Electorate of Brandenburg was strictly anti-Polish. They constantly wanted to grab land from us. Before and after the partitions of Poland they were making a ton of propaganda, so now many Westerners see my country inferior and say shit like "Posen ist Deutsch".
Great video, however at 5:42 it can be included that Friedrich III succeeded his father as duke, but later proclaimed himself Friedrich I, king in Prussia. The above is a common omission, noticeable even in professional works. Nevertheless, a great video indeed.
Rodrigo Cardenas Solis the first one is maybe the Königgrätzer Marsch. The 2nd is clearly Preußens Gloria. And the 3rd is some Brazilian thing it seems
@@LOLXD-sf4yd nope, doing that would effectively mean reclaiming the now polisch and lithuanian parts as well as Königsberg (Kaliningrad) from russia wich would defy the reunion treaty from 1991 by disrespecting the Oder-Neiße-line as definite eastern german border. Also Brandenburg as Mark is actually older than prussia, as seen in the video, so it is like keeping the hearth alive instead of the fingers.
@@LOLXD-sf4yd I mean ... yeah it is sad that Königsberg and (western) Danzig were redistributed, I mean in some parts of poland there still are very old german speaking communities some of woch tried to seperate them selfs from poland, but at the same time ... I think the natural river border of germany is a huge factor for the stability of europe. And while Königsberg itself and some buildings stem from prussia, the people living there today are mostly russian, the few german speaking people who still live there are dieing out. It is kinda sad but history is like that sometimes. But you can be content knowing that Königsberger Klopse are not called Kaliningrader Klopse, so Königsberg keeps on living in the form of a very tasty dish. ^^
Your stretching it a bit by showing Belgium in blue in 1814. It was a temporary independent government. It was maybe led by a Prussian statesmen but it wasn't under Prussian control.
prussian royal family wasnt very creative with names... All the kings are named Frederic, Wilhelm or Frederic-Wilhelm. Actually last one is more common surprisingly
Prussia is still alive. Prussia = Brandenburg + Berlin. Prussia makes Bavaria angry because Bavaria has to give lots of money to help out Prussia because of the USSR ruined the Prussian economy. Berlin has a GDP per capita of 35,000 USD, Brandenburg has it at 25,000 USD, Bavaria has it at 45,000. Prussia is now reduced to the poorest states of the German Republic :'(
That's Heil thee in Sieger Kranz (yes that was a weird mix of Englis and German, but I couldn't remember the word thee in German :P) or God Save the King (or Queen, as it is right now), not some Brazilian inbred imperial march (jk don't execute me, we beat the Argentines in the Falklands, so we can beat you too 👌👌👌)
Birgilios Marmaroglou Uh, it's about the History of Brandenburg and Prussia, not the Teutonic Order, Poland, Danzig or some german tribes which lived in that area. It's about Brandenburg and Prussia
Birgilios Marmaroglou I know , but once again, the title of the video is not "Brandenburg, Prussia and the Teutonic order and the germans that lived in Poland" it's Brandenburg and Prussia
